I just can't. This is too much. Berserk was so influential on so many things that I love. Goodbye, Miura. You'll be missed by many.

Bio
Hello! Welcome to my little bio.
Not much to say, really. Just a horror game protag that likes writing and playing vidya games when I'm not being chased by the cosmic forces of darkness. (I'm a security guard that works night shifts usually).
That was the first thing Ashlyn felt as she felt herself floating in some dark, cramped void. It was difficult to think very much, suspended in this tight prison, and she might have felt a little claustrophobic if she could think clearly. The only thing she could feel now, though, was an urgent need to break the walls of this prison and free herself. The egg began to wiggle and crack, the young lizard inside using its claws and body to beat and scratch against the edges of the prison - she didn't have to try for long. The egg tumbled over, the top of the egg splitting open and spilling its yolk and the young lizard within onto the ground.
"Urf..."
Ash's first memory of her new body was of sputtering, hissing lowly, spitting up some of the goop that had been filling the egg as she struggled to her feet, getting a feel for her new body. She quickly looked around, feeling something was...off but not entirely registering what before scrambling off into the shadows with her brothers and sisters.
Her next memory would be far less pleasant.
For the next few hours, the lizard worked purely on autopilot, simply waiting and listening along with a few others for the chance to nab food. They had gotten lucky - a larger predator hadn't noticed them waiting quietly underfoot, camouflaging themselves with dirt from the caverns floor. As soon as its foot hit the floor, they swarmed the large beast, one of her brothers getting the first bite in, paralyzing the careless larger beast, and letting the others swarm it, devouring it whole as it's distressed cries began filling the air.
"H-huuh?" It was around this time, Ash reclaimed her senses - the beast in front of her still alive as it was being devoured by the others. A large gash in its underbelly, ripped open as they feasted. The lizard leaped back in shock at the gruesome scene as she tried to make sense of the situation, green eyes flitting from each of the reptile to the predator they were devouring.
Right, something about some demon lord reincarnating her after she died? Huh, fancy that.
After the initial panic wore of, her much more rational mind took over as she calmed herself, eyes narrowing at the whole scene in thought. Well, she was hungry and it seemed she regained her senses in the middle of a feast. It was gruesome, but at the moment she didn't feel a need to so readily change the status quo at the moment. Free food was free food after all.
After the initial surprise at her new situation, Ash spent the rest of the week exploring her new body and surroundings, content with merely observing everything from the shadows. She first thought the other lizards might be hostile, but for the most part they seemed perhaps a bit like pack animals - or perhaps opportunistic would be a more apt term. Ready to gorge themselves on any food they could find, and that one feast they had thanks to a careless predator. For the most part though - she found herself eating bugs and beetles from the ground and occasionally scavenging from other, larger predator's meals after they were done. For the most part, it was easy so long as she didn't get nabbed by some bigger predator, but perhaps she was simply being optimistic. She made sure to lay low and avoid other creatures too - especially the goblins, staying clear from their bonfire. She had no desire to become food or to test her lucky with something like a straight fight anytime soon.
Now that a week had passed though, she had far bigger concerns to worry about - like how to get out of here and how to possibly use this new life of hers to her advantage. She had always been one to go with the flow, do whatever it was others told or wanted of her without much fighting. Got her nowhere aside from a few hollow awards few places in life until she literally died of overwork.
...she wondered how many people attended her funeral?
...
"Now that's a horribly depressing thought. Here I am with a new life and I'm already being a nihilist. Aren't I just a wonderful ball of scaly sunshine." She shoved the thought out of her head as she skittered along the floor of the cavern, heading for the pool of water in the area as she resting at the side of the pool. Today, she was going to go about things on her own. None of the other lizards seemed too interested in anything other than eating, sleeping, and well...being animals. She reached the edge of the pool, glaring at her reflection in the dark pool.
"Oh good, I'm hideous." She grumbled in thought to herself, holding the side of her scaly face with a claw as she shook her head. "Ugh, I swear to whatever gods exist on this place if I speak words with an annoying 'ssss' sound I'm going to save them the trouble of killing me." Could she actually talk? She hadn't tried it, but she doubted she could with a body like this, and she didn't want to bring unnecessary attention to herself so she didn't try. Instead, she was more curious about those green plants growing here - plants needed sunlight. That was third grade science right there...so why were they growing here? Those blue crystals were also of interest, but she'd investigate them later.
She walked silently over to the herbs, giving them a sniff to see if they had any particular odor before trying to pluck a leaf from one and realizing quite quickly, claws were not going to be very helpful. Well, she supposed she could always try eating one - but it might also be poisonous, which for obvious reasons would be bad or her health. What were some things she could do to observe its effects? She'd need to see what it's chemical composition was made up of before anything, but she didn't have the technology to do anything here with it, and outright eating it would just be too dangerous.
...Well, for now she'd just wait and watch. She was getting a little hungry, so ambushing something roughly the same size as her should be easily done. She crouched low among the herbs, letting the grass settle around her before beginning to wait.
"Ehe," Isabella blushed a bit, too happy to sense the sarcasm in Valiant's words. Oh, she wanted to show someone! Normally she'd talk to her brothers but well, they weren't here and she doubted Gracie would like such a thing. "Oh, thank you for showing me, Valiant." The princess replied thankfully. "I wonder if Valora wouldn't mind teaching me...?" She lost herself in thought for a bit, thinking about various ways she could convince the older swordswoman to teach her to protect herself with a blade. She had always admired people who could wield a blade well, and was always mildly envious of them - if only she could be so skilled.
...perhaps she could do something about that now that she wasn't confined to the castle?
Isabella's lit up with a level of enthusiasm that most wouldn't have seen on her before. She quickly sheathed the sword, eager to get this underway and try it. Commit to the action, right. Of course. She could do that. The spellbook said something similar - once you start, you had to commit or you might mess something up. So same principle applied here it seemed. She could do that easily enough. Oh, how should she swing it though? She had to make it look good - her brother always managed to be totally cool and also strong at the same time, so she could do it too! Wouldn't be hard.
"Hup!" She wrapped her hand around the hilt of Valiant, noticing her vision blurring slightly as she summoned whatever power from the blade Valiant would let her. She felt incredibly focused - not as much as when she was practicing that magic but it was clear that Valiant could help with concentration.
"Haaa!" She drew the blade from the scabbard, some sort of battle cry ringing in her head some distance away. Odd? Something from another of Valiant's wielders? She wasn't sure, but she didn't question it for long, for Valiant was already unsheathed and met the wall with a resounding boom that echoed through the hallway, a chunk of the wall chipped right off from the strike.
"E-eh?" For a few seconds, Isabella simply stared as Valiant's voice as she held him in her hand. "...I...did that?" she stared in disbelief before grinning and giggling a bit as she held the sword in front of her, not caring that Valiant had made a little jab at her. Didn't notice the armor or pain, either - or rather she was too excited to really pay it any mind.
"Oh, did you see that? Ahaha, that was great! I could even give Valora a challenge with that."
Isabella puffed out her cheeks more, waving Valiant in a rather comical manner to show her disapproval.
"Oh come on," She frowned. "I just want to see how it works. You don't have to do anything really fancy!" Isabella insisted further. Really, it wasn't like she was going to do anything super difficult! She just wanted to see what it felt like so she wouldn't be surprised or intimidated if she had to use it for whatever reason. "Y'know, better to be prepared with what you have then find yourself unprepared later while waiting for something possibly more suiting."
"U-uhm..." The princess puffed out her cheeks, blushing a bit as she felt a little embarrassed but continued on anyways. She didn't really get his problem with her suggestion. "You don't need a target to swing sword or practice forms, do you?" If she was going to potentially be using Valiant in any capacity, it was better to familiarize herself with how it worked in practice before putting it into practical application, wasn't it? "Just show me." Valiant might notice she has an easier time speaking to him than she does with other people.
"E-eh? Really?" This sword could pass on knowledge of centuries of swordsmanship? That was...well, actually quite an impressive talent. Her eldest brother would be jealous. She was giving him a skeptical, or perhaps curious look as she held the blade in front of her. How exactly did it work? She wasn't questioning that he could do it, but rather how he did it. You couldn't just immediately train one's body to do things it was physically incapable of doing. She couldn't swing a sword with any amount of coordination, not to mention her rather lackluster physical ability and strength.
Like most monsters of her level, small, not too threatening looking, and overall not very impressive. Ash is a fairly typical Fanged Lizard, about as big and long as an average human arm - resembling what we might call a Gila Monster. Most of her body is covered in black scales, with little coloring to be seen aside from a few splotches of dark green covering her hide on her sides, legs, and underbelly. She does however, have a few easily identifiable markings from other Fanged Lizards, carrying a few outstanding physical identifiers. Most notable would be the thin, vibrant but dark purple stripes she has running from the end of her nose along her back to the tip of her tail. Her lizard like eyes, are a vibrant green
As a Pygmy drake, essentially a small dragon. Larger in size than a Fanged lizards, with functional wings able to glide short distances and fly at a walking pace. Her tail has lengthened and become more flexible, with a stinger at the end of it able to deliver venom and poison she has grown somewhat used to using. Her scales are still an ash grey in color, with a stripe of dark purple running from under her eyes towards the end of her tail with still vibrant green eyes
As a Winged Kobold, Ash is comparable in size to a goblin. Bipedal, with a slight crouch to her frame due to her legs. Overall, she has a feminine body shape with scales still ash grey in color. Powerful wings extend from her back, capable of low powered flight. Her head, resembled that of a lizard still, with small horns protruding outwards along her skull. Overall, she had a skinny and lithe frame with vibrant green eyes still observing the world around her with keen interest. Of note, the dark purple markings on her scale have turned into purple, mystical curved tattoos upon her scales reminiscent of various alchemical and astrological symbols.

Has a tendency to watch things instead of engaging in fights or otherwise exert physical activity, preferring to boss others around or talk her way out of problems.
Goals:
-Research new chemicals and such in this world, and use that knowledge to better her own position. -Too little information to work on. Perhaps she'll take it easy and not overwork herself to near-death like last time? She has little interest in helping people.
Past Life:
Ashlyn, is a product of a wealthy upbringing and near perfect education. A typical story of a perfect kid burning themselves out and going a bit off the deep end.
Born in a large city in the United States, she had one of the best damn lives anyone could have hoped for growing up. She was born into a family of doctors, scientists, and other such people who had been such for generations and were quite proud of their lineage. Intellectuals, philosophers - the Elite of the elite, some might say. A little pompous, haughty, and self-serving as well, but such is the nature of human beings if one would ask her.
Ash was expected to be no exception. From the moment she was born she was made to study, go to the best schools, eat healthily, etc. Things such as that. Her parents were fairly controlling of how she was supposed to be, affording her very little leisure time. A lonely existence, that perhaps jaded her a little growing up since the word 'friend' was something fairly foreign to her. Even so, she worked tirelessly to better her academic studies in all fields. For most of her early life, she didn't question this. She pursued knowledge simply for the sake of knowledge, even if she ended up almost shunning everyone but her parents and immediate family. She worked hard, winning several awards in her school district in a number of academic areas. Maths, sciences, and literature areas. It was during a party her parents planned for this little victory of hers, did she realize something.
She was exhausted.
Not Physically - mentally. Almost as if her brain had decided to take a vacation without warning, and she began to question a few things. Most notably - why she was trying so hard. She had never given it a thought before - why she was doing anything. She just did as she was told by her parents without a care, question, or heed to what she herself wanted. Typical things any kids asked themselves, really - but it perhaps affected her harder than others.
Depression is a nasty thing.
She became mildly obsessed with her appearance, preferring to spend days excessively applying, removing, and then reapplying make-up, visiting beauty salons and almost neurotically trying to find something anything that made her feel something other than complete and utter apathy towards everything. She never got into drugs or stuff like that of course - she was smarter than that and valued her intellect above anything else. Drugs would only hurt that. Of course, she tried not to let this this lack of interest to affect her grades.
The rest of her life wasn't any better. She spent most of it just coasting through, taking each day as they came, not really doing much else from her work at a pharmaceutical companies research division. She spent most of her time playing with deadly chemicals and seeing exactly how the interacted with living, organic tissue - not that no one ever found out about that little morbid curiosity of hers. Never married, or really had any personal relationships.
In the end, she died alone at the age of fifty seven from work related stress, never really living a very exciting or what one would call a 'fulfilling' life.
When she was offered a second chance of life, she was skeptical at first. Demon lord? Living again? What sort of ridiculous statement was that? That said...she had never really been one to change the course of her own life. Perhaps she could change that here? She had an extensive knowledge of chemicals, how they reacted with others...perhaps that could be put to use here?
Well, why not? No need to start arguing with people just yet, heh. She accepted the deal without hesitation.
Gain more detail about observed magic skills, objects, etc. Lose less effectiveness when using this skill on other things, even if they aren’t magically inclined. When analyzing a spell you have seen at least one time before, you may learn information such as its element or function depending on various factors.
Monster Analysis II
Gain basic biological information about a monster by actively observing it. At level two, gain more information about Monsters. Other analysis skills will further boost the information this skill provides, such as a creature’s capability with magic or its equipment.
Material Analysis II
Your growing familiarity with various materials allows you to pick up more details about objects and may even bring up a subconscious recognition of what Craftable Objects might be the most suitable for a given item, compared to your own experience with any items you have crafted. You will also be able to more accurately compare different materials to one another.
Plant Analysis I
Basic field knowledge of botany. At this rank, using this skill only grants you “generalized” information.
Alchemy II
- Sodium and water go boom. Bleach and vinegar is a warcrime. The knowledge of basic, non-magical chemical science from your past life gives you an edge in figuring out effective alchemical uses. Allows one to have a basic understanding of how well things alchemically react, but not much else. See more detailed qualities of items, less effectiveness is lost during combinations at level II (past life skill)
Fusion Skill [Analysis]
A Fusion Skill is not a true skill by itself, but a sort of shortcut. You have acquired Monster, Magic, Plant, and Material Analysis skills. By activating [Analysis] you will use all of these skills at once without as much mental effort. [Analysis] will not go up in Rank, but its effectiveness will increase if the Skills used for Fusion are increased. However, if only Analysis is used, the growth of the individual skills will not be as fast.
Mana Vision II
MP Cost reduced. Stamina cost reduced. Concentrate MP in your eyes to see the fluctuations of Mana. The level of detail and other qualities of your Mana Vision depend not only on the Rank of this Skill, but also on your physical sense of sight. Depending on the strength of your concentration, having a lesser sense of vision may also consume Stamina when using this Skill. At your current Rank, you can only see strange fluctations of magic energies and shapes that are not easily understood...
Mana Sense I
You have sharpened our mental and spiritual senses! By focusing upon a single creature or object, you will be able to sense its magical nature in some fashion. Different creatures may perceive this in different ways--some may see a colored aura, others may catch unique scents, etc. This is not an Analysis skill, though it may synergize with some of them. The range of this skill is limited to that of your other physical senses, though in some cases a mana signature may become easier or more difficult to detect depending on factors such as strength, amount, etc. By touching an object or creature, even if they are somehow suppressing their magical power, you have a chance to learn whether or not magic is present. At this rank you must activate this skill in order for it to take effect. While active it will consume MP.
Supports
Charisma I
- Like other charismatic skills, your personality is almost a magical charm unto itself. You’ll have greater luck convincing others to go along with your suggestions, but only within their own natural reasoning. This skill may not work on those with stronger Wills.
Intimidate I
Your force of personality has become semi-magical in and of itself. When demonstrating your power or anger, you appear more threatening to those weaker than yourself. You may be more capable to force them to do what you want.
Crafting I
You may craft very simple items from simple materials. Your knowledge and understanding of mechanics, workmanship, and other such things enable you to craft better items. The process of creating many items is still an unknown to you, but if you ever succeed in such a creation its Sub-Stat Enhancements will be higher than normal. NOTE: Your species is unsuited to this Skill.
Lesser Force II
MP Consumption decreased. Range slightly increased. Force strength slightly increased. Rather than more powerful, it would be more accurate to say this skill is now more efficient.
Muffle I
This skill grants you the ability to be just a little bit better at being stealthy, with a focus on reducing the sound of your movements.
Lesser Flight I
This Skill allows for flight over short distances at a "walking" pace. Carrying objects is difficult. This skill relies on one's physical ability to fly with Wings or some other form of propulsion.
Alert I
Though this skill is limited by the strength of your senses, and does not sharpen your senses on its own, it allows you to become more aware of your surroundings. Without conscious effort, you will pick up on signs in your environment more easily, especially if they present some form of danger to you. Essentially this is an anti-ambush skill.
Meditate II
Increase the amount of Mana recovered. Low background noises, movements will no longer decrease the effectiveness of this skill so long as the user maintains stillness and a calm state of mind. This skill still cannot be used while moving or in the midst of battle. This skill cannot be used in conjunction with other Active skills.
Tremor Sense I
You can feel vibrations through the earth within a 30 foot radius or so around you, whether they be footsteps, tunneling creatures, etc. You have already learned through your previous experimentation that you can also produce these vibrations to a very limited degree. This skill has to be Activated at this rank.
Mental Resistance I
Take less damage from Psychic-type spells or skills, and have a better chance of resisting mind-altering effects such as Confusion or Hypnosis. This counts as an Elemental resistance for the purposes of Magic Resistance.
Sensory Resistance I
You have a lower chance to be afflicted by status effects that distort the senses such as Blindness or Deafness. -Under some circumstances this ability may synergize with other resistances-
Prehensile Tail (--)
Your tail has developed enough muscle and coordination that you can use it as if it were a fully functional limb--minus fingers and toes of course. Any stats, skills, items, spells, etc that could be used or applied by your limbs can, with a few exceptions, also be used by your tail.
Mana Shape I
You can shape your raw Mana into the appearance of something. At this rank, your Mana does not have weight, force, or other physical qualities. Your Mana cannot produce sounds. Your Mana cannot move freely. Your mana can have its color changed. Your shapes must be relatively simple with no moving parts. The shape cannot be held for long without more MP.
Dual Cast I
Splitting one's focus is a difficult task, but like playing the drums it can be learned. Casting different spells with different effects or requirements increases the difficulty and the MP required, but the caster's mindset can also affect this Skill. A Caster at this Rank may Dual Cast by: (1) Cast the same spell simultaneously, usually within two hands. Example using Current Skills: Fireball. This expends twice the MP cost, and both versions of the spell must be the same Rank, but the Casting time is only that of a single cast.(2) Prepare two spells simultaneously, to be used one at a time. Example using Known Skills: Digbie's Rock Spire and your Fireball. Rock Spire is prepared but not cast; the Earth Mana shines under the targeted area. Fireball is cast at a target, knocking it into Rock Spire's prepared area. Rock Spire is released. Both spells can be no higher than Rank I. Delayed Spells can be held no longer than 10 seconds at this rank. Certain spells that might require rituals, components, or other complexities might not be Dual Cast in this manner even at Rank I. This use consumes twice the MP for a Delayed Spell plus the normal MP cost for the other spell. (3) Cast a single instance of two different spells, usually within two hands. Example using Known Skills: Your Fireball and Ash's Mana Slice. You cast Fireball at a target to your right and Mana Slice at a target to your left, at the same time. This usage expends the sum of both spells' MP cost, and requires a slightly longer casting time, but both spells can be used at the same time or one after the other. Both spells must be Rank I. Certain spells with more complexities may not be Dual Cast even at Rank I. Certain spells that synergize well may increase in power or cause new effects when Dual Cast in this way.
Stronger I
You have grown stronger through tough training! Tear muscles down, and rebuild them anew! Your physical power stats have increased! By gaining at least one rank of Faster, Harder, and Better, Skill Synergy will occurr and you will gain one rank of Physical Conditioning.
Mana Control I
Your precise control over the flow of your own Mana has increased. You cannot change the base nature of a Spell Skill unless you have another Magic Alteration type Skill such as Focus or Spell Chant. However, Spell Interference from enemies is lessened, and your ability to maintain a spell or use it in an unorthodox fashion is less likely to fail. Learning a new Spell based on an already known one is less difficult.
Memor Eyes I
By expending a flash of Mana, you burn an image into your mind in a limited form of eidetic memory. This image can be recalled at any time with far more clarity than the greatest artist's sketch, and certain other skills--such as a form of Analysis--can be used on the image as if they had been used at the moment the user actually saw the event. At this Rank, only 1 image can be stored in the user's memory at a time. At this Rank, the stored image can only consist of a singular instant in time and cannot be linked to other memories. These images can be read by or transferred to others using certain mental magics--sometimes against the memory holder's will.
Buffs
Overwork III:
Stamina consumption remains the same as rank II. Self-Buff has increased. When Stamina is fully consumed, this Skill will remain active by sacrificing HP automatically. It will replace HP Drain, but its HP consumption is higher than a normal HP Drain. It will automatically deactivate if the user has only 1 HP remaining.
Shield I
The most basic of defensive support spells. An aura effect reduces incoming damage, but no physical barrier or counteractive forces are generated. Only natural resistances to damage are reinforced. Can be cast on objects.
Rabid Fit I
Fly into a mindless rage, and destroy the enemy! A sudden burst of fury grants you increased strength and damage, but you’ll become more vulnerable to damage yourself. This skill has not been activated yet.
Minor Heal I
The most basic of healing spells. In most cases, only surface level wounds are affected. Cannot cure diseases. May even accelerate certain conditions not healed by the body's natural recovery. Cast upon a single target within eyesight.
Focus I
By spending at least 30 seconds focusing before using an offensive Skill or Spell, you can increase its damage or range. At this rank it is comparable to increasing the power by one rank (eg Mana Orb I to Mana Orb II) while also increasing the MP cost by half again (spend 1.5x Mana Orb I's cost).
Offensive Abilities
Stun Fang II
- This Skill releases a paralyzing toxin into the opponent's body through a bite.
Poison Spit II
- This Skill sprays an acidic venom, but despite using the term "spray" it is more like a concentrated stream, compared to spitting water from one's mouth. It has no AoE effect.
Venom Shot II
- A smaller, more concentrated shot of poison. Faster than Poison Spit, Less Damaging, Greater Chance to Poison, Longer Range. Damage and Penetration increased.
Poison Glob I
Compare to Poison Spit/Spray: Projectile speed decreased. Projectile range slightly decreased. Acid Damage increased. Stamina consumption equal. Chance to inflict Poison equal.
Poison Breath I
-Though your poison gland is now located in your tail, your draconic physiology is specifically suited for breath weapons. This has also increased your Dragon Affinity.- Whether by magic or biology, produce fumes projected from the mouth. This skill deals very low acidic damage and has a lower chance to poison an enemy than most other poison-type skills due to its lower density, but is ranged and covers a small area of effect. The fumes have a small chance to linger in the effected area for a short time.
Mana Orb II
A simple blast of Energy elemental magic with a range of 30 feet. At the moment it only does as much damage as a strong punch on average, unless the enemy is weak to magic. As it gets stronger it becomes a generic, non-elemental energy blast. Due to its simple nature and lack of elemental properties the Mana Orb spell is easily malleable into other spell forms. Magic Damage Increased. MP Cost Increased.
Mana Slice I
A blade of magical energy made by shaping a normal Mana Orb to have an edge. It uses more MP but does Slashing damage and is generally faster.
Poison Splash I
Much like other elemental spells collecting trace elements, surrounding impurities and toxins are synthesized with Mana as a catalyst to produce this sphere of liquid poison. Upon impact, it splashes for a small Area of Effect. It may poison an organic target, and deals corrosive damage to most objects.
Poison Slash I
A Poisonous equivalent to Mana Slice. Though it has a lower chance to poison the target compared to other poison attacks, in addition to the dual acid-poison damage types it also deal slashing damage to the target. --It is more effective on softer, fleshy targets, but unlike many other poison spells it can deal damage even to well defended enemies, rather than splashing against them with little effect.-- It has a higher speed than many other rank I spells but costs slightly more MP than Mana Slice.
Fireball I
The fire-themed version of a basic magical attack. With roughly the same power, range, and MP consumption as a Mana Orb, it has the unique property of being able to inflict a burn on the target. However, as an elemental spell, these same properties render it harder to use in certain circumstances. Non-flammable or elementally opposed targets, for example, will be much less effected.
Blunt Resistance (0.2) Scribe (0.6) Faster (0.3) Acid Volley (0.1) Venom Claw (0.4) Dragon Affinity (0.45) <CANNOT BE INCREASED WITH SKILL POINTS> Slash (0.5) Fireball (0.2) Dextrous (0.8) Mana Dart (0.4) Use Light Equipment (0.7) Minor Heal All (0.1) Iron Gullet (0.9) Poison Slash (0.2) Mana Drain (0.6) Lucid Dream (0.2) Skewer (0.4) Stone Shot (0.1) Dragon Lung (0.1) Deception (0.2) Stealth Kill (0.1) Mana Affinity (0.5) Focus (0.5)
