"Um, okay.  If you say so."  Tohru shrugged.  The girl was rather off-putting.  Well, at least she wasn't fawning about her like every other girl at Claymore.  "But still, you're more than welcome to take the top bunk."  With that she gave another courteous bow and out the door she went, briskly pacing through the hallway towards the stairs.  None too soon did she venture outside, a flock of girls were already awaiting her presence.

"Tohru-senpai!  Good morning!"

"Ahh!  Tohru-senpai is so awesome!"

"We love you, Tohru-senpai!"

In her mind, the young woman was sighing bitterly, yet outside she flashed a rather debonair smile and went her way, followed with a litany of squeals and swoons from her adoring fans.

But while most were cheering and fawning over Tohru, there was one girl in particular who eyed her with an apparent disdain, albeit giving the prince of Claymore Academy a cheeky smirk.

((And this is where I'll be adding another character later, because I have to leave for work soon.))

Personality:
Soft spoken, serene, and humble, Tohru is usually quiet at times, rarely choosing to speak, but when she does open her mouth, many find that she is kind, considerate, and noble.  She is also quite flirty at times, especially with other girls.  In fact, due to her gallant and chivalrous nature and the fact most girls swoon over her, she has been given the cheeky title of Prince Tohru.  Always she is willing to put others before herself both in terms of well being and social stature and she politely converses with whomever she encounters. Tohru doesn't hesitate once to put herself in harm's way to protect others and eagerly offers her services to anyone in need, despite the danger.  Often times, she tries to quell a volatile situation with her wise and calming words before having to resort to using her sword. However, despite her calm demeanor, Tohru is a formidable fighter and will draw her sword to protect those she loves.

Background:
Being born as the only daughter to a family of mostly male swordsmen didn't stop Tohru from learning how to fight. Despite wanting another son, her father, a renowned swordsman himself, raised Tohru as if she were a boy, in order to continue the family legacy, going as far as to teach her swordsmanship, archery, and horseback riding, even a few principles of chivalry.  For what he could not teach her, her father sent her to Sabre Academy, one of the five most renowned schools of swordsmanship, next to Scimitar, Zweihander, Katana, and Claymore.  Her first year at Sabre, Tohru was given the task of being a "Knight" to a chosen maiden, a young first year student by the name of Chizuru Hanazono.  Chizuru herself was also born from a long line of swordsmen, albeit, her family were embroiled in a long, bloody feud with another family...Tohru's.  In spite of all this, a close bond formed between the two girls, and eventually Tohru fell in love with Chizuru.

However, the night Tohru finally decided to confess her feelings to Chizuru, tragedy struck.  Tohru made her way to Chizuru's dorm in the midst of a terrible storm, only to discover....Chizuru had been murdered.  A sword had been driven through her chest by an unknown assailant, the only trace of their identity left...a mysterious keychain.  Eventually, Tohru discovered the keychain belonged to a student enrolled in Claymore, so leaving Sabre behind, she vowed to find Chizuru's killer, while carrying with her the haunting and tragic memories of that night...

"Chizuru-chan...I vow by my blade you will be avenged, my love..."

Other things:
-Since she was nine, Tohru has had a recurring dream.  In it, she would witness a battle between two knights, one in white armor, the other in black.  The battle would always end with both knights running each other through with their swords and dying as a mysterious bright light engulfed the entire battlefield.

-Aside from swordsmanship, Tohru is also quite adept in archery and horseback riding.  She is even a skilled musician, playing acoustic guitar, violin, and piano.

-Her family consists of herself, her father, and her four brothers.  Each of her brothers are skilled in different disciplines of swordsmanship ranging from traditional Japanese Kenjutsu to European style fencing.  Tohru's most favored discipline is more akin to medieval knights.

-In battle, Tohru will opt to wear the traditional battle armor of the Itagaki family

-She is very quick witted and has a keen sharpened sense, able to predict most attacks before they are inflicted, giving her a split second to evade it before retaliating herself.

-When she's not in battle, she can tend to be a bit of a klutz and trip over things, sometimes her own feet.

-Her overly-humble self usually means she can be gullible and sometimes considered weak by others.

-She is careless of her own life, which means no matter the danger, she will throw herself into the path of it to save others without a single regard to her own well-being.

-She has a horse she keeps in the equestrian stables named Shear-Breeze

-Despite her physicality, Tohru isn't all that muscular, meaning she has a difficult and often embarrassing time lifting heavy objects or people.

-Though she hates to admit it, Tohru is a terrible swimmer and if she's thrown in any kind of deep water, she'll sink like a stone.

-Tohru is quite fond of classic literature, mostly Shakespeare, but she also enjoys other works.
