As Plasm made her way through the campsite towards the merchant stalls, something strange happened as she passed through a quieter area of the camp. The skull in her head suddenly became three pounds heavier.
"Observe the shelves." Grocer said as it stood to one side and made a gesture of presentation towards the shelves that stood behind it. Each shelf was stocked with an assortment of different foodstuffs and culinary components. Everything from meat to fruit to candy to kibble. "You will find the cheaper groceries on the lower shelves. The higher quality items can be found on the upper shelves." The warforged stated as it allowed its customers to shop.
Ingredients come in six different varieties, each with different prices per meal that can be made from the purchased quantity and modifiers for the rolls needed to make something from them.
Squalid Ingredients: 1 copper per meal, -2 penalty to cooking rolls. Poor Ingredients: 2 coppers per meal, -1 penalty to cooking rolls. Modest Ingredients: 1 silvers per meal, no modifier to cooking rolls. Comfortable Ingredients: 2 silvers per meal, +1 bonus to cooking rolls. Wealthy Ingredients: 3 silvers per meal, +2 bonus to cooking rolls. Aristocratic Ingredients: 1 gold per meal, +3 bonus to cooking rolls.
Meals come in two varieties, typical and gourmet. Typical meals allow the consumer to regain 1 extra hit point per Hit Die spent during a short rest, as detailed in the Prepare Meals section of the Cook's Utensil's rules. Gourmet meals do everything a typical meal does and also gives Inspiration to the consumer. The DCs for making either variety of meal is listed in the Cook's Utensil's rules.
One set of Chwegwn's eyes caught Adrian turning his gaze upward. Another pair followed that gaze up to the spider on the lintel. Orohome knew they were at the door, but made no effort to inform Kira. Perhaps Orohome had deemed the two new arrivals irrelevant, or perhaps the elder Vampire wanted them to eavesdrop as a part of a wider plan or simply as a way of gaining leverage. Either way, Chwegwn decided to take Orohome up on the offer and continued listening. As they did so, Chwegwn paid especially close attention to what Orohome was saying as they tried to deduce why the Vampire was allowing this.
Chwegwn rolls one success to intuit Orohome's motive for allowing them to eavesdrop.
