"Don't be a dumb boy. You would let people on the field of battle bleed out because your ego is too big to be called by what you really are," Deo chortled. "I'll tell you what, Lapdog, you seemed so confident in your experience of war. A friendly dual in the Courtyard. If you win, I'll learn your name, which you never told me. If I win, you come along without complaint."
"That's kind of the idea." He said cryptically. "At least until he reaches the triage camp, then it's on them." He said turning to leave. "One of my soldiers is outside standing guard." He told the princess. "Lapdog! Come with me. I'm escorting you to the front." He called to the medic as he made his leave.
'I'm sure the wounded bleeding out in the streets will see his medical care as truly needed, don't you?" He asked rhetorically. "I can't help on the marriage front. Other than that I got married when I was your age, and she died of the plague six years ago. Hurt me real hard, in here." He tapped his breastplate over his heart.
"As for a spy..." He walked over to the corpse of the Goblin that had made it inside earlier and picked up its sword. His magic armour melting away to reveal a dark coloured tunic. "I'll do anything for the people I've sworn to protect." He then walked over to one of the bodies of one of the soldiers who had died in Quincy's care. "Including defecting." With one quick strike, Deo removed the head from the body. "I'll drop the boy off at one of the triage tents before I get to the enemy lines." He lied. If he could get the Medic of the Princess's Personal Court, it would be a really good sign of faith that the Goblin King couldn't possibly deny.
"You better work fast, Princess." He said, securing his axe on his back. He took a few steps back towards the door. "Do you mind if I take your lapdog with me, out into the field of battle? I'm sure there will be wounded that need medical attention."
"Princess, action needs to be taken immediately. Either we go out there and die fighting, or we hide in here and get killed. The only thing that's certain is the Goblin King and his army are going to kill us. If we hide here, it won't just be us who dies, everyone will. Including the lapdog, you care so much about. As a Medic, his place should be near the rear, but as a leader, you should be near the front. Leading," He explained. "I may be just a Knight's Captain, but from the sounds of it, there might not be much more." He grabbed her shoulders and turned her slowly so she was facing him again. "Fire me if you want. My duty is to the people, and if I have to go against you to keep them safe, I will."

I do like the idea of the character and will accept it with one small change.

Could the Assault Drone be changed to something less terminatory? Mechanised warfare on that sort of sentient scale isn't yet used outside, so that sort of tech would come later.

The assault drone isn’t sentient. It is piloted by Tobis’s sim rig. It cannot function alone, and Tobis cannot move his “real” body while piloting it.
“Which remain?” He asked about the war council. He was no stranger to death. Having been desensitised to it long ago.
"I will treat him with respect when he earns it. He is but a child, and war is no place for children," He said with a stern voice. "Teach your lapdog some manners princess before he gets put outside."
"Actually, WE are employed by the General, who is employed by the Princess, who works for the PEOPLE," Deo said turning the young soldier who had interrupted his conversation with the Princess. "So, you may be the Princess's lapdog, but I work to protect the People of this Kindom." He looked over the soldier's uniform. A smirk broke through his serious exterior. "A field medic?" He questioned. It almost sounded like a joke. "Your just a field medic. Go back to playing doctor, and leave this to the officers." His face darkened again. "And don't you dare speak to me of losing good men. I've lost close friends to the sword before you could even carry a sword."

He turned back to the Princess. "Sorry about that. This Medic thinks he can speak to a superior officer like a child." He bowed slightly to the Princess. "Who of your War Council remains? I know the General is on the field of battle, but what of the Leightenet General? Are there any Commanders left? What of the other Knight's Captains?"
Deo turned to the Field Medic. "You do know we are at war and not a courtroom?" The older soldier countered. "The Goblin Army won't care who her parents are, aside from meaning their king gets to marry her before they kill her."
