A friend of mine once told me that 'it's only ego if you can't back it up'. Too many people like to confuse confidence for arrogance -- there's a big difference.

Not to get all psychological, but some people are actually just 'wired' to take things people say literally. I'm like that to an extent, but I've learned that people here are usually just shitposting.

Happy Anniversary, Ailyn. Six years ago, you gave me a kindred soul, and brought light into a life which for all intents and purposes had been mostly nothing but darkness.

Valentine's Day's bittersweet when you've endured a long-distance relationship for over five years. Here's to celebrating the strength of a meaningful bond, instead of taking a shallow and easy path.

This bio will get reconstructed once I've left the site for good. I'll be collecting my data in the background for now, and sorting some loose ends. I'll be on and off to do it, so don't think I'm back if you see me around. Once I've dealt with everything, I'll log out properly and remove my 'ghost' status, and that'll be the last this site sees of me. This community is in serious need of growing up, and I'm not the least bit surprised that role-plays die here so frequently.

The 'Grim Reaper's Gambit' role-play is likely to reboot elsewhere eventually. The role-play will have some modifications, so contact me if you're curious since the original project won't accurately explain everything. There's no determined date for it to happen yet, since I've got other priorities and I'm not investing a lot of time in it until enough of the people interested have free time to properly commit (lack of dedication on the part of some players practically destroyed the previous version; it's very apparent it would've died even if I hadn't decided to leave). There's a group that're quite interested, but most of them are busy.

Anyway, come back later for an update later -- or don't; it's your life.

Contact Details

Tell me who you are or I possibly won't accept the request, since I assume most requests are bots.
Yes, people who I rarely/never spoke to - or who never met me - while I was still here are welcome.
No, those who disrespected me (and aren't sorry) while I was here or are trolls/immature in general aren't welcome.
Also, keep in mind that not all of these are currently being used actively, so friend request replies might be delayed on some of them.

Playstation Network (PSN): Shoryu_Magami
(I'm fairly easy to contact through here, though I'm not really gaming much due to my main project's workload.)

Discord: Shoryu Magami#4323
(Unlike Skype, I primarily text chat on this instead of voice chat. It's currently one of the easiest ways to find me. It causes my PC a lot of problems though.)

Skype: solitaryangel1983
(Usually running on my phone, mostly so I can talk to my fiancΓ©, so it's easy to find me here. I've currently got no access to it on PC. It might take a while to see requests.)

Facebook: James Koutsoukis - Shoryu Magami
(Barely ever on this, but it exists. Mostly exists so @Ailyn Evensen can list me as her fiancΓ©. You'll find me easily on messenger if you add me, but I don't do much else.)

Yahoo IM: shoryu_magami
(Does this even still exist anymore? It used to be my main method of text chat, but it's not on my current PC.)

Character's been accepted, both publically and privately. I really like the character you've created -- this group has honestly been doing a great job putting our cast together so far. I've added you into 'The Cast' of the OOC's opening post with the others. You'll receive a tarot card once I settle on one. As usual, don't reply to it in that PM, and I leave it entirely in your hands if you end up revealing it to the other characters IC.

Go ahead and post the 'Public CS' into the character tab, using the same hider as you did here. As with the rest of the people who've been accepted so far, it's entirely at your own discretion if you take part in the IC prior to the point where I officially notify the entire group that they need to. This first part of the role-play is mostly to create atmosphere, and give some early introductions and allow some of the characters to potentially meet each other before the gathering.
@Shadow007

Ah, right. Well, rest up if you need to. Good to know things're improving though.
@Shadow007

How're you doing? Holidays been okay?
@Bishop

Had a feeling you were dropping out, but wanted to confirm it -- cheers for actually saying something.

I appreciate you noticing that I'm not half-arsing things. While I do understand your reasoning for wanting to pull out, I just want you to know - for the record, not because I want to dissuade your decision - that I'd be willing to help out with any problems that I was able to assist with. I don't completely understand the coding problem, but you don't need to explain it to me.

Honestly, I just wanted to make sure my attitude towards things was clear. I'm not trying to make this role-play unapproachable to people, but I don't believe in personally half-arsing things, especially considering it takes a lot more work and depth to make a non-fandom role-play successful than it does to make one based off a popular franchise successful.

You've each now received an additional post in your 'Private CS' PM (which you shouldn't respond to there, if you have anything to say to me), displaying the tarot card that was included with your letter. I leave it entirely at your own discretion whether or not you choose to reveal what you received to the others during the course of the IC -- there may or may not be consequences for doing so. Once others get completely accepted, they'll receive something similar.

Also, cheers for making the edit from 'Trivia' to 'Notes', Aewin.
@Bakamusume

Neko hasn't mentioned much, to be honest.

Pretty much exactly what it says on the tin -- a hang-out thread. This is mostly just a place we can chat about whatever in and get to know each other, and - as you put it - chat if we're bored too.

A lot of people find me intimidating, but don't worry -- I'm not as unapproachable as I come across as.
@Foxymew

I can enjoy romance, but I'm like you in the sense that I feel it needs to have something alongside it or else it doesn't work too well. I do have some couples in my project which I consider 'predetermined' or 'official', but it's mostly because I know my characters on such a detailed level that I understand how compatible they are and know they'd end up a thing regardless of the trials that might come up.

On the other hand, I definitely relate to the whole 'a lot can happen from point A to point B' thing -- in my main project (it's called 'Guardian Ascension', or just 'GA' for simplicity), I've basically got the final few arcs of the story set in stone because certain aspects of my plot are set up in a way that things will go down this direction no matter what happens up until that point, but the whole middle area of the series is something I plan to pretty much let write itself based on how I feel the characters would act and how all the different schemes and concepts play out.

GA's incredibly difficult to categorize under a genre, and it's more 'literary fiction' as opposed to 'genre fiction', but I believe 'contemporary fantasy' would be the most simplistic way to explain the setting itself. Generally speaking, my concepts and ideas tend to be very complex and not very mainstream.

The current role-play I mentioned I'm running is set in a slightly alternate history 2012, but also has contemporary fantasy elements. I'd say if you're interested in the whole 'out of your league physically' idea, take a look at my role-play some point. It's pretty easy to find, since the big title in my signature is a clickable link to it. Just be aware that it's also got a murder/mystery element to it.

Since I've enjoyed this conversation too, I'll toss you a shameless plug to my hang-out thread. That's usually one of the easiest ways to say hi to me on this site if you don't PM (given the way the PM system works on this site, I prefer people only use it for something they'd like to keep private). For now, good night.
@Bakamusume

No problem -- I was wondering if you'd eventually jump in here. Welcome.
@Gohan

Ah, right. I tend not to have enough time for gaming - especially in the last several years - due to the workload of my project. There's a very large backlog of games I plan to give a go when the time presents itself though.

I'll be heading up the road shortly to get supplies.
@Silver Carrot

To the best of my knowledge from their post right now and a previous one in another thread, @Terminal has pretty much the same attitude as I do regarding the way that the forums should be categorized as opposed to the way they are.

I consider myself an exclusively 'Advanced' forum role-player, and this has nothing at all to do with my writing level (which, frankly, I don't care about other people's opinions of for the most part), but rather the fact that I don't believe role-playing is something people should half-arse. It's a form of art that should be treated with passion and a community activity which should be treated with dedication -- very few things are more irritating to me than flaky players (or GMs) who just up and abandon projects or threads, or who don't make an active effort to give a project their best, regardless of their skill level (because generally speaking those who actually have dedication will improve; those who don't won't).

Unless you've got specific questions regarding things you're concerned might make it difficult for you to transition (which you're free to ask me -- I'll respond, since I only didn't respond to this before Terminal because I didn't know the thread existed), you should do as previously suggested and let your commitment level be the deciding factor.

If you'd like to, but currently don't have enough time, then perhaps wait until you've got that time.
@Foxymew

Honestly, my passion for writing is almost entirely centred around my passion for my main project. There's a few exceptions when I've role-played in settings outside of it, and even role-play in fandom-based role-plays, but as a general rule those are only exceptions. Whenever I create a new idea for a role-play, it's usually in some way connected to my main project, even if it's just a spin-off/multiverse thing. The current upcoming role-play I'm running is an example of this.

Most of the role-plays I've done with my friends in my circle are more or less considered non-canon 'what if' scenarios connected to my main project. They're essentially like spin-off stories, somehow set in the main project's world but ultimately involving plots or arcs that don't have anything to do with the official canon, or are sometimes alternate paths a canon plot could've gone down had X character been present.

I noticed you've mentioned you're into a lot of genres but prefer action (to avoid things getting boring) -- the current role-play I'm running isn't heavy with action in the conventional sense, but it'll be pretty engaging I feel. My main project has a lot of very broken characters (people in my circle have argued I've created the most powerful fictional series period), but for this role-play idea I decided to see what would happen if I put normal people in a situation where they need to use their wits and intuition to survive a situation no normal human could take on directly. It's basically a psychological/horror/thriller kind of thing.
