Current The way some people spell makes me wonder about their pronunciation.

They say it's about the journey, not the destination. This is true of many things. Pizza delivery is not one of them.

TFW you know what you want to happen but the words aren't cooperating. Why is plot suddenly so much harder to write?

Glad to see I'm not the only follower of Lord Cato, god of wisdom, on this most auspicious Superb Owl Sunday.

Bio

I am an adult, though I don't usually act like it. I'm a voracious reader, and not overly picky about books. I am artistic in a variety of areas, including music, drawing, writing, and sculpting. I have a minor obsession with dragons, and love the color violet. Fantasy is my preferred genre, be it past, future, urban...as long as it has a fantasy flavor to it. I also like scifi, mystery, and some horror. I am crazy, and I like tormenting my characters. But I don't bite...much. ^.~

@Mogtaki PLANE OR BOAT, DOOFUS.
@Apoalo So um...is that a yes or a no? If yes, I'm thinking either kid!Bits or kid!Angie. Bits is painfully shy and often frightened. It can be hard to get her to open up or even hang around, so this is only good if Tomcat has the patience to have coaxed her into trusting him, maybe even talking to him a little. Angie is bold, brave, stubborn, and sassy. She'd help willingly, but she'd also talk back. I'm not sure which I'm leaning towards as of this moment. Do you have a preference for the dynamic, since you'd be playing the other half?

@RomanAria WOO!

My first char (most likely gonna make two more)

Name: Paige Samira (originally Emily Dilysse)
Age: 17
Appearance: She’d tell you her hair is the color and texture of straw, but it’s really more of a wheat-blonde. It’s just to her shoulders, though she always has it pinned up and back, often with some sort of simple hairsticks. She has vivid green eyes and a snub, upturned nose. She prefers nice dresses, but since leaving home with Miry and the others she usually settles for very simple skirts and frocks, or just loose trousers to go with her plain tunics. She’s only 5’3”, though she frequently jokes that she’s at least taller than Miry.
Personality: To those she doesn’t know well, Emily comes across as quiet, withdrawn and a bit awkward. To her friends, she’s a sweetie with a generous heart. She’s very critical of herself, including about her looks, and often gets flustered or upset when she makes mistakes. She has trouble seeing her good traits, nor is it easy for her to accept a compliment. She tends to be optimistic, though she doesn’t smile nearly as much, even among friends, since the death of her mother. She can be a bit of a mother hen, fussing over things more than might be necessary. Threaten someone she cares about, particularly Miry, and the shy mouse will turn into a fierce mama bear, defending that person with force if necessary. Otherwise she hates fighting -- and stealing, for that matter.
Weapon: Emily was in training to be a Queensguard, so she’s pretty good with a few different weapons. Her preference is for polearms and staves, but she has reasonable skill with knives, and she knows the basics of swords. Her other favored weapons are a bit less standard. The bladed fan is a favorite, and long needles or very thin knives make excellent hair accessories.
Other: Her father was a stablehand, and the girl learned to ride young. As a result, she’s very comfortable around horses and can handle them well. She has been good friends with Miry for years, and worked as her maid. Her mother was one of the princess’s maids as well, and the girls first met when they were children. Mother and child both helped the disowned princess make it to freedom, but Emily’s mother was injured in the escape, and died not long after.
She has feelings for Winter, but hasn’t said anything to him about it, nor to anyone else.

((Just noticed that technically ladies-in-waiting are also nobles, and Emily is a maid, but....<.< that should be okay, right @RomanAria?))
The girl was soon asleep, nestled cozily between Ethan and Wyth. She slept soundly, though she did show signs of a nightmare at one point. But when morning came she still slumbered, only stirring a little when he pat her head. Amuné was roused by yelling not too long after, and she sat up slowly, rubbing her eyes. What was going on?

Beside her, the moorcat was sitting up alert, ears pricked towards the noise. Suddenly he lunged to his feet, lips pulling back from his teeth in a snarl. Whatever was coming, he didn't like it. When he went to stand over her, his girl scrambled backwards, eyes widening as Cecil and Ethan charged back into the campsite.

"What's wrong?" Amuné got to her feet, squinting into the shadows of the forest. When she saw what chased the others, she paled. Large wolves, pitch black with eyes glowing in a menacing fashion, drooling molten liquid from their toothy maws. She stifled a shriek, keeping it to a frightened squeak, and backed away. Why was nothing going right lately?

Ethan had grabbed a stick, and not a very sturdy one. How was he going to fight with that? He needed a real weapon, something that wouldn't snap the first time it hit. She dove for where her clothing lay in a neat pile and grabbed her dagger in its sheath. It wasn't very big, but it was better than nothing. "Ethan!" She tossed it underhand towards him, grateful that her hands weren't shaking badly enough to throw off her aim. Wide grey eyes watched him, frightened but trusting. "Be careful."
@Mogtaki Awww~ COME TO A CON WITH MEEEE~
@Mogtaki Why would I be confused? I'd be surprised, yes, but not confused. ALSO THE CON WAS AMAZING. I have a nice new hat and elf ears and some games and pins and posters! <3
@RomanAria hmmm, would you be willing to let someone else play a maid or something that's from her court? *loves doing characters with common backgrounds but different views*

*toying with ideas*

@Blizz Any particular reason for the age cutoff being 30? If I bring one or two of my mercenary characters caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, I usually make them a little older. Something like early/mid thirties, nowadays. I can knock them a little younger, if needed, I suppose, but I've found older allows me to give them a bit more perspective.

@Apoalo Ugh, I kinda wanna play a Paw, but none of my kids fit very well. Angie I'd prefer to play as an adult, though her sass might be fun to put up against Tomcat. Amune or kid!Bits would work, if I stripped their magic, but I"m running Amune several other places, and Bits hardly talks and usually runs away from everyone...hm.
Nikki was the child of a merchant or a shop owner.
Nikki either uses daggers or clawed gauntlets, though the latter become more unwieldy if they can't be magically summoned.
@PlatinumSkink Try going to ACEN, man. I've been nothing but busy all week, since I'm visiting family and friends I see twice a year, then heading to the convention. =P But there'll be another nine days after to write, so we should be good.
Woo! Though I'll be at ACEN....
