They say it's about the journey, not the destination. This is true of many things. Pizza delivery is not one of them.

TFW you know what you want to happen but the words aren't cooperating. Why is plot suddenly so much harder to write?

Glad to see I'm not the only follower of Lord Cato, god of wisdom, on this most auspicious Superb Owl Sunday.

Bio

I am an adult, though I don't usually act like it. I'm a voracious reader, and not overly picky about books. I am artistic in a variety of areas, including music, drawing, writing, and sculpting. I have a minor obsession with dragons, and love the color violet. Fantasy is my preferred genre, be it past, future, urban...as long as it has a fantasy flavor to it. I also like scifi, mystery, and some horror. I am crazy, and I like tormenting my characters. But I don't bite...much. ^.~

@MegaOscarPwn dude where have you been?

Be prepared for extreme prejudice from Bel. She doesn't like deserters.
@MegaOscarPwn Bel will cqc you into submission.
Belasý did not enjoy the training camp. She'd been through basic and various other training three years ago, and most of this was more of the same. But she knew they needed it -- especially the raw recruits. Westminster had been a disaster she'd seen coming miles away, and the fact they'd done as well as they had was testament to them being extraordinary individuals -- and not in the sense of having their wretched powers either.

The team building exercises that made up the rest of their training were even worse, for all that she was trying to work with the others. She couldn't handle socializing as they did, couldn't manage to break out of her shell. And they could tell she didn't want to be there, that she did not like their company. But she wanted to kill the Germans more than she wanted to be alone.

She saw the man with the thin build and the dark clothing approach their captain on his way across the yard. He wasn't a common sort, not at the training camp. Probably some sort of business, but he'd headed for Captain Stevens with deliberation. So business with him -- or with them. She wondered idly if something had come up.

She got to her feet as the captain drew near, saluting smartly and following him inside. Izkry was quietly helping another young man with German pronunciation. Johnathan was very young, the sort of green idealist that would either harden up or end up dead. If he was lucky, he'd keep some of that bright outlook, as Izkry had. If not...well, at least he'd be better able to handle the fighting.

When Captain Stevens called for attention Izkry quickly rose, draws ng himself up to his full height. The news of some bigwig turning up after lunch was intriguing, but first another run of the Currahee. He quickly grabbed his gear, catching Bel's eye as she slipped out on her way do the same. Her expression said that she thought something was up. Maybe they were going to be taken out of training early. Bel would like that.
@KaiserElectric *tips your granny right out of her chair!*
@Oak7ree out of curiosity, would my two keep their ranks from the Swiss army or anything even remotely close? Bel may have reached the rough equivalent of captain but it's more likely she's a Feldweibel -- a master sergeant (OR-6). Izkry is a Wachtmeister, or sergeant - OR-5b. At least, they are in the Swiss army. ^.^;;
"But people isn't what you look like, it's who you are," the child protested. "You think and you feel and you worry and you hope. Just like everyone else." She let go when he pushed her away, but she was obviously upset by the rejection. "There's all sorts of different kinds. Why shouldn't you be a person too?!" Was that really such a strange thing to think?

The question of what she was doing made Amuné frown. "You don't know what a hug is?" she asked, gaping. "But...but...everyone knows about hugs, right?" She glanced at Norman for confirmation. How did you even explain something like that? "Hugging, it's...a way of saying I care about you and I'm glad to see you. Glad to have you here." She looked thoughtful. "It can be other things too -- a hug can comfort or reassure, it can encourage and give strength...."

She trailed off, looking a little uncertain. "It's hard to explain, I guess? But I was scared because you were hurt -- you /were/ hurt, not just damaged! And you're okay after all, and that makes me happy and I hugged you to say all of that. Daddy says touching says things without speaking." The girl scuffed a shoe on the floor, one hand wrapping around the other wrist. "You pushing me away like that, I don't like it. That hurt. I wanted you to hug me back."

Amuné was paying a lot of attention to her attempt to explain such basic things to Cecil, and she didn't notice right away when the others entered. Upon spotting Ethan, however, she pushed away from the sturdy table she'd been leaning on and made her way over to him. "Ethan! You're okay, you're back!" She was careful of any visible injuries, like his arm, but the hug she gave him was on the tight side of gentle.
The problem with co-op ventures is that, by their nature, they require cooperation. *chuckle*
@Ozerath Where's my dislike button?! =P

Nah, you're right. And there are posts in the works, which is why I didn't go ahead and post. *nudges the thread halfheartedly*
@Mogtaki She'd let go after a good tight hug -- especially if he insists on pushing her away like that. And she'd be upset. You could keep going -- or put what you wanted to have him do before she hugged him. -.- Sorry if she's making it hard to write for him. I'd be happy to work with you on it.
@ONL@KaiserElectric Honestly I don't think any of you hate the Nazis quite as much as Bel...but then, she hates supers too. =P
