When not prepping for my D&D table, I should spruce up some of my stuff here. Not all of my old content is the garbage I presumed it was. But some things I wrote we won't talk about ....

Bumpy bump. I have new things coming by friday. Couple new prompts, some fully written post options for two prompts hopefully, Lotta fun stuff. Keep an eye out!
@Aristo Sure. Anywhere in the inner planets is technically fair game. The Mars population is by this point, probably a few tens of millions. Venus is a tougher nut to crack for colonies but I wouldn't rule it out.
I'm not dead guys! I was a bit busy with a bunch of schoolwork (being a full-time college student can sometimes eat large chunks of time & motivation). I have had the chance to catch up on all the commentary made so far ... glad to see the interest. I believe we can fit everyone in however I will be closing it once everyone here gets character sheets in, at least for now. I will consider allowing a third squad in the future (I had plans to go up to 4 - a full platoon - but the 2 co-GM limit will cap it at 3 arbitrarily).

Thank you @Aristo for handling things so nicely in my brief absence. @Ollumhammersong Aristo basically nailed it. For everyone else, I purposefully did not define what the thing looks like for the reason that everyone can hold their own image of the mech in their minds and no one person is right or wrong. In regards to loadout, you've got the two standard plasma cannons as your arms and you can attach additional stuff. Mortar pods on the back for example, or some machine guns coaxial with the cannons. Non-weapon equipment is also cool if someone wants to pitch a sniper kit with active camo, I'll hear you out. Ollum, yes. I will be signing off on these mostly for balance reasons. Once signed off on, they do go into the list. However anyone can throw an idea out and unless it's egregiously too strong, I won't outright reject it.

I'm gonna be a bit metagame-y here and give you guys the heads-up as a GM that you will need: an explosive ordnance indirect fire kit, something to put high-arc fire on threats entrenched behind terrain or fortifications that direct or low-arc fire cannot hit; an extreme-range precision direct fire kit, some kind of sniper/marksman build to deal with threats at very long range that other mechs cannot. I've been blocking out the first mission everyone gets dropped on and without these things, you will have a very hard time pressing the mission objective.

@Thecrash20 @Skyrte See above about 'no one right image'. Basically it is what you choose it to be in your mind within a few basics. As for the bruiser-with-the-wrong-chassis-piece there (yes I recognize it), there's a couple of problems bringing that particular armament into this.

EDIT: Aristo's pic is the closest to what's in my head personally. If there was going to be a definitive image of the Predator, that's definitely a strong contender.
Also I posted the character sheet in the zero'th of Characters tab. Have at it!
This is a general template for characters that should cover any information I consider pertinent. Please include any additional information you would consider necessary.

Please do not enclose your entire sheet within a hider. I like seeing my character tabs being populated. Proudly display your characters for me! It is highly recommended to post in OOC first for GM approval (I see no reason I won't approve everything I get with little to no alterations sought).
Cider ousting the constable on day one, then Kassarock upping the ante on the artifacts ... I'll shamelessly continue the ante-upping here. :)
Adrianna’s mind raced the path across the ashlands and through the craggy pass into the mountains. The mind was amazingly good at finding it's way home. She swore silently in her head, cursing her brain for returning her to that where she fled. Now was not the time to be homesick. A greater revelation dawned as the moment soaked in. All the bustle, the strangers of the tavern, seemingly some specific patrons almost, even the air around her felt ... welcoming? It wasn't a feeling that had words. It was as though some imaginary force had drawn her here to this backwater tavern in the middle of this gods-forsaken hellscape.

Humans only claimed to have five senses, but there seemed an innate ability to sense presence around oneself. Most people never paid it mind. For Adrianna the tavern was nearly overwhelming in this way, but there was more than just people here. There was an energy in the air. She stayed silent, head bowed lightly, almost meditative, just for another moment. There was something radiant; it was close to her. Her bracers felt ... different, as well. It wasn't a sensation she could describe. She supposed magic might be at work. The notion was strange really, for how would she know what magic felt like in the first place?

The clatter of a bowl of stew of some variety clattering down in front of her shook away her introspection. Her inquiry had gone unanswered as well. The wenches at this establishment were evidently less personable than others she'd crossed paths with. Though the food was no better or worse than anything else she'd been served. Brief inspection of the gruel was cut short by an unexpected inquiry.

She hadn't noticed the adjacent man’s minor revelation nor his interest in her gauntlet pieces until now. A direct address was much harder to not notice. The first thought in her head was what made it matter? Why would that be of interest to a stranger? The obvious answer was he was a thief with intent to sell them for all they're worth. She had no intent of letting that come to pass. His interest seemed ... odd. The way his body conveyed his fixation with them was similarly indescribable to the sensation of the bracers themselves. Coincidence couldn't explain this away. “Custom forged, hand tailored. Why?

The truth was that the Corvello family metalworks didn't have a blast furnace hot enough to process such a high grade steel. The metal was salvaged, smelted again, and then cast just for her. She never knew or cared about where the material came from. Why should she? Metal was metal ... or was it? She was questioning things she had no reason to question. Something was off. It was one of those things a person could feel in their bones. She waited for the inquisitive ruffian to answer, but she was briefly distracted. She heard whispers ... or some small noise. It wasn’t distinguishable quite what it was, but the feeling there was someone ... or something, over her left shoulder. She glanced in the direction out of the corner of her eye to find empty space only.

She had developed the thought that he knew something about this. How though? She could think of not one rational notion why she would suspect such a thing, yet she strangely felt confident about the idea as though some masterful authority on who he was had told her personally. Nothing about this was normal, or right, or even okay. This was myths and magic and things she had never needed nor wanted to understand. She turned her attention back to the man next to her, glancing over him many times. Did he really hold any answers? She couldn’t shake the irrational feeling he did. The uneasiness of her whole demeanor was painfully evident, and she had yet to realize just how poorly she was concealing it.
@Sierra

So is your intention to have everyone pick a mech from a smaller pre-determined 'garage' of more stock-standard options so to speak?

With two caveats:

1) Its your job to populate that garage.
2) You can switch it up whenever you like, and to an extent even mix-and-match hardware between them.

Is it a good idea to put a marksman cannon on a heavy ordnance mech already carrying mortars? Probably not. Is the maintenance department going to give you funny looks if you request that? Most definitely. Am I going to put an administrative halt on that plan? Not at all.
@Aristo I skimmed through some of those to get an idea how you ran things and what not. I definitely think you have the experience and the love of the genre for this kind of thing. Now that waiting list has absolutely nothing to do with anyone seeking the co-GM slot, and based on your experience I am absolutely willing to give it to you. That also means we've got enough player slots for everyone, which is something I'm quite relieved to say. I don't like turning people away.

I do not know if I'm going to get the character sheet up tonight (I'm going to see about it for sure). When its up it will likely be pretty standard so if anyone wants to pull one from any other roleplay and start working on it, my sheet probably will ask for much of the same stuff.
<Snipped quote by Thecrash20>

Ill just put this here since I'm not sure if im 100% going to join or not. The answer will determine if I will.

So the way I'm handling the mechs is this: The Predator is a standard issue chassis (those two images in the previous thread I pulled off of google and are not necessarily representative, you can imagine it however you want). Some of this has already been defined to give a baseline. They then come in a couple of different loadouts, or 'kits'. I have some general ideas here but I do not intend to define the kits in a vacuum. THat's something I intend to pose as a discussion amongst players. I primarily intend for the kits to affect firepower but they're not limited to just weapons. Since these aren't yet defined, there is definitely some room for customization if that's what you're looking for. There's also room for tinkering with the mechs if your character knows what he/she is doing. I trust them not to break it.

Note that this is only going to be available to my initial players. It will get edited into the first-post when we've come to agreements on what they're going to be. I expect there to be 3-5 general ones and I may include some more exotic/niche options (TBD here).
-Reserved-

Also @AstroLu @HueMan @Evil Snowman @Flamelord @Hawlin! We are up and you five, being my first respondents, get first priority on the player slots until I find a worthy co-GM (if one of you wants it, see the bit about becoming co-GM above and hit me up). Please be aware that I can only reserve your slots for 24 hours from now before ...

I offer them to @DracoLunaris @Ollumhammersong @Thecrash20 @Aristo. You guys are my second-squad worth of people. If/when I find a co-GM, you guys have slots. If someone in the first batch of tags doesn't respond in time, one of you has a slot.

If any of you think yourselves up for being a co-GM, let me know ASAP so we can get everyone here into this.
