In Depth Appearance;Bodhi stands at exactly 6 foot, his build is lean and athletic with strong arms and shoulders from years of swimming and surfing. He’s got the tan you’d expect from a native to southern California, with muddled curly hair that’s been bleached by the sun, and gray blue eyes like the ocean during a storm. He carries himself with confidence, normally wearing an inviting smile or steely look of determination. He prefers to keep some amount of scruff on his face to help him look older, clean shaven he tends to look too young for his fake ID to be convincing. He has a
tattoo of a wave on one forearm and a Silver Surfer
tattoo on the other.
When it comes to clothing he keeps it simple, Bodhi absolutely hates shirts with collars as well as ties, and when he can get away with it, he prefers to go without both shirts and shoes. He spends as much time as possible in either swim trucks or a wetsuit, frequently wearing swim trunks as shorts along with a t-shirt and maybe an unbuttoned Hawaiian shirt with it. If he has to dress nicely it’s dark jeans and a t-shirt that’s not old and faded with a pair of newish converse sneakers instead of his usual flip flops or chucks so old they’re held together with duct tape. He has a couple hoodies for the colder nights and a collection of several loud and ridiculous Hawaiian shirts which he finds entertaining.

Habits;Waste not, Bodhi grew up poor and there were nights when he went hungry so he never wastes food and he’ll definitely finish your plate off for you if you’re not gonna do it. He’s got a lot of old worn out clothes and shoes held together with duct tape, and as long as it can be fixed or it’s still remotely useable he’s gonna keep using it.
Smoker, cigarettes are a major stress reliever for him, although he wants to quit nothing really settles his nerves as quickly and easily as a cigarette does, sure surfing centers him but he can’t always drop everything he’s doing and surf while a smoke break is quick and satisfying. He also likes a smoke when drinking and during a good party.

Fears;Drowning, which surprises most people given his intense love for both surfing and the ocean but he’s come close a few times in his life and it’s always terrifying but his love of the ocean has always been stronger than his fear.
Failure and inadequacy, this thought that always lives in the back of his mind that says he’s not good enough, not smart enough to be who he wants to be and really, he should just resign himself to being the burnout beach bum so many people assume he is. That he’s wasting his time with college and he’ll eventually fail out and end up a drunk loser like his old man.

Personality;Bodhi will be casual friends with just about anyone but rarely lets people in his inner circle. He’s very careful about who he gets too close to and doesn’t give his trust out freely. To the rare person he is close to he is very loyal, always willing to stand by a friend. He’s honest, occasional to the point where he lacks tact but he hates lying. He doesn’t really do second chances, for Bodhi if someone betrays you once they’ll do it again, people don’t change who they really are so once you see who they really are you don’t forget that. He can be stubborn, once he has his mind on something and it’s rare to get him to change. Sometimes that helps when he’s working towards a goal, and sometimes it’s just being pig-headed. When he really want’s something he works hard until he gets it, doesn’t matter how long it takes if something he really wants, he’ll put the work in.
Bodhi’s always been both an attention seeker and a daredevil, he’ll do anything for a rush or even just to entertain people. He does this to the point of being reckless, and rarely thinks about danger before rushing into something. He can be a hard person to get to know and he is very uncomfortable with emotional displays. He can come off as cold and he tries pretty hard to seem unfazed by things. He can be moody and definitely has a temper but when he gets angry or upset he retreats from people, he needs to be control because his father was the kind of man who was never in control of his emotions and that’s not the kind of man he wants to be. He has a strong sense of right and wrong and judges people pretty harshly if they don’t live up to his expectations.
Bodhi has a weird sense of humor that ranges from dark and sarcastic to enjoying the stupidest puns. He tries to stay positive, wears wacky Hawaiian shirts because he thinks they’re funny and likes to make people smile. He’s quick to burn bridges and cut people, who have crossed or let him down, from his life. He doesn’t like to deal with heavy emotions, and when he can’t deal with something he’ll ignore it and focus on something else.

Background;Bodhi Fisher was born the only child of Holly Fisher, a second generation hippie, and Hank Miller, a drunk. His mother was an eternal free spirit who spent her teens and late twenties traveling around America selling handmade jewelry and sculptures. Her travels eventually brought her to a bar in Fresno where she met Hank, and nine months later the already troubled couple welcomed a son into the world. Hank constantly fluctuated between being a drunk and a recovering alcoholic, between low paying jobs and unemployment, and was constantly in and out of jail. Being around his father was always difficult due to his volatile temper and so both young Bodhi and his spent as much time as they could away from the house whenever his dad was around. His earliest memories are of his mother teaching him to surf and instilling a love of the ocean in him. He loved watching her favorite movies with her; Point Break, the movie where his mom got his name, Jaws and Free Willy, the latter two which first sparked his interest in marine life.
Neither of his parents were professionally successful, his mother tried to bring in money working at a burger joint and selling art and jewelry when she could, while his father barely managed to hold a job. They lived in rough neighborhoods, trailer parks, and were occasionally homeless. There were times when they had no electricity and no food, and there were times when things were pretty okay. When his father was in jail or during the occasional times, when he quit drinking, things were better, but mostly when Hank was around it was screaming, violence, and police sirens. When he was twelve his father was arrested for an armed robbery and neither Bodhi nor his mother have seen Hank again. He never missed his dad, life was better without him around.
Bodhi had plenty of father figures in his life through the older surfers that hung around the beaches he and his mother frequented. One of them had given him his first board as a gift when he was six and he took to it right away. When his mother was busy or had to work, there was always someone hanging around the beach to watch him and give him pointers. He learned patience waiting for his waves, he learned that hard work and determination can get you what you want, and he learned respect for the ocean. He had a difficult time in school, he hated sitting still for long periods of time and was quickly labeled a problem child. He did very well with subjects he liked, such as science, but couldn’t be bothered with subjects he lacked interest in. He excelled on his school's swim team and eventually in high school he decided he wanted to be a marine biologist.
By his sophomore year he changed from being barely a C student to an A student and from having a constant seat in detention to keeping out of trouble. He knew his after school job at a surf shop wasn’t going to put him through college and that a scholarship was his best option. So, he worked hard, he put all his efforts into his grades, volunteer work whenever he had the time, participated in school clubs and eventually it all paid off he earned a scholarship to Hollywood University. Of course, while it covers tuition, barely, he still needed money to live so officially he gives surf lessons and unofficially he pads his income with some light drug dealing, mostly pot and party drugs, Bodhi doesn’t mess around with the hard stuff and never large amounts.
