There were a lot of conclusions Heidi drew from the few sentences Laura had spoken to her, and her face and body language. Even so, she could not gauge from the older woman what her future self was like. But she wanted to ask.

"What's my future self like, besides making uniforms and time travel? Is she less socially awkward, at least? Is she married? I don't think knowing those things would be harmful to my future. Especially as I'd find that future so bleak as to justify messing with the past to stop it."

Mina, while other classmates talked to each other, studied the area, trying to so if there was any place she could be particularly useful, or at least where other people couldn't, if this was competitive at all. Inside the framework of that building would be a place where anybody with super speed or flight would get slowed down safely navigating. There were pipes and tunnels where one would have to really use their eyesight in the darkness. One good flash...

A blond boy jumped down in front of her with no warning and she jumped right out of her internal strategizing with a start, before composing herself with a sigh and looking back up at him, to see what he would say; What he wanted. She was met with one of the eye-rollingly cheesy pick up lines she'd ever heard, and she'd heard some bad ones over the past two years. The bow got plus points, though. This boy had been raised with grace. It was a pity that most graceful boys like this tried to be human and informal on the first day, rather than the good old fashioned method of drip feeding the girl they were courting any hint of their real personality slowly amidst formal and generic shows of Gentlemanliness.

"Kasuke," she answered him curtly, only giving him her family name lest he try and use her other name before the day, if it came, when she'd say 'call me Mina'. There were rules to be observed here.

"And 'not at all' might have been less painful, but then we wouldn't be talking, and god forbid that happened," she said with a slightly sarcastic tone. This girl surprisingly didn't have many friends. "So, what's your quirk? Was it something to do with shouting? I head you shouting when we were getting to class, but I didn't hear what you said or saw what you did. I was on the other side of the school."

Personality:

There’s an air of mischief about the former supervillain. Her eyes are seemingly always shut and her mouth is always sporting a sly or bemused smile. She revels in teenage drama, and gets a kick out of watching the sparks fly, though she doesn’t stir the pot herself. She’s found that the pot gets stirred plenty without her input.

Though she does her job well and takes her responsibilities seriously, she does not do so at the cost of her personal enjoyment. She finds this job fun, and during after-school hours, even enjoys a cheeky beer or two at her desk as she sorts out the paperwork.

Just because she’s not a hero, and that she enjoys drama, that doesn’t mean that she is lenient with those who misbehave. If you think she’d go easy on a student who must be punished on her watch for acting villain-like, you’d be mistaken. Her punishments are cruel, but each designed to help you grow as a hero, rather than just to teach you not to do it again. Akane’s stern, serious face, when she stops her perpetual sly smile, and opens her golden eyes revealing their angry spark, is one of the more troubling sights a student can see.

Akane's quirk is an emission type quirk. She can heat up anything she touches. The scope of this quirk is so vast that she can warm up her coffee if it gets too cold, or she could superheat stone to it's melting point, breaking a hole in a wall in the process. She has incredible control over it.

Talents:

Due to her six year career of thievery, Akane is very acrobatic and flexible if the need arises. With the weight of hero-fighting experience and knowledge on her side, she’d actually be a match for most students without even using her quirk.

Background:

Akane, even as a child, had a sadistic streak. While not a bully as such, she loved nothing more than to manipulate other students to cause drama and revel in spectating the chaos she’d caused. She was worryingly sadistic, and intelligent and cunning enough that she never received her righteous blame.

She never used her quirk in public ever since she discovered what it did. That’s because she knew what it could be used for. At first, the plan was simply to do wrong, but as she got older, she set her sights on one career path; stealing.

When she left school, she immediately started to use her quirk to break into buildings and steal the valuables without anybody knowing she had committed the crime. All they knew was that it was the same thief, and they were using their quirk, which by its nature burned any evidence which might be traced back to her, and nobody knew anybody with a quirk that could do this.

By the time she was 22, she was rich, and wanted for only one thing; infamy. Seeing the heroes and villains on television, she realised what she wanted; she wanted her deeds known, and credited to her. She wanted to be a supervillain.

She fashioned herself an elaborate costume using her ill-gotten gains, and started offering her services to clients under the name ‘Madame Obsidian’. The more challenging the robbery, the more appealing that job was for her.

Thus began the eight-month career of the professional thief Madame Obsidian. For a brief window of time she was THE supervillain all the Heroes were trying to catch. THE supervillain that everybody was talking about. It felt amazing.

She knew that it was inevitable that she’d be caught eventually, and sure enough, eight months into her career as Madame Obsidian, there were Heroes waiting at her target. She didn’t even put up a fight or tried to flee. She accepted defeat, and played up to the media during her entire arrest. supervillains who fight back until death, or act like once they’re caught, it’s game over. They’re never remembered, yet to this day the people who watched the news around that time still remember the witty and charismatic interviews given by the captured villainess.

She spent seven years in prison, in an isolated, reinforced cell, and frankly, the peace and quiet to think wasn’t that bad. The question she came back to a lot was ‘what would she do with her life now?’ She’d had her fun as a supervillain. It was time for a new life direction.

To the media’s surprise, the famous thief went straight out of prison and into a secretary course. Despite that being the whole purpose of prison, it was still rare to see a supervillain actually turn over a new leaf! The press anxiously awaited her relapse in crime, and many Heroes kept a close eye on her.

What she did next surprised everyone; She applied for a post at Komei Academy of all places! Her reasoning, as many news sources quoted, was to have some of the best Heroes in the world keeping a close eye on her as she started a new, honest chapter in her life.

She has been working at the academy for three years and she has given none of the staff any reason to trust her. She loves her new job, and she loves seeing all these confident young Heroes-in-training aim for their dreams, just as she had once aimed for, and achieved, hers.

Mina, who had already taken her seat and talked to nobody, was just awaiting the arrival of the bell. When it came, she rolled her eyes and thought 'thank god!' Their homeroom teacher was L guardian. She recognised him immediately, of course. She agreed with a lot of hat he was saying. Many of them didn't seem to be hero material to her, but then again, that's what they were all at hero training to learn. He was also right about that test seeming easy. Mina was expecting a lot worse from what her mom had warned her, but maybe foreknowledge alone had made it easier for her to know what was going on and making a plan. Mina felt she was going to like this teacher, unless he got on her case because of her unimpressive quirk. She would have to prove herself more than anybody else here, it seemed.

Wordlessly, and obediently, she got up out of her seat, left the classroom and went to her locker. On the way, she noticed the destruction and debris that had been inflicted the school since she got to class. It gave her chills. Just what could the other students do, and were they more than a match for her and her....flashy hands?

Emerging from the dressing room in her new jumpsuit several minutes later, she headed out to Training Ground Echo. It was a construction yard setup. She recalled L Guardian's advice: 'Stick to your strengths'. Intelligence and strategy. Those had to be her strengths.

After humans

After a while of walking, Eilidh's eyes were stinging, and she was coughing up spit that was more dust than water. Breathing was becoming a chore, and she didn't feel safe on these streets, being able to hear the moans and cries of creatures she couldn't see. Luckily she knew that she was near the shops that connected to the mall, and that level B2 of the mall had a subway line to the main train station of the Southeast district should she need to leave the city entirely. She could get to the slums, and through the wall as there wouldn't be guards there if the whole city was like this.

She reached the first shop that was part of the mall. It was a chocolate shop. She kicked the glass door in with her rear hooves, and fell over from the inbalance. She'd have to get used to doing that. Once she was in the basement levels, she'd try and get some practice in. Picking herself back up, she entered the shop, and then the mall proper, naturally shoplifting a small box on the way, and eating it as she navigated the less dusty mall, though it still wasn't ideal, so she descended the stairs carefully, and with her hands on the railings at all times, until she was at B1, where she went to the hardware shop and took several packets of disposable safety masks, and some very expensive looking goggles. Putting the goggles on her head but not over her eyes, she carried on to the pet megastore, grabbed a saddle, acquired some satchels from the trendy handbag store, and with a little jiggery-pokery, soon had, on her back, a saddle with a satchel on either side, that she put the masks and chocolate in.

She spent the next half-hour looting anything useful from B1. Food, provisions, a tent, and on the way to this journey, she encountered several mutated nightstaff corpses and one janitor who had fused with his floor-cleaning vehicle, and he didn't approve of her stealing. Eilidh responded to his attempts to stop her by pushing him down the stairs to B2. He'll live if he goes down the rest himself, but wouldn't be able to come back up.

She then went to the PC store to see if she could get an internet connection. That was a negative, naturally. This was the Apocalypse. She took the best computer they had anyway, and their best MHD. She'd taken portable drives containing her hacking programs from her flat before she left, which were now in her satchels. She took some cables too, for connecting to other machines if wireless wasn't an option.

After a quick meal, she sat down in the middle of the mall, and tried not to let the horror and loneliness around her bring her to tears.
