A reminder you dont need to know every detail of every bad thing. Being informed is good but being consumed achieves nothing good. You're still a good person if you have boundries with bad news

Lucinda Partridge

Location: Her apartment - The Seattle Times office
Interacting with: Colleagues (NPCs)

Most mornings Lucinda's alarm piercing the silence of the apartment at 7am would be her welcome to the day. This morning, however, was different. Lucinda awoke at 6:30am, sweat dripping down her forehead as she lay stiff in her bed, as if she was glued in place. The specifics of her dream running through her mind and making her shake. Sure, in research for some of her jobs she had seen some gory things but not to that extremity, not happening in front of her and never in the safe haven of her dreams.

After getting over the trials of her nightmares Lucinda was able to peel herself from her bed, still shaking slightly. This wasn't a normal dream, it felt too... Real. Even the most real of her dreams seemed unreal in the morning and even her most memorable dreams faded in parts but this stuck in her mind, she couldn't under this. She said her morning prayers before making a beeline for the shower, she was feeling too sticky and gross from sweat to wait for after breakfast.

Mocha in one hand and laptop case in the other, Lucinda strolled down the street to her office. She always parked at the office and just walked down the road and back for coffee. She liked to take in the city, the sounds of footsteps and passing cars and friends calling for each other; the sights, the concrete streets with patches of grass and trees at the sights, the high rise building, the varieties of people; the scents of 'street meat' and brewing coffee. Sure, city life wasn't for everyone but for Lucinda it worked.

Lucinda entered the office building, greeting her colleagues alongside a smile as she walked through the halls of the workplace. She had only sat at her desk, pulled out her computer and started booting it up when she was approached by Johnathon. Johnathon assigned the writers in her group their tasks for the next day's issue of the times.

"Hey, Luce, I know you already have your assignments for today but I have another,"

"Fire away," she replied with a smile.

"There was a murder in Philly, big thing. It's a pretty sensitive case so I want you on it. I'll palm off an assignment to Kate,"

"I'm on it Johnathon," she replies with a smile before turning to her laptop and rapidly typing in her password before looking for the case. It only took seconds but the first result was a news clip, the thumbnail looking familiar. She scarcely heard Johnathon's 'thank you'. The rest of the world drowned out as Lucinda realised... this was the girl from the dream. Every detail of her the same, even the way she lay, lifeless and in a pool of her own blood, was the same as she she dreamt it
