Shizuka stretched at her desk in her dorm room, looking at the pile of graded homework assignments, the last the class had to turn in. All that was left was the project, and then their final exam. Shizuka had made herself an early dinner to help her power through grading the assignments, which she'd return to the class tomorrow so they could use it for review. Looking at the clock, Shizuka saw that it was still quite early. Leaning back in her seat, she stared at the ceiling, feeling that the semester had gone by rather quickly and uneventfully; her birthday having passed without much fanfare. In her heart, she had wanted to meet people, but had been fairly unsuccessful and awkward, though she did have a run-in with the radio boy, Nick Weston. Most unusually though, she had picked up a new hobby.

Shizuka walked into the Lancom Arcade wearing a newsboy cap, a scarf, and her reading glasses. She noticed after a few visits to the arcade that she stood out less if she wore her glasses. She didn't need them to see, since she was only mildly far-sighted and needed the glasses for reading, but they didn't impair her ability to see farther away. One might think that it was unusual for her to need reading glasses, since that was usually a symptom of old age, but if the eyes are a window to the soul, then maybe it made a bit more sense as Shizuka had an unusually old and traditional soul than others her age. Yet here she was, surrounded by the trappings of modern culture, the noisy machines around her made with technology that was younger than she was. It was weird and exciting; none of this existed during her parents' generation, let alone her grandparents'. She found the gaming tables, taking a seat at an empty table, and pulled out her deck. At the beginning of the semester, she had met two guys who introduced her to this collectible card game, Wizardry: The Collective. At the time, one of them had lent her his deck to use, and it had been themed around the metal element, one of the six elements of the game, the others being fire, water, air, earth, and plant. Probably because of that first experience, Shizuka had also made her main deck metal element. Many who she had played against were surprised she chose metal, believing that her gender would make her choose a more 'feminine' element, as if elements had genders! While female gamers were not super-rare, they were still a minority, and Shizuka could tell; sometimes desperate guys would approach her awkwardly, or else underestimate her skill, but it wasn't something that had yet gotten out of hand or become too much for her to handle. Maybe she'd play a few casual matches and head home.
"There's an inn in town," Reas informed, "I'll lead you to it. It's just down this forest path." Reas decided that it would be harder for the woman to do anything fishy in town, surrounded by people, than to be here alone with just zirself and Elliot.
Hey, sorry for the weeks-long delay. I finally got a bunch of stuff off my plate and can get back to RPing. Thank you for having been patient.
"I enjoy reading too," Tera replied, glad to have found common ground, "Specifically I like books, it's just...different when you have a book in your hands, flipping through the pages, than just having an electronic file."
OK, sorry for the weeks-long delay but I finally got everything off my plate and can refocus on GMing this. I hope everyone stayed around, and I thank you for your patience.
@Stern Algorithm
Griffin rolled his eyes. He never too orders personally. That would be a waste of his time and energy. He was happy to do whatever they assigned him to do. Well for the most part. There were some jobs he would rather not do, but he would never refuse a mission. He had worked too hard to get where he was. He was determined to make the most of this chance to turn his life around. "I would be more offended if you left me behind."

"Well, yes, I suppose things could always be worse," Dr. McCulloch agreed absentmindedly, though she was referring to something else entirely. She kept reminding herself that of the Titans, Nephilim was the safest. "Good to know you're not taking it personally," Dr. McCulloch concluded before the chief engineer came and drew her attention away to discuss the final preparations for the Colossi.

Natalie would have given Dr. Park a harsh questioning look for his cheesy lighthearted attitude if not for the sudden psychic message from Tirapon.

'yes, yes i can here you! is hear the correct word? but anyways, yes i confirm a connection.'

Natalie then turns to Tirapon and gives him a good-natured, re-appraising smile. She then turns away and looks inward, mentally readying herself for the coming battle...

Tirapon smiled back weakly, he was glad she didn't seem angry that he had the ability to read her thoughts but he still felt bad about it. "Yes, 'hear' is an appropriate word. I'll be coordinating with you from the bridge."

The Myrmidon fleet set sail in the direction of Australia. Natalie was stationed on the Achilles, while Richard and Griffin were stationed on the Platform. Around these two main ships were various attack and support craft: battleships, recon ships, submarines, and the like. Tirapon had taken a seat on the bridge next to Nicole; though he did not have an official position, his job was very similar to hers. The fleet moved forward on dark waters for a few hours when an announcement was made that EO4 had impacted. A long while later, the fleet was hit by some mild turbulence, expected aftershocks of EO4's splashdown. Soon a thick, warm fog rolled in, conjured by the heat and kinetic energy released by such a large object hitting the water at terminal velocity. Veterans from the fight against EO2 remembered the fog from that battle. Radio contact was made, recon ships having picked up the beast with their long-range detection equipment and the fleet began to follow. Eventually, the fleet passed the impact point; EO4 was moving inland. The fleet broke out of the fog, which was fortunate; In the battle agaisnt EO2, the beast had not moved and remained in the fog, making fighting it with ranged weapons extremely difficult, drawing out the battle. Once the fog was breached, the fleet made visual contact. At first they thought it was an island, but upon closer inspection it was a creature several hundred meters long with a massive, jagged, dense shell on its back, swimming towards Australia. An announcement came to all ships from Kiritimati Base, "Our advisor has identified EO4 as the Volta Alien. 'Volta Alien' will now replace the codename 'EO4'.

Admiral Tamerlane Hargreaves of the Achilles issued his orders which were basically reminders: Nephilim was to engage Volta Alien, while Walker Rex and Frog would remain on standby. Tirapon issued these mental orders to Natalie.

Hey all, I just finished off the tail end of some busy work last night. Because of it I haven't been able to post yet, but I should have something up tonight. Thank you all for you patience.

P.S. @Cirrus, @OppositionJ, @Ivory, my character, Shizuka, is also a teaching assistant for Matsuoka-sensei's undergraduate Biology class, so if you are in that class, then our characters probably already know each other, if only superficially.

Let me know if I left out any other undergrads
Name (Surname, Personal Name): Otonashi Shizuka
Age: 22
Appearance:

Height: 166 cm (5'5")
Weight: 45 kg (100 lbs)
Likes: Animals especially cats, nature, cooking, intellectuals, philosophy, selflessness, family, order, humility, tradition
Dislikes: Cruelty, arrogance, noise, disorder, conflict, crowds, shallow attraction
Party Trick: Unexpectedly good pencil sketch portraits due to her observant nature and dexterity.
Profession: Shizuka is a starting graduate student at Shine City Academy, majoring in veterinary science. On weekends, she works part-time as a waitress at the Shining Kettle, a cafe on Shine Junction.
Bio/Personality: Shizuka is quiet and demure, but is extremely supportive and committed to friends and especially to family. To people she doesnt know, she can act formal and respectful, overcoming her inherent shyness. She is capable and skilled and takes care of herself, but her modesty is so deeply ingrained that she tends to sell herself short, downplay her contributions, and take herself for granted. However, she is not depressed, she simply thinks this way to motivate herself to always do more. She feels others are far more deserving of attention and may become awkward and uncomfortable if people become attracted to her. Shizuka lived with her parents and sister in another city, but when she got into Shine City Academy's graduate program, she moved here and is now living in the dorms. When she was younger, several boys had approached her with romantic interests and she had turned them down for two main reasons: she doesn't think they would be interested in her if they spent time with her because she considers herself uninteresting and average at best, and she could sort of tell that they were just physically attracted to her, in love with the idealized 'concept' of who they wanted her to be instead if who she really was. So she has never been in a relationship and is not looking for one, but a deep emotional connection based off of mutual understanding and real appreciation may bring her out.
A sudden influx of males, that cinches it, Shizuka's coming back:

@Stern Algorithm That's completely fine, feel free to make a new one, but we dont know what the gender balance of this city will be till we have more players

Hmm... with Dr. Matsuoka and Nick Weston returning, I'm more inclined to bring Shizuka back since she has interacted with both of them. I will wait a little longer and see the gender distribution.
