Current You could go to ask someone for a bucket of hot water and end up calling their mother a flaming bitch instead? I am, unfortunately, speaking from experience.

Haley ★ 26 ★ Taurus ★ EST ★ Casual Level Group Writer

Welcome fellow writer. I go by many names, but you can call me Haley or pretty much anything else. I stick to causal level groups here on the forum. I have a soft spot for thunderstorms, dark humor, strong coffee, animals, pretty words, feminine rage, mythologies, and all things that go 'bump' in the night. I've lived in the same small southern Appalachian town my whole life, and aim to travel one day. I'm open to the occasional random conversation, but please do not message me asking to write one-on-one; it's simply not something I do these days.

I'll toss down some interest for this one.
This weekend was just so weird at work.

For those of you that do not know, I work at a place that is a resort/private community/golf club/wedding venue kinda place. We have our own members, Wyndham guests/owners, VRI, VRBO, Timeshares, golf members, public guests, guests of members - you get the idea. I work in our main restaurant that is open year round, called Legends on the Lake. (Legends for short).

First and foremost, everyone's schedules were jumbled, because some people went back to college this week and management spaced out on making the schedule. On top of that, three servers had Covid this week.

- Our air vents are crushed in the kitchen again this summer, so my line cooks are in hella bad working conditions right now.

- We have facial recognition on our cameras at our guard house. This weekend, we were hosting a wedding where someone had been threatening to shoot the groom. Security scanned the potential shooters picture into our system, and we received a false notification that he was there when the recognition picked up on one of our members who looked freakishly just like him. Security didn't realize that it wasn't him until AFTER we canceled their wedding and everyone had panicked the WHOLE day. The wedding party had just enough time to say their vows and box up cake before our GM told them that we could not put our staff at risk.

- After the wedding, all of our banquet staff went to go work the cook-out for a large company group retreat we are holding this week. One of our staff accused the banquet bartender of stealing tips, so security searched her IN FRONT OF our customers like fucking idiots. They didn't find anything on her at all, and she quit.

- Came in today and one of my restaurant/upstairs bartenders was in tears and shaking while talking to security. Apparently one of our maintenance guys that comes in to drink all the time has a crush on her, and got upset when he saw her with her husband drinking at a bar last night. Long story short, the bartenders husband beat the hell out of the maintenance guy and the maintenance guy tried to shoot the bartender and her husband. Maintenance guy could be fired now.

- I cussed the hell out of a 70 year old man tonight because he was a dick about the pizza oven being out, and us being out of items. I'm not the kind of person to disrespect my customers, or elders, but the way this man was talking to me - he deserved every word. I told him that he could go ahead and fill out an application while I went and grabbed my spare apron from my car; If I was doing as shitty of a job as he was telling me, then he could replace me if he thought he could do better.

- My fifteen year old host was assaulted by her sixteen year old boyfriend today in the parking lot because she broke up with him after he cheated. My fellow servers took this as an opportunity to gossip about her and make the situation worse, which resulted in a manager literally telling them to "shut the fuck up".

Something had to have been in the air. We were abnormally slow in the restaurant, but still very slammed with all of our events. All of our customers were assholes to at least one of our staff in some way. There was a lot more that happened this week, but these are just the highlights I can remember from the last 48 hours.

If you just sat here and read all that, thank you.
I’m on a personal mission to get one - if not hopefully both - of my remaining managers fired.

Yes I know this can come back to bite me, and no, at this point I do not care.

My daughter drives an '03 VW beetle and it is actually in decent shape. It is, in my opinion, a glorified Go-cart. She named her car, "Linda".

I adore that. 😂💙

I plan to get the 2016 Civic sport after this. I saw it on a lot while looking for a car when I bought this one and I haven’t been able to get it out of my head since.
I drive a silver ‘06 Civic named Martha.

Martha is a piece of shit.

Her anxiety barely under control, Jasper had entered the party some-what late.

While it looked like most of her classmates were here, she couldn’t help but notice that there were still some faces missing. Jasper welcomed that fact, sighing with relief as she continued to scan the rooftop. If others were still missing, maybe she wouldn’t stand out as bad.

It didn’t take long for Jasper - or anyone for that matter - to realize that the bar was the place with the most going on at the moment. While every face in here looked familiar or reminded her of one person or another, Jasper honed in on one of the darker haired figures at the bar. Something about the way the other woman presented herself struck Jasper with an overwhelming familiarity; If only she could see her face.

As she watched, the woman leaned forward to order from the bartender. It only took a split second for Jasper to recognize one of her closest friends - Bruna. After all, who else was going to rock a black dress on the same level as herself?

Walking towards the bar, Jasper stopped in her tracks - right there in front of her were Spike and Nate.

Thankfully she had spotted them before either of them had noticed her. They were both too caught up in whatever conversation they were having, and she was standing a few feet away from them. Silently thanking the Universe for allowing everything to align perfectly to avoid whatever trainwreck that was about to be, Jasper continued on her journey to Bruna.

Jasper had spent the last ten years protecting Nate from herself, and she wasn’t about to ruin that tonight. If he wanted any sort of closure, he would have reached out already, right? If he wanted to talk to her tonight, he would find her. Jasper wasn’t about to ruin any sort of happiness that Nate had made for himself with her presence.

Now standing beside Bruna at the bar, Jasper quickly tapped her friend on the shoulder and smiled brightly.

”Bruna, my love! How are you?”
