No, because the IA is run competently without them. Internally at least. The Big X unofficially represents the IA for affairs that are both unfriendly and foreign.
Yeah, but nation-states typically don't take it all that hot when protectors, ambassadors, or delegates run into serious trouble. Disappearing is worse because it leaves so much to the unknown.

Thing is, that is a good point, but their disappearances have been noted nationally across the IA. Everyone knows the Big X, say, is gone, but no one has reported in. So it isn’t just friends, but just about everyone.
