MIA for another week, pharmacy once again doesn't have my meds ready and without them I can barely function so from tomorrow onwards I'm gonna be away while I try and get it sorted

"Well, it doesn't matter, does it?" asked Balin. He was just glad the hobbit hadn't been hurt. "He's back now." "It does matter!" Thorin growled stubbornly as he walked towards Bilbo. "I want to know..." he paused for a long moment as he looked at the hobbit before asking, "why did you come back?"
"But how did you get past all those goblins?" asked Fili, amazed that the hobbit had managed to escape all on his own when the rest of the company had needed Serena and Gandalf's help to get out.
"I think I saw him slip away, back when they first collared us." Nori spoke up. "Well why didn't you say anything?!" snapped Thorin angrily at the other dwarf. "Well, I thought he was with Dori!" "Don't blame me!" Dori protested indignantly. "I'm tired of being the hobbit-sitter!"
The dwarf prince growled angrily. "Well, that's it then. Master Baggins saw his chance and he took it! He has thought of nothing but his armchair and his warm hearth since we first left! We won't be seeing 'our hobbit' again, he's long gone!"
Mel nodded slightly and looked back at Fili when the older twin spoke up. "Will he be alright now?" "I'm sure your brother will be fine." the she-elf nodded reassuringly. "You and your group should have been more careful. Those Orcs were tracking you, they came to kill Oakenshield. Why?"
"You have nice manners," the dragon continued in a purr, though his tone got angrier as he went on. "for a thief, and a LIAR! Do you think I do not know the smell and the taste of dwarf? There is noone who knows it better!" the dragon hissed angrily as his tail lashed, knocking the gold which made the Arkenstone fly through the air, and off-balance Bilbo too, who went sliding down the mound of treasure, just managing to hide under the platform of some stairs before the dragon caught up to him. "It is the gold, they are drawn to treasure like flies to dead flesh!"
Mel cleared her throat awkwardly and nodded, placing a hand gently on the fae's shoulders. "My apologies, you simply caught me off guard, Saeril."
Tauriel glanced back over her shoulder at the town as they rode away in pursuit of the escaping Orcs, part of her worried about whether Mel was alright, and she was also concerned about what the other she-elf would do when she realised that they had left her behind.
"I...I come from under the hill." Bilbo answered carefully as he tried to subtly inch towards the stone. "Under hill?" the dragon questioned, looking partially puzzled but otherwise interested by the riddle-like way in which the hobbit spoke. If there was one other fatal flaw in dragons other than their vanity, it was that they loved riddles. "And over hills and under hills my path has led, and through the air, I am he who walks unseen." the hobbit was forced to stop moving as the dragon's head lowered towards him, he could smell his breath and he almost choked it was so foul. "Lovely titles." drawled Smaug. "What else do you claim to be?"
The gesture had surprised Mel and caught her off guard. Elves in general were not used to expressing affection quite so physically and as a result it was rather awkward for her, though she attempted to return the gesture in order to be polite.
Tauriel was not far behind him, stopping to watch the Orc retreating on a Warg. "Are you alright?" she asked him in concern. "What do we do now? Do you plan to follow them?"
"I-I did not come to steal from you, oh Smaug the unaccesibly wealthy!" Bilbo quickly tried to excuse himself, hoping he could appease the dragon with flattery and avoid becoming the Fyredrake's next meal. "I merely wanted to...gaze upon your magnificence, to see if you were as great as the old tales say." the hobbit whimpered fearfully as the dragon growled loudly and stepped around the pillar so that the hobbit was aware of exactly how vast and large Smaug truly was. "I did not believe them!" "Well, do you now?" the dragon asked as he stood tall and proud before the hobbit.
"Go, go!" Thorin growled, nudging Gloin and Oin along after the other dwarves as they obediently scrambled through the opening. Once everyone else was through, Thorin gave one last glance back towards Serena before jumping out of the opening himself. The dwarves kept running down the mountain side until the slope had evened out somewhat and they could slow down to catch their breath. "Is everyone here?" Thorin asked, out of breath, as he tried to count who was there with him. In all the chaos that had ensued in the goblin tunnels, none of the dwarves seemed to have noticed that Bilbo was missing, until now.
"I don't know, wasn't it Wingardium something?" frowned Melanie as she tried to remember the incantation herself. She turned towards Oliver as the older boy offered to turn them into birds and quickly shook her head in protest. "Oh no no, no thank you." she mumbled. "As much as I would like to fly, I'm not very good at it, I can't even steer a broom."
It was only partially true of course, Melanie had never been talented at flying, however her chief concern wasn't so much the flying itself, but the snake that was curled up in the pocket of her robes. And she couldn't imagine the trouble she would get in if someone found out, and even worse, told one of the Professors, that the reptile wasn't kept in an enclosure in the dormitory the whole time, as pets were supposed to be.
Thorin blinked and took it from the mage, nodding his thanks as he tucked it safely into his pocket. "Thank you." hurrying ahead he called. "Quickly now, I think I see something up ahead!" "Uh, Gandalf..." Kili called nervously as he looked behind them to see the sea of angry goblins charging towards them.
