"A gigantic pain in my ass, that's what they were." Aria groaned, leaning her head back to look up towards the ceiling. "You really don't have a clue how this whole thing works, do you? Bracknell is one of the Masters on the Dark Council. Everyone who's anyone on Korriban wants to impress them, if you can you'll get a formal apprenticeship with one of them, have a chance at making something out of yourself. Everyone who can't make the cut dies, no-one leaves that academy alive unless they earned it." she was careful not to give away too much information that could be used against the Council or the Empire but it was amusing to have the chance to explain something so basic to him and make him feel a bit of a fool for not knowing.

"Every acolyte that comes into the academy has to make an impression to have a chance of being considered, each Master only takes one apprentice. If you train hard enough, you might get lucky and get noticed. But we're all competing at the same time, for the same thing. Everyone wants the prestige, wants to be better than the other acolytes. Sometimes fights break out, it's pretty common for students to try and kill each other, get rid of the competition and all that." Aria shrugged nonchalently as if it weren't that ghastly of a concept to comprehend. "They've been trying to get the jump on me for six months, started out with just the Zabrak but when she couldn't beat me on her own she got together a little posse to help her. I've been going easy on them, I let her go with a broken shoulder last time. Guess she decided she wasn't ready to call it quits and admit she wasn't good enough to pass the initiation test."
Ugh, preach it XD I've pretty much ignored a lot of the more recent/modern games because the characters/storyline etc. just SUCK compared to the really nice, old games like KOTOR and Dragon Age and all the rest of those :P
Aria huffed out a breath as she sat up when the shuttle finally stopped rocking from side to side and levelled out. "Who taught you to fly, a bloody drunk?!" the way she clasped one palm against her forehead would prompt the conclusion that the clanging sound had indeed been her head connecting with the wall as they had exited the planet's atmosphere, even if she didn't confirm it directly.

Shifting to a more comfortable sitting position, she met his gaze but remained silent until he spoke first, apparently having been exhausted of any other verbal jabs for the present moment.
"Aria." she muttered, dropping her hand back down to her side and smirking wryly. "In case you missed it." her brow furrowed as she tried to recall when it was that Lysa had first appeared on Korriban.
"Yes, I would say so." the acolyte answered slowly, counting off a few dates or months (she never vocalized exactly what it was she was counting) on her fingers, she nodded again when she was sure that the timeline worked out correctly. "Probably about a year or so ago, yeah."

"I thought she was just another wannabe. Y'know, a Jedi washout that didn't get the glory she was hoping for out of the Order." another smirk played across Aria's features as she leaned back against the seat, trying to relax as best as she could being stuck in a shuttle with someone who was supposed to be her enemy. "We get a lot of those showing up, 'specially recently; most of 'em don't last a month. Turns out she was much better than that."

She couldn't say for sure whether Lysa had had a genuine interest in joining the Empire's regime or whether she had indeed been a Jedi spy as the rumors seemed to indicate. Aria had never made much of an effort to talk to Lysa beyond the taunts the pair had exchanged in the duelling rings once or twice.
"If she was faking it the whole time, then she was pretty good with mind tricks and concealments, to hide her intentions from the Dark Council like that." it was the closest thing to a compliment directed at Yerbol's sister that would likely ever leave Aria's mouth. "If they had suspected even for a moment that she was intending to feed intel back to your Order they would have killed her long before they let her contact you...or maybe they were screwing with her the whole time, testing her to see what she would choose when you turned up." Aria shrugged in conclusion. "You probably don't want to even consider that your sister would stab you in the back like that, so hey if it makes you feel better to think she was still on your side, don't let me stop you."
I have yet to play Mass Effect actually, but yeah I always liked how you had to go through the dialogue to advance the plot in KOTOR. I like action and all as much as the next person but without dialogue and/or character development it gets very...2D? I find that I enjoy the games that have a decent mix of dialogue and fighting/questing a heck of a lot more than the ones that are just "let's blow stuff up and kill people", definitely agree with ya there lol
No problem, definitely a good idea to slow down a little or else character development could get a little tricky O.o XD
Oh phew, I was worried it'd come off as a little slap dash but I was trying to avoid the really bad "appears out of nowhere for plot convenience" trope XD

Eeek, slightly sloppy ish writing (at least it kind of seems that way when I re-read some of it D:) in the last couple of paragraphs, but I hope it's at least a semi-believable way to put her up to the sleeper agent role without making her father seem too out of character for a Sith lord by helping her out too much or something XD
Aria paused mid-step and turned to face the three new Sith apprentices as they appeared. As she spoke, her hands closed around the hilt of her sabers.
"You three idiots again? Haven't you learnt your lesson yet?" Aria sneered, forcing herself to walk on her ankle despite the searing pain. Showing any sign of weakness would give these thugs ammunition to use against her and she couldn't let that happen. Not now, after all the effort she had gone through to impress the other Masters. She tried not to shift her weight too often and hoped that her slightly altered stance would be attributed to the uneven surface of the ground. They never had been awfully smart, after all, and likely wouldn't notice as long as she kept up the facade. "I thought I gave you enough of a beating the other week, ready for another one so soon?"

Igniting her own blades, Aria circled towards the remaining two recruits, parrying a blow from the human male as he lunged for her. They'd gotten stronger since she'd last clashed with them, giving her all the more reason to kill them this time or they would become another thorn in her side later on. They exchanged another few blows with neither landing much success until his foot slipped into what must have been an old excavation trench that the sandstorms hadn't filled up yet, giving Aria the needed opening to finish him off.

When she turned to deal with the last remaining opponent, Aria found that they had lunged for Yerbol at the same moment the Zabrak female had, attempting to come up on the Jedi from behind. She considered leaving them to it and trying to make a run for it back to the academy, either way one of them would kill the other and she could deal with the consequences of it later, but not before she had claimed the credit for killing Lysa (and Yerbol too, if she could pull that bluff).

She stopped short, however, as a familiar presence connected with her own consciousness, somewhat surprised by the instructions that she was given.
"Wait. If he is fool enough to place even some trust in you, then let's use it to our advantage. Go with him."
Aria recoiled sharply.
"You want me to what?! Why?!"
"We do not yet know where their Enclave is, how many of their Masters are left and where their greatest weaknesses are." he answered patiently, a hint of amusement in his tone, "Imagine how impressed the rest of the Council is going to be if you can bring that information back to the Academy for us. I know you can pull it off."

Something told her that this was another idea of his that none of the other Masters or Council members knew about just yet. It seemed like an absurd suggestion to Aria, help a Jedi? Pretend to be one of them? But she had little time to argue, her father's suggestions had served her well in the past after all. And it certainly did hold guarantee of gaining their attention directly, rather than having to bother with any more of these stupid missions to gain more prestige than the rest of the students. Killing Lysa had worked out rather splendidly, but if Yerbol managed to escape with the artefact then the whole task would be for naught and would do nothing but invoke the Dark Council's fury. There was a hidden implication in his voice that indicated he would not save her skin this time if she made the wrong choice. She agreed to the assignment, turning quickly to make the jump towards the two lightsaber duelists, she drove her blade through the remaining thug's torso before he could swing down on Yerbol's head.

"For a Jedi, you're pretty terrible at watching for attacks from behind, aren't you?" she scoffed at him, rolling her eyes. "Hurry up, would you, before someone else sees us and we have to fight through every damn recruit in the Academy to get off the planet."
The acolyte doubled over, grimacing in pain and with some difficulty managing to force enough movement out of the spasmed muscles to throw her hands out in front of her to break her fall as she hit the floor of the chamber. Sitting up carefully, she narrowed her eyes at the Jedi's retreating back as Yerbol made his way across to the pedestal and began to try to remove the sphere situated on it.

"I could probably find one of them, yes." Aria answered slowly, barely stifling her snort of laughter as the sphere containing the map detached suddenly and Yerbol fumbled to catch it before it rolled out of his hands. Wincing again, the acolyte flexed her injured ankle carefully testing it while hoping that it would still take her weight if she was careful enough. "Whether or not I can walk that far on this ankle, is another story." she concluded, her eyes narrowed at him in an accusatory glare.

Bracing her hands against the wall of the chamber, Aria pulled herself to her feet and returned to retrieve her own sabers and cloak. While she had never been in this chamber before in her previous explorations of Naga Sadow's tomb, many of the secret passageways were the same and it wasn't all that hard to find them provided that one knew what they were looking for. By methodically searching the room, the Sith acolyte eventually uncovered one such passage behind what had at first appeared to be nothing more than a simple statue.
"Behind here!" she called back to Yerbol, her brow still knitted together in a tight scowl as she tried and failed to shift the stone carving on her own. "I can't move it, but the 'wall' behind it is hollow. Probably loops back round and comes out near the entrance."
