Does this ship really need me? Rif thought as he felt the acceleration of the Ionera as it left port. Bracing himself against the walls of the ship until it was no longer necessary. They had left early and while he wonderd why. He was more concerned with his role on the Ionera.

Rif had thought that a doctor like himself was needed aboard Starfinder vessels like the Ionera. But it had turned out this was not quite the case. While he was accpeted and assigned to this ship, there was not a assigned role for him that fit his background. Instead of being medical officer on the Ionera. He is a assissant to the quartermaster.

Rif started walking to his station, he did not know how to feel about this being a assissant to a postion that he has little experience with. To a part of him it felt insulting since he is a doctor, not a quartermaster. But it seems like his profession is not as needed on the Ionera or with the Starfinder Society to his dismay.

He sighed as he pass another corrider. Still Rif is going to do his job even if he is bad at it and he still can be a doctor if someone gets hurt. Who knows he might just be good at helping the quartermaster and organize and keep count of supplies for the ship. Though he has yet to formally meet the person he is helping and hopfully it will be a plesant encounter.

As Rif reached his station and saw that he was alone and his quartermaster was missing. While this meant Rif could just relax and maybe spend time messing around before the quartermaster arrives. That was not him and so he choose to do his job. Even if he is a assissant, that does not mean he has to be with his boss to do his job. So Rif went over to a computer terminal and started reviewing the infomation for what supplies the Ionera is suppose to have and start his duties. His metal fingers typing away at metal comptuer keys.

So starts Rif's first day aboard the Ionera and hopefully the start of a good venture with the Starfinder Society.

Background:

Role: Royal Knight
Backstory: Markiel is the youngest born to the Northern Sviatolev family. Born during the civil war that has ravaged the Jugkrai Kingdom. Markiel's early life was spent in his family's castle, staying safe as his father waged war to claim a title that he felt belonged to him. Learning the art of war and other topics as he grew older and watched as his older siblings endured strict training at the behest of his father. Strict training that he would undergo and find to be demanding and, at times, cruel. For his father wanted his children to be the best at war, so they could aid him in their fight with their cousins in the south.

But as the war drew on and more lives were lost. Markiel started to have second thoughts about the civil war and his father's drive to be king. Thoughts he would share with his mother, who while kept what he thought to herself. She tried to discourage him from such thoughts and to be a good son and support the family's claim to the throne. Markiel would listen to his mother's words, but still became more disillusioned with the civil war. More so, he started to notice that his father was growing more ruthless, and even his older brother, the heir, who was a kind man. Started to seem off to Markiel and was becoming more like his father. Then his other siblings seem to start to follow suit.

Markiel could not find a reason for this, and when his father discovered his thoughts about the civil war. He was brought before him in the throne room for all to see and was chewed out by his father. It lasted a good time, and by the end of it. His father would choose in anger to exile Markiel, and he could only return once he proved himself strong enough to bear the family's name and understand why only their branch can be rulers of the kingdom.

Markiel saw how none of his family stood up for him and let this happen unopposed. He begrudgingly obeyed and left the kingdom so after. But before he left, one of his sisters and his mother gave him gifts to help him on the road, and hoped that once the civil war was over and his father's anger would lessen. That he could return and reconcile with his father. A sentiment that Markiel did not share but chose not to reveal to them. He accepted their gifts and was reminded that some of his family still cared for him. Even if they would not stand up for him when he needed them.

So Markiel, after his exile, made the choice to see the world. Live on his terms and cared little about the requirements of returning home at the time. This brought him some peace as he saw a world that was at peace and not in a continuous war. Opening his mind to new things, he would be happy exploring and seeing the world. Becoming an adventurer, and for years it was like this, and Markiel had no plans of stopping. Though he would keep tabs on the civil war back home. Hoping that once the civil war was over, peace could return to the land, and who knows. Maybe his father would relax, and he could return. But until that day, life on the road was his, and a life of adventure was his life for now.

Character Intro: "So that is Ealdormuda," Markiel said to himself as he gazed at the city from afar. Standing on a grassy hill that gave a good view of the city. He could feel the warmth of the sun on his face as he gazed at the city. He has heard much about the capital of the Eahamingas. Good things, and now it was his next stop.

He had never been to this city, but after his last job as a caravan guard. Markiel had heard enough about the city from the guards and the traders that he should visit the city. At least once, and he could only imagine what he would find there. He has not been in the land of the Eahamingas long and is eager to explore more of the land. Once he was done with the city, that is.

Then, as he finished surveying the city from afar. Markiel had a thought, and he reached for his necklace that was hidden on his neck. Loosely holding it in his hand as he inspected the sigil on it. How would his family think of his travels? Markiel knew the answers to that, or at least what his father would think. Bitter thoughts began to invade his mind. He closed his hand over the sigil and went back to hide the necklace on his person. Expelling the bitter thoughts from his mind in the process.

No, he thought, now is not the time for thinking about his family. More so him, and so with his last thoughts becoming focused on the now. Markiel walked down the hill in a casual manner and with a warm smile. He began his final trek to Ealdormuda. Time to see what the city has in store for him and what tales he will hear. Time for maybe another adventure.

What to Know

how would you describe their personality?
Zane is one who normally sticks to the background despite how hard it can be for him to do so. Being rather tall for his age, and having the body made for football. You would expect him to be in sports and be among the popular kids. But instead, he prefers to stick to his own drum and be in the background. For he does not care much about being popular or being known to people. Just being able to do his own thing and be with his friends and family.

So Zane may be seen as some as shy, or maybe weak mentally. But, as one bully learned. Zane, when pressed enough or when a friend is in need of help. He is willing to show what happens with someone messes with his friends. A fact that may or may not be known to people who barely know him. Another fact is how he helps others when no one else would and stands up for them.

Besides that, Zane likes to be honest with people and not try to screw someone over by lying. Even with people he dislikes, but in that case, he may just stay silent.

Still, Zane is one you can count on when needed, and when his friends or when someone needs his help. Zane is there for them, and that is just him, and as a quote that some say describes him. "Talk softly and carry a big stick."

what has their life in Angel Grove been like?
Zane's life in Angel Grove has been a quiet one, though not a long one. He has only been at Angel Grove for six months now and has yet to really make a name for himself. His family moved here since his father, an ex-military turned mechanical engineer, found a job there, and his mother became a trainer at a local gym. Outside of some circles that saw him in action, either during gym class or when a bully threatened a new student like him.

Though he seems out of place since moving to Angel Grove from West Virginia. Since Angel Grove is vastly different from his hometown in West Virginia and he is still some ways adjusting to his new home. More so, despite being in town for six months, Zane has only made a small number of friends who are just like him. Newcomers from elsewhere and hanged out with each other to help adjust to the city. Barring one friend who is a native of the city. So a quiet, if boring at times life to others, barring some moments of interesting events.

what can they do? what are they good at?
Zane is physically strong and was taught how to fight with fists and guns by his father. Plus he was trained to be strong and fit by his mother. Leveraging his strength to help end fights fast before things get drawn out. Along with being a good spinter, he has good stamina, so he can last a good bit. That, and he can take hits and still be able to fight.

Otherwise, Zane is good at seeing if people need help or not. Even if they do not wish to be helped, and he tends to notice things that others miss. Plus, he is surprisingly good at sneaking up on people and blending in when he can.

how would they react to danger?
Zane's first instinct when there is danger is to see who is in danger. If there are, then he will try to help out the best he can. If that means putting his life on the line or having to fight. Then he will do it despite knowing how dangerous it is. Zane is not one to sit out when people need help. Especially if it is someone that he knows is in danger.
