No one's forcing you to join the RP. Your "exceptions" actually fall well within the rule.
@BeefJerkyHello! We haven't really defined anything, so we're still looking, yes. I don't believe that should be a problem, unless you end up accidentally copying someone's weapon or Semblance or something, but that shouldn't be too hard to fix. Just offer your ideas first to any of the three GM's, AdmiralStalfos, EnterTheHero, or myself, or in the group in general, just for clarification.
The devil's in the details, mate. Someone would need a good reason in-world to have a name that breaks the rule. You say it's strict or silly, I say it creates narrative cohesion.
@Lemons Yes. Yes there will. We will be playing in Shade Academy, so yes, teams. But don't worry, we'll endure the headache(s) of setup together. I'd like to say we're maxing at 12 characters, but aiming for 8, I guess.
@Nyahahameha I don't see it that way. We're already taking our own little liberties on the GM side, but that is a facet about the World of Remnant that makes it interesting.
But like, did no one pay attention to that big speech Ozpin gave? About the end of the Great War, and why it is that it's a global majority trend?
@Lemons Nora comes from Lenora, which I'm pretty sure means white. Jaune is literally French for yellow. So, not sure which loose ones you're talking about. (Tori is a victory or a bird so it's fine.)
Oh I hadn't really looked into the character sheet yet and at seeing it there's something that's somewhat bothersome. The color naming rule.

"Bothersome"?
For starters it's barely even applied in the show itself and most 'connections' made by fans and such on wikis are speculation at best. Most connections are so loose it barely matters. Yang in particular being a dragon (which definitely describes a color /sarcasm). And others just don't even have one.

Grossly incorrect. Yang itself is Chinese for yellow, or a close approximation thereof. Yang Xiao Long means "Sunny Little Dragon"
And it seems like roleplays that use this rule seem to forget the more important aspect of RWBY characters. That they're all based on some kind of legend, lore, or history. Such as Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks, Joan of Arc, Snow White, Thor, Wizard of Oz, and others.

Don't worry,I'm doing that too. This is my problem, so you don't need to worry about it. It's just something to ask in private, as opposed to putting it on the CS. That ruins the fun, just a bit.
Either way, not my thread. But this focus on the color naming rule in every rp i've seen for rwby has gotten on my nerves, particularly when it always discounts the character I want to play unless I make the loosest connection. (Though I guess that would be how the series does it anyway so whatever)

Why would the color naming theme discount the character you want to play? The Color Naming Rule has in-world justifications. So... should I assume that you didn't get past Volume One?
We're still getting things organized, guys!
You're all slow, I'm asserting my dominance over the class already.

I already have a CS in dude. lol
