While the majority of the student population was just getting started with their days, a dark-haired young woman had already laid claim to the gym of San Agustin Academy. Trap music blasted through her wireless earbuds, drowning out the sounds of metal against metal and the loud huffs of effort as her chest rose and fell. Beads of sweat covered the girl’s forehead as she lay on the leg press workbench, her calves muscles flexing each time her feet lifted the weights. Although Soleil Jameson was far from being a morning person, sacrifices had to be made if she wanted to keep herself in peak shape. Discipline, she had learned early on, was everything.

But things are not always what they seem, and there was another reason as to why Sol was going so hard this early in the morning. Yesterday had been just another lazy Sunday- the only day out of the week in which Sol allowed herself the freedom to rest. Eating, watching football and horsing around with the guys was part of the routine. And yet another part of her day, and a secret she guarded fiercely, were her late nights spent in the company of one Theodore Wallstrom.

It had been a particularly hot Sunday in New Mexico, giving way to an equally sweltering evening. Sol and Theo’s first few moments together were spent bitching and complaining about the heat, both too annoyed at the weather to be their regular cheerful selves. A brief moment of awkward silence had fallen upon them before the young man had made his statement: it was hot, he said, and he was going to take a swim. ‘But you’re not wearing any swimming clothes’ Sol had innocently pointed out, frowning at her friend as if he’d lost his mind. Yet Theo had merely smiled at her, shaking his head in mock disappointment of her words before standing up, stripping down to a dark pair of boxer briefs and gracefully diving headfirst into the crystalline waters.

Soleil’s breath had caught up in her throat as she watched Theo swim his way around the pool in all of his chiseled glory. The dark-haired girl’s stare was fixated on her friend, staring at him in a reverent sort of silence, her green eyes wide with surprise and amazement. Eventually, the man turned his attention back to his friend, and signaled for her to join him. And there was Sol: stripping down to her own sports bra and boyfriend undies and diving right in after him.

The sounds of water splashing and their amused laughter filled the air and echoed around the room. They’d been catching their breath after a friendly race and a round of splash wars when Theo had wrapped his muscled arms around Soleil and pulled her close, with that breathtaking smile of his still on his face.

For a moment, the world stood still as their eyes met, and everything else seemed to fade into nothingness. Then he was kissing her hard, passionately, with the urgency of a suffocating man who’d just found his first breath of oxygen. And Shady was kissing him back even harder, putting into action the whirlwind of feelings she’d been holding back on since the day they’d first laid eyes on each other back on the first day of school. Caution was thrown to the wind the longer they held onto each other, letting their hands explore the other’s bodies and doing off with the pesky fabrics getting in their way. Soon enough their bodies were on fire and melting into one, and her nails digging into his back as he made her his-

And that’s when her alarm had so cruelly signaled the arrival of a new day.

Fuck.

The loud clang of the bar and weights falling and crashing across the floor after a particularly violent lift brought Soleil back to her senses. Cursing under her breath, the young woman angrily rose from the bench and busied herself with picking up the gear and carefully placing it back where it belonged. It was pointless to dwell in the thoughts of what could have happened had they not been interrupted by campus security when she dove in after him, and a damn shame that she was letting her impulses get in the way of her training. There was no time for boys in sports, and most definitely no time for drama in Shady’s life.

An @Amore & @Rosalia Collaboration
Featuring Cassian Lee & that bitch Lola Russo

When the time came for Emilia to finally step back from her podium and exit the room Cassian was among the group of students who groaned out loud. Perhaps his reasons weren’t the same as theirs but right now he could empathize with him. Apparently, it wasn’t enough that his head felt like it was going to explode and his swim coach was waiting to pounce on him at practice tonight after learning how much he had drank, but now this information?

She’s going to kill me

Eventually he followed suit behind the crowds of people out of the auditorium, his eyes scanning the crowd for a familiar face, he would’ve taken any of the people he knew and.. mostly liked. Luck has it his eyes landed on a furious looking blonde bombshell who had stormed out and disappeared from his apartment that Saturday night, after not quite getting what she wanted.

There’s no way she was still…

“You look as peachy as ever. Getting in touch with your lawyer to sue ‘queen’ Emilia?” His voice was relaxed, and he leaned against the wall beside her with his arms loosely crossed against his chest.

Although Lola had clearly heard Cassian speaking to her, she chose to act like the grown up she was and pointedly ignore him. She continued to angrily tap away at her phone instead, and even went as far as to begin her trek away from the immediate auditorium surroundings without so much as a glance at him. No matter how much she thought about it, the blonde still struggled to understand how he had the balls to even look at her after the humiliation he’d put her through.

Cassian let out a sigh and was half tempted to let her walk away, playing these games was never his cup of tea, but Lola was his friend... and this was his job, or something. So he pushed off from the wall and quickened his pace to catch up with her. Being a good seven inches or so taller than her allowed him to easily match her pace once he caught up, and fed into his nonchalance when addressing her. He might have caved in and chased after her, but he wasn’t going to acknowledge her pouting, at least until she acknowledged him.

“So you want to take a stroll around the courtyard. Seems redundant. Why don’t we sit down and chat.”

“I’m not interested,” she answered curtly, still refusing to move her eyes away from her phone screen and tearing across the university’s courtyard. It didn’t take a genius to realize Lola was still very much upset about the events that had transpired between them after the party, and had no plans to ever forgive Cassian for it.

“Can’t you play nice while I’m chasing after you? Lola, slow dow-“ Cassian grumbled, cutting his words off sharply as he planted his feet in the same moment he grabbed her bicep. Despite her attempts to power walk through the courtyard to get away from him, he was able to momentarily cease her movement and then continued what he was saying while standing somewhat nearer to her, “On the contrary to how I may come off, I don’t go about my day with the intentions of pissing people off… Well, save for Theo-- he deserves to have his fragile feathers rustled… but definitely not my friends. So stop being a brat and just talk to me, Lola. Why are you walking in circles to get away from me?”

If Lola had been annoyed before, it was nothing compared to how furious she felt when Cassian grabbed her by the arm and forcefully turned her in his direction. How dare he lay a hand on her?! “You think you can just make a fool out of me and then come around acting as if nothing happened?” she hissed, jerking her arm away from his grip and looking like she was ready to gauge his eyes out. “Come on, Cass. I thought you were smarter than that.”

“Make a fool out- what?” Cassian’s confused expression almost broke out into a grin as he connected the dots and had to pass off a rogue chuckle as a cough into his hand before continuing in an even tone. “Lola, are you serious? You’re mad at me because I didn’t sleep with you? Come on.” This time he couldn’t help but conceal the slight upward shift at the corner of his lips. Truthfully he was amused, usually girls were appreciative to not have a drunk asshole trying to sleep with them but here was Lola, wishing him dead with just her narrowed eyes.

If Lola had been upset before, the blatant amusement painted all over the smug bastard’s face didn’t help matters. At this rate, she was honestly taking internal bets as to how long it would take her to crack. “It’s not that you didn’t sleep with me, Cassian Lee-” she began to explain through gritted teeth, her usual cool and collected composure now hanging by the thinnest of threads. “It’s the fact that you led me on and then fucking turned me down because you’ve got some ugly little tomboy in the back of your mind!”

Cassian could see that she was angry, hell the whole courtyard could see it on her face if they looked at her, but there was just something humorous about the situation. And even despite the risk of Cassian looking like a “genuine asshole” he couldn’t hold back the laughter anymore. Not quite doubled over, he let out a good, hearty string of laughter and shook his head in disbelief, where the hell did girls like Lola even come from?

The crisp, hard slap across his face that could have rang across the courtyard was drowned out by the sea of upset students exiting the assembly. But it seemed that not even Lola’s physical gesture of rage was enough to phase him, because Cass was still looking as fresh as he did before. Instead of releasing her anger, his unphased expression only served to fan the flames.

“Fuck, Lo, I’m sorry for that, truly-” Cassian choked back the last of his laughter, ”It’s rude of me to laugh like that when you’re obviously on the verge of morphing into the green-eyed monster, but me leading you on? How did I lead you on? You were banging my best mate in our flat all last year.”

Of course, Lola decided to follow his example of ignoring what he was right about and focusing on whatever else he had said instead. “Hmmmm, let’s see-- ” she began, pretending to think for a second as she raised her fist in the air and lifted a finger for each sin Cassian had committed against her. “You took me back to your place, you kissed me, you had your hands all over me groping me everywhere, you took my clothes off, and when I’m down on my fucking knees is when you suddenly change your mind?! You don’t think that’s fucking humiliating?!”

“You weren’t on your knees-” Cassian started but quickly moved on from the unimportant detail while Lola’s death glare intensified, “Lola, I was drunk. I wasn’t trying to humiliate you, I was being responsible. Being told ‘no’ isn’t the end of the world. Do you really think we should be sleeping with each other when we’re honestly interested in other people?”

And there it was.

The blonde could only shake her head and let out a dry, sardonic laugh. “I knew it,” Lola growled coldly, in both satisfaction and rage. “I fucking knew it.” It was as if something had snapped inside of her. The boiling anger that had been coursing through her veins just moments before slowly turned into ice, filling her with a wrath of steel she’d never quite felt before. An odd sense of calm seemed to settle upon her, and it reassured her that the steps she’d taken on her way to a well-deserved revenge had their merit.

“Knew what, Lola? That I’m interested in someone? It’s not like I’ve actively tried to hide the fact. But great deductions, Nancy Drew: you’ve cracked the case.” Cassian replied with a good deal of sarcasm, his arms drew across his chest a signal that he was getting tired of the conversation. With how the rest of the day was sure to go, Cass was growing increasingly disinterested in Lola’s tantrum.

The young woman snorted, and even cracked her first smile since this whole conversation with Cassian started-- an eerie grin with pitch-black eyes as lifeless as a shark’s.... That dangerous calm before a raging tornado. “Then I guess all that’s left to say is that I wish you the best of luck on your little safari adventure,” she said with a small shrug, seemingly about to turn on her heel to make her exit but stopping herself to face Cass again instead. It was time to drop the parting grenade.

“I just hope you’re both able to find the time to spend together, you know? With how upset the headmistress was to put everyone except me on academic probation, how furious her daddy must be about the probation maybe messing up her scholarship and how livid your swim coach is after I sent all of them that saucy little video of the party, I’m not really sure there’ll be enough time to spare for you guys to enjoy yourselves...” she trailed off, her grin now turning into a triumphant beam.

“Nooooo, you wouldn’t.” Cassian’s face dropped as seconds passed by without her admitting she was all talk, but this was exactly something she would do. Then her words really sunk in and images of his coach holding him under the water to kill him drained the color from his face, “God, how did Blake put up with you?” Cassian grumbled before stalking off, he needed to find out from a trustworthy source if this was truly his last day to live.

“He knew better than to fuck with me!” Lola called out after him, waving at Cass’s back and watching with evil glee as he hurried off in the opposite direction, probably to do some damage control. It was a hard lesson to learn-- not just for him, but for Mac and anyone else to dare get in the way of her goals. Yet it was a lesson that would stick with everyone else for the rest of their college careers.

They should all know better than to fuck with me.

A @TootsiePop & @Rosalia Collaboration
Featuring AJ Tyler & Valeria Drake

The walk to and in the RV was oddly silent. There was no chit-chat, no ‘hi I’m so glad to see you’, no anything. He could tell she was seething. It wasn’t that hard to tell. The heat was emitting right off her skin. After knowing someone for so long, and realizing they’re just naturally an angry person, picking up on small visual cues becomes almost second nature. If only this wasn’t the case. If only she could see the bright side of every situation. If only he could show her that no one was intentionally trying to make her feel like shit.

There was a part of AJ that had hoped his best friend gained the skill of getting over herself, but, of course, that was too much to ask for. Too much to wish into existence. While they both equally held grudges, since neither of them easily got over things, he at least was able to deal. Something she just couldn’t learn to do, or even attempt to learn. Stubborn as a mule, unyielding as a rock, and with love, like breaking waves. That was his Tink.

He couldn’t blame her for feeling some type of way. It was his fault for not necessarily preparing her. Even so, if he did that, she wouldn’t be here, right now, to give him hell. He’d consider this a win, however, the war only just begun. For one, AJ wasn’t going to let her jeopardize his road trip because she can’t play nice. He had to put up with Reyna, and now Katie, so why couldn’t she do the same? With Chloe and everyone else on her ew list.

Worst case, she could turn her attention to Leon’s abs. There was no doubt in AJ’s mind that Leon, that dopey jock motha’ fucker, would be shirtless for most of this trip. Secondly, without her, this trip wouldn’t be as phenomenal as it could be. AJ refused to take no for an answer. More importantly though, he knew she’d regret it if she said no. There was so much adventure waiting for them both. Why not do it together, with all their friends?

...And, uh, not friends.

When they entered the main room of his dad’s sanctuary, that wasn’t his mod shops, AJ went straight to the sink counter (midpoint of the RV), turned around, and leaned up against it. Taking off his sunglasses, he placed it on the counter, for safekeeping. Following Val with his eyes, he cleared his throat, “Soooooooo… what’s on your mind, Tink?” He decided to ease into the issue and play a little dumb.

Valeria raised her eyebrows at him. Had a few days apart made him stupid already, or did he honestly think she didn’t know he was just pussyfooting around the issue? "‘What's on my mind?’" the young woman repeated slowly, staring at AJ in disbelief. "‘What's on my mind’? Are you seriously fucking asking me that right now?! ‘What’s on my fucking mind’, AJ Tyler?! Gee, I don’t know! What the fuck do you think?!”

Damn. At first, her voice was at a reasonable level, like a normal goddamn mature conversation level, yet it didn’t take long for her to raise the octave, to turn red with anger, and to completely lose her shit. There was no chill at all in that tiny body of her’s. Unfazed by her yelling, he countered, while staying put in his laxed stance, Yeah. What’s on your mind?” He didn’t stutter, did he? He knew exactly what stick was up her ass, but this was her opportunity to let out some steam and say exactly what she needed to say. For once. “No: ‘hi, AJ! I’ve missed you!’ No hugs. No nothing. Obviously you need to talk, so talk.”

Val couldn’t help but scoff and roll her eyes. “You really expect me to be all sugar on you after the little stunt you just pulled?!” she asked in outrage, her small hands balling into tight fists now.

“Oh my fucking god. Can you say it?! Tell me what I did! The stunt!” He wanted to hear it from her lips before he argued his point. If she was going to have a titty attack because he was inviting their whole crew not just her favorites then he wanted her to admit it. Admit that she hates literally every girl ever!

“Chloe?! Ava?! Reyna?! Katie?!” Val cried out each name with fury and displeasure. How could AJ think for a single second that she’d be okay with this?! Chloe would be a reminder of how everything she wasn’t. Ava would try to fish around for details about her life that, frankly, she didn’t feel like sharing with judgemental strangers. Reyna was the vivid representation of how, even if you gave your 100%, the guy would always choose the pretty, preppy popular girl. And Katie… Katie was just someone she didn’t want to see or be around.

“Woah, woah, woah. I thought that was your doing! Inviting Katie in spite of me. Sounds like something you would do. And you know exactly why—” No longer leaning on the counter, AJ hovered over her as she stared up at him. With hellfire in her eyes. Before he could explain the most LOGICAL reason he invited the rest, which for some reason she chose to be dumb to, to ignore, to not even consider everyone else’s happiness but her own, the voices of Emilia and Josie could be heard outside the RV.

Inviting Katie as a way of getting back at AJ was definitely something Valeria would do... You know, if she had actually known that the other girls would be showing up. Which, you know, he had purposely omitted from her, like a backstabbing bitch. So- “Why the fuck would I invite Kati- !”

She suddenly stopped speaking as a familiar, overly cheerful voice that she absolutely despised slowly drifted in their direction from the outside. The short girl’s eyes widened and, if even possible, blazed with a bigger anger than before. “You invited Crybaby too?! Are you out of your fucking mind?!” Either this was some sick prank on his end, or he was working his hardest to make sure she was convicted of assault before they’d even left the parking lot. Emilia Seger? Really?

Holy fuck. She was being so, being so… Val. So irrational because she didn’t know how to just deal like him. Before speaking he put his hands together, placed them against his lips, inhaled, exhaled, before bringing his hands down and replying, “Let’s take a seat, please.” He could make this ten times worse, but he was trying to start things off on a good note. Was that so hard to ask for?!

Valeria vigorously shook her head. “I’m not taking a fucking seat,” she spat. “So spit it out.”

“Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. I couldn’t tell you, and you know exactly why I couldn’t.” Because of this but instead of her yelling at him, she’d stay at home and hate him for choosing others over her and herself for not going.

“So what: you’d rather get my hopes up spewing out bullshit about some unforgettable road trip, lie to me about who you invited, and pretend that I’m just going to happily go along with it like some fucking Disney movie?!” she shouted back.

“No, and I didn’t lie! I withheld information. You could fucking try because this road trip isn’t about you and it isn’t about me. This is possibly the last time we will all hang like this for a long time. Some people wouldn’t even come if I didn’t invite everyone. And can’t you just, I don’t know, be here. With me. With Chris. With Nate. With shirtless Leon. With all of us, without focusing on the ones you hate for Christ’s sake. AJ wanted to throw in the towel, but he knew if Val didn’t first, he would cancel this trip entirely and that would be lame because everyone was already here. Rather than stand there and wait for her to reply, he sidestepped away and went to sit down, pressing on his temples when he did so.

“Because those people aren’t my friends!” the brunette cried out, stomping her foot on the ground and blinking back the rush of angry tears threatening to spill down her cheeks. “You, Sami, Chris, Nate, Leon, Ivy- you’re all my friends. But the rest of them?! Not a chance in hell!”

She took a deep breath, trying hard to keep her voice from shaking but failing to do so. “What’s the point of being stuck for weeks with people you’ve fucking hated for years now, hmm? Where’s the fun in that, exactly? Because, frankly, I don’t see it, and I’m not going to be part of something that doesn’t make me happy!” she declared, turning on her heel and storming down the stairs of the RV’s exit.

Impulsive reaction, AJ got up, since she was speed walking with her tiny feet and already at the door, and took wide steps to reach her. Instead of grabbing her wrist, he saw her try to open the door, and instantly slammed his hand against it, above her head, to shut it close. Hulking over her now, after an unsettling moment of dead silence, he arrogantly pleaded, “For once, can you do something for ME instead of this? Or is it really that hard for you to put your selfishness aside?” Damn. He shouldn’t have said that last part.

The short girl’s reaction was instantaneous. Without warning, Val raised her leg and kneed him hard between the legs. She watched with equal parts of regret and satisfaction as AJ, now momentarily incapacitated, shifted his attention from blocking her exit to dealing with his pain, and took the chance to escape. The young woman quickly unlocked the RV door, flung it open and rushed right out, past the group in the parking lot without so much as a second glance and in the direction of the school’s gates. Screw the trip, screw her things, screw everything. She’d call her brother to drag her away from this fresh hell.

Seconds later, trying to work through the pain but honestly feeling like he was going to pass out, AJ took a step down, only to miss the last step and fall on the ground. This was a fucking great start. Muttering, and completely out of breath, he signaled anyone who was watching to do something, Stop. Her. With those last words, he just laid on the ground, waiting for the pain to go away.

During the time leading up to the dance, Jasper had spent most of his days texting Ariana to set up plans for the Valentine's day dance. Well, some of the texts and pictures had nothing to do with the dance- but no one but them needed to know that. Arriving at Ariana's house at half past five, Jasper figured that the hour and a half between now and the start of the dance would give them enough time to have dinner and whatnot. Plus he needed to add a few extra minutes in there for Ariana to finish getting ready.

Knocking on the door to her house, Jasper straightened the collar of his jacket as he waited for someone to answer.

It didn’t take long for the beaming, glammed-up Ariana to answer the door. With a long-sleeved, off the shoulder white minidress that emphasized the curves of her slim figure, paired with her favorite sparkly gold red-bottom heels and gold accessories, the young woman was ready to take on the night. “Hey!” she greeted Jasper with her usual kittenish smile, her brown waves bouncing as she turned to lock the front door. She’d been ready to walk off to his car when she suddenly stopped in her tracks and stared in awe at Jasper. “Holy shit, you look amazing.”

It was true. During her high school career, Ariana had been too wrapped up around under, in front of, or on top of jocks, cheerleaders and overall popular crowd members to ever give someone like Jasper a second glance. Although, in her defense, he prefered to go by unnoticed anyway. Sure, they’d exchanged words here and there before because of Chrissy, but that was the end of it. But now, standing on her doorstep with that neatly groomed hair, that immaculate suit, that coy smile and those ice blue eyes, the young woman wondered if she had been missing out on potential opportunities just because she’d refused to step outside of her shallow bubble.

Laughing at her comment, Jasper couldn’t help his normal smirk turn into an actual smile. He had spent most of his time dedicated to blending into the background. Seeing someone take the time to notice the effort he put in on special occasions like these was nice. "Thanks. You too.” Realizing how dismissive that sounded, he tried to make up for it. "I mean, you always do, but like… wow.”

Offering his arm for her to hold, Jasper waited until Ariana grabbed on before walking towards his car. "So a little bird tells me that French is your favorite kinda food? I was thinking we could grab a bite to eat before the dance if you wanted to. That or we could save it for after. It’s up to you.”

"Really? And is that little bird called Chrissie, by any chance?" the girl joked, unhooking her arm from his and choosing to stand with her back against the passenger seat of the car. "Whoever they are, they're very right. And I say we have ourselves that dinner now. I'm starving right now… And I kinda have something else in mind for after the dance..." she teased, grabbing the front of his suit jacket and gently pulling his body close to hers, pinning her against the car. "But before we go anywhere, I’m hurt. You didn't say hi to me properly," Ariana playfully pouted.

It was painfully clear that Jasper Fray was going to have his hands more than full tonight. Getting used to having someone in a kinda-sorta-not-really relationship was different for him. But if there was one thing that he could count on with Ariana, it was her knowing what she wanted and when. That tended to be one of the things that he appreciated most about the whole ordeal.

Rather than trying to respond and fumbling over his words, Jasper settled for an I’m sorry I didn’t do this to begin with/please forgive me kiss. Not stopping until they had to come back up for air, the young man opened the door for his date, a light smirk on his face.

“Was that acceptable?” he asked teasingly.

“I guess…” Ariana replied with a small shrug and roll of the eyes, making sure to grin at the end so Jasper could know she was joking. After wrapping him up in a brief hug, she turned her attention to what her stomach had been trying to tell her for the last hour and a half. “Can we go now? I’m so, so hungry.”

Returning her hug, Jasper smiled down at her as she entered the car. ”Of course,” he responded, closing the door for her. Once they were both settled, Jasper set the GPS for the restaurant that Chrissie had recommended. He had no idea where it was. Hell, he didn’t even know what counted as French food. Nonetheless, he was determined to make this night a good one.

After they arrived at their destination, Jasper continued to act like a gentleman. Opening the doors, pulling out her chair - all of the 1950’s cliche shit that he was low-key scared would eventually get on her nerves. His fears seemed to be unfounded, though, since his date seemed to be thoroughly enjoying his attention. He actually managed to pull off dinner - much to his surprise. Since French food was Ariana’s thing, and he had no idea what to order, he let her do the ordering. They shared more than a few laughs, and the food was amazing. Ariana was a gem. All in all, the night was getting off to a good start.

After he paid the bill, and they gathered the leftovers, the pair made their way to the Country Club.

“I didn’t think we’d be this early…” Ariana mused, unbuckling her seat belt but shifting in her seat to face Jasper instead, making no motions to exit the vehicle. She was surprised to see that they were one of the first few students to arrive. “There is no way that I’m going to be early to this thing. I don’t care how long we have to sit here, but Ariana Mossos is always fashionably late. Can’t really make a grand entrance if there’s no people to see it in the first place.”

And here Jasper was always trying to be punctual. Chrissie could have given him a heads up on that! But no. Now here he was, sitting in the parking lot, looking like a fucking idiot.

”Ah shit…. I could maybe drive around a bit? That way we don’t have to just sit here or whatever?”

Ariana held up her hand to silence Jasper, her brow furrowed as she thought about what they could possibly do to pass the time that didn’t involve physical contact between them (there would be plenty of time for that later). It didn’t take long for the answer to strike her like lightning, and she turned to her date with a mischievous grin. “How about we play Two Truths and a Lie? We can kill some time, get to know each other and have fun with it at the same time.”

Shrugging his shoulders, Jasper turned to set cross legged in the seat to where he was facing her. ”Okay cool. I’ll go first.” After taking a moment to think, Jasper was finally ready to share. “I was born in Seattle, I’m a virgin, and I hate history class.”

“Oh that’s easy,” the brunette snorted. Definitely lying about the virgin thing. You’re a hell of a kisser with a nice face and an even nicer package. There is no way you haven’t shared your gift with the world.”

Jasper laughed, his face turning a light shade of pink as he did so. “Nah… that’s uh…” he cleared his throat, his mouth suddenly dry. “That’s one of the truths.”

There was a moment of silence in which Ariana just stared at Jasper with wide eyes and a gaping mouth. But when she finally regained her composure, the young woman squealed and clapped her hands in delight. Oh my God!” she shrieked excitedly. “You’re a virgin?! Really?!”

Why are you clapping? he thought. Jasper had never told anyone about him being a virgin for fear of them laughing. Instead, Ariana was acting…. Excited? To say Jasper was a little confused would be an understatement.

”Virgin Mary. Except…. Gothy. And…. male. So yeah.” Slightly embarrassed, what he said next came out almost too quickly to be understood. ”I mean, I’ve kissed, obviously. Seen boobs and all that. Oral. But never actually…. Stuck the landing.”

Oh my God!” was all Ariana could say again, very much looking like a child who had gotten everything they’d asked for waiting for them under the tree on Christmas day. This was a surprising revelation, but a welcome one nonetheless. It was a clean slate- with no preconceived expectations and no other competition for that #1 lay spot. She could not only set the standards for his future partners, but she could teach him everything!

Although… Shit.

“Oh my God, have I been coming on too strong for you?” she asked him, her demeanor going from excitement to concern in record time. She might have a reputation for going hard after who she wanted, but the last thing the girl wanted was to make Jasper feel uncomfortable with her advances. She’d never be able to forgive herself if she was too pushy, or (even worse) that he felt pressured or forced to do anything he didn’t want to.

With a visibly confused face, all that Jasper could muster was ”What?” It took him just a moment to realize what she was really asking, his eyes getting wide as it hit him. Oh God, Ariana, no! No. I-i promise. You’ve been great. I mean…. I find the whole knowing what you want thing to be really great. If I do anything wrong, you let me know. It’s nice, in a way, and I appreciate it. You haven’t made me uncomfortable in any way. Swear it.”

His date seemed satisfied with his answer, because her initial excitement was back as she nodded eagerly. Taking a deep breath, Jasper was ready to change the subject. The conversation that they were having wasn’t in any way bad - he just hadn’t been able to not be red faced during the whole thing.

”So what about you? Your two truths and a lie.”

Ariana’s selections came easily to her. “Let's see… I've fucked Sonny Drake, I've fucked Warren Diedrikson, and I've fucked a teacher of King’s.”

That threw Jasper for a loop. She said everything with such confidence and pride that it was hard to tell which one might be the lie. Taking a moment to think, Jasper finally decided on his decision.

“I’m going to go with the teacher thing. I know you have a reputation, and that doesn’t bother me - but I think you’re too smart to sleep with a teacher, Ariana.”

As much as she tried to keep a straight face, Ariana ended up blushing hard and grimacing. “Then I guess I’m not as smart as you think I am…” she said awkwardly, shrugging and biting her lip. “That’s one of the truths.”

He sighed, clearly defeated. “No. You’re still just as smart as I think you are. But you’re also human, and humans make mistakes. Unless you… don’t think it was a mistake. Whichever.”

Trying to think quickly of something to turn the conversation for the better, Jasper spotted a familiar face standing outside the entrance to the Country Club. “Say….. Was that teacher Mr. Russo, by chance? He’s staring at us. Mainly you. But either way, he doesn’t look happy.”

Frowning, Ariana turned to look in the same direction Jasper was, and rolled her eyes when she saw her beloved torment glaring daggers at them. “These days he’s acting like he realized a chocolate chip cookie he’d taken a bite of was actually a raisin one… she grumbled, looking back at her date.

“Italian,” Jasper nodded approvingly. “Nice.”

Ariana snorted. “Or at least it used to be nice. He’s been acting like this ever since we had a big fight over if we were serious or not. That was like five weeks ago, and he still can’t get over it.” Not that she’d been keeping count, of course.

Listening to what Ariana had to say Jasper came to the conclusion that Ariana might just still have feelings for their Math teacher. “Well… were you guys? Serious, I mean.”

No,” she said simply, rolling her eyes again. “And he knew that. I made it perfectly clear from the start that whatever we did was casual only, and he agreed to that. But suddenly it’s a problem that he caught me making out with Max Wallenberg on the first day of school? Give me a break…” the brunette trailed off, still visibly peeved about the whole thing.

“Fuck him then,” Jasper said, shrugging his shoulders. But when he noticed the suggestive look Ariana was giving him, he added, “Not literally but -- you know what the hell I mean.” Thinking for a moment, Jasper realized that he didn’t guess her lie, which meant that there was still a thing or two to be learned about Ariana. Turning to her again, he asked “Which one is your lie?”

Although she’d been the one to put herself in this predicament in the first place, it didn’t prevent the young woman’s tanned cheeks to turn slightly pink. “That I fucked Warren Diedrikson,” she sheepishly admitted, tucking a wave behind her ear. “We never went any further than just a few heavy makeout sessions. The truth is that I actually lost it to Sonny the first semester of sophomore year.”

Blinking a few times to let that settle in, Jasper laughed lightly. “Well, that shit eating grin can get to you huh?”

The brunette couldn’t help but laugh brightly. “You could say that…” she told Jasper, as a melancholic expression softened her facial features. “We were both young and dumb and had a lot of alone time on our hands. So we just kept taking things further and further every time until it just… happened,” she explained. “I know he’s not exactly the type I would go for, but he’s actually a really sweet guy. And honestly? I don’t regret any of it. He was a wonderful first. Just… Don’t tell anyone else, ‘kay? I don’t want to start any drama when things are going so well for the both of us.”

It was easy to tell how sincere that Ariana was being. Jasper wasn’t one to judge, and he damn sure wasn’t going to start now. Nodding his head in understanding, he gave her a small encouraging smile. “Don’t worry. All of your secrets are safe with me.”

And Ariana knew in her heart that Jasper really meant it.

The second Theo’s fist made contact with Cassian, Lola winced. It should’ve been a crime to put so much as a dent in that perfect face- and if it would’ve been her the one to get punched, she’d most definitely be filing charges against whoever it was. Yet she should’ve known better than to think Cass wouldn’t put his own combat skills to action. The red-head’s next punch barely grazed Cass’ cheek, and the Asian male went right into defense mode with a punch to Theo’s jaw, a maneuver to unlock himself from his straddle, and a kick to the chest that had Lola smirking to herself.

But it seemed Cassian wasn’t done with Theo just yet, because he took advantage of his opponent’s crippled state to deliver some verbal blows that were most likely far more hurtful than any physical action he could’ve taken. It was something both he and Lola had in common. They knew their words caused more damage than blows, and they weren't afraid to use them to their advantage as the ultimate means to an end. The first few sentences were said in a tone of voice far too low for the blonde to hear, but his next phrases rang as clear as church bells announcing the beginning of mass, and they made Lola snort and shake her head. As cringe-worthy as those dialogue lines had been, there was no denying that smug bastard really knew how to put on a show.

Lola’s judgement, however, was short-lived. In the blink of an eye, the man was back on his feet and stalking away. If it wasn’t for her quick reaction in racing after him, she would’ve lost him to the crowd in no time. Thankfully, she was fast enough to catch up.

“Seriously, Cass? ‘I’ll make sure to let you know how she sounds under me’? ‘Find me later when you want to play with a big boy’? Seriously?” Lola sneered loudly as she chased him, scoffing and rolling her eyes at how utterly ridiculous his statement had sounded… Almost as if he believed what he was saying to be something he wanted to go through. “God, that has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard you say- and I’ve heard you say plenty of dumb things throughout the years. Clearly that tackle had you hitting your big head against the ground pretty hard, because only brain trauma would have you actually thinking that tomboy girl is even remotely attractive in any way, shape or form.”
