FEAR of an RP dying is merely a self-fulling prophecy. Believing it will be the best Role Play ever in the history of role playing and putting all of your creative juices into it will help to make it just that. If it is an idea you truly enjoy, put all of you into it.

I do wish that if I just believed hard enough, I could stop instances where GMs disappear after everyone has submitted their sheets, yes.

Alas.
Congrats on the laptop!

As for what Caw will do, he'll likely just gawk at the sight, trying to commit it to memory - and listen for any unique sounds there might be, such as wind rustling the leaves or the sound of ripe fruit falling. Speaking of, he might also go and reach for some of those fruit. Especially the ones he doesn't recognize, since he's curious. Might try a check of some sort to see how many he recognizes? He might have read about some of them in the wizard's study.

Yeah, I admit my profile writing was halted since there was silence and I was afraid this'd died. Just recently I made quite a long sheet only to see the rp it was for die before it even began, so I wasn't eager to have it happen again.

But since this is kicking, I'll definitely go ahead and finish that sheet! Won't be able to write tomorrow, but should have it later this week.
Posted! Duncan still thinks it's all a prank-- but I have a feeling he'll get a rude awakening soon enough, heh.

The closer Duncan got to the distant dot of light, the clearer its origin became. From a few steps away, he could make out the specifics; a light switch, turned off - the likely culprit behind the darkness. Relief washed over the athlete as he continued forward, sudden confidence in his steps.

That confidence was quick to falter. He hadn't quite reached the switch when something stole his attention. From somewhere within the darkness he'd left behind came a sudden voice, stuttering out the exact question quickly bubbling up in Duncan's mind: Is someone there?

For a second, Duncan froze; feet and mind and all. He only knew his heart hadn't stopped then and there in tandem with the rest of him because he could hear it drum up a vehement beat in his ears. He was overtaken by the kind of cold dread one felt when they realized they'd forgotten their keys or lost their phone - just amped up to eleven.

And then, just as quickly, his mind caught up and the feeling passed.

Duncan sighed, running a hand through his hair to try and drive away the post-jumpscare shakes. Right, so he wasn't alone; there was a girl in the room with him. So that's the kinda game his friends were playing, huh. A literal 'blind' date. Very funny.

He turned around to face in her general direction - not that it made any matter. "Yeah. Name's Duncan."

A shake of his head; another gesture that was entirely lost to the darkness. "Sorry 'bout this. Don't really know where we are but-- look, it's cool, I'm not a creep. This is prolly just Justin's shitty prank. Dude loves setting me up."

Guess Matthew was off the hook, then. But man, they could've at least told her about this beforehand. She'd sounded scared as hell. That was pretty fucked up, even from Justin.

"Oh-- yeah, want some light?" he suddenly remembered, trying to entertain a grin and a chuckle to lighten the mood. "Getting kinda sick of the dark, personally. Gimme a sec."

He took the last few steps needed to reach the switch and, without missing a beat, slapped it to the on-position.
I might have to back out of this one, but I wish you the best of luck!
Ok, I'll go with that. I'll just say he hadn't yet reached the switch when he heard her, so it'll make sense for him to not jump for it.

I won't be able to post until Saturday (got a whole day work event tomorrow), but I'll be around more on the weekend. Sorry for the delay!
Hmm, for my next post-- should I end it with Duncan turning on the lights, or ask for a description of what he will see when flicking the switch in advance? Then I could incorporate him doing that and his reaction in my next post already.

I'm mostly asking because I think logically he would turn the switch on before/while replying to Pebs, so if I should end my post with that, I need to keep it pretty short.
I hope so!
Definitely interested!
