I trust a Chaotic Evil Bugbear more than a Lawful Evil Yuan-ti. Brut will tell you to your face he's gonna rip off my face.

Luckily Sshizna's striking lack of charisma means she is pretty likely to also tell you if she wants to rip off your face, or at least let it slip by accident.

(Or you might notice her approaching with a disturbingly sharp object and deduce as much).

Also fun fact: I don't yet remember everyone's classes without looking it up, I just immediately went "BARD!" once Gabriel started talking, so I figured she might figure out as much too :D

The first voice to answer her call was feminine and cautious, asking for her name of all things, without even providing her own in turn. Sshizna clicked her tongue. "Do you not know the rulesss, ssstranger, or are you merely playing the fool? You are not welcome to my true name, but may call me Ssshizna."

No sooner had she answered than another creature piped up, this one clearly enjoying his voice more than she β€” or, likely, anyone else in the multiverse β€” did. Of all the cretins she had to rely on for rescue, why did one of them have to be a bard?! By Sseth's scales, if she wasn't so desperateβ€”

"I ssshould think the circumssstancesss of my capture β€” and my birth, for that matter β€” highly irrelevant to the sssubject at hand. Besssidesss, you are many, I am but one." She did not know how many people had gathered beyond the door in truth, having only heard two voices. However, she had also noticed the bard refer to someone being optimistic and trusting, and that certainly wasn't the woman who'd addressed her first. For all she knew, they could've had an entire adventuring party poised to strike the second she stepped out. If anyone ought to have been suspicious, it was her.

Sshizna crossed her arms, a guarded motion, even if only visible to her. Had she been able to see who she was addressing, she would've turned her gaze to the woman who spoke to her first β€” as things were, she simply stared at a different part of the wall. "But if it isss reasssurance you ssseek, I believe the Rule of Reciprocity ought to sssuffice, yesss? Offer me the gift of your aid, and you will not go unrewarded, of that you can be sssure."

How laughable it all was, that she would be saved by such a foolish, sentimental rule.

The vision shown to her was brief, yet alarmingly clear in what it conveyed; an inevitable conflict between a dragon and a troll. Her immediate assumption was that Garrock’s attitude had caused a [misunderstanding with Runa’s brother, but really, the dragon could have just as well been Rudrick, or even someone fully unknown to her. Same went for the troll. With the vision over, there was no real way to infer any more details from where she was standing.

Which meantβ€”

β€œRuna! I thinkβ€” I think we should interfere. I believe that’s one of yours β€” and one of mine. We need to hurry, before things truly escalate!” With that, she snaked past her new friend, following an invisible thread that still connected her to what she’d seen.

The dark, winding tunnels looked like the esophagus of some great beast, each step taking her deeper and deeper towards its belly. The more she thought about that, about wilfully putting herself in danger, the less afraid she was, curiously enough. Perhaps her fear had reached its peak, overflowing and turning into something else entirely: anger.

Anger at herself, for losing sight of the old dragon in the first place; at dragonkind and their propensity for conflict with other beings; at Garrock in particular, for being an old, stubborn fool, and at herself, for being worse by an entire tail’s length, and most likely about to die because of it.

β€œDarkness take it all,” she cursed under her breath, and picked up the pace.

Was thinking of having Capri spot her from where he's sitting, but be intercepted by trouble himself before he could actually get to her. Just thought it'd be more fun if he knew she was here and got concerned but didn't yet get to actually talk/ask questions about it.
Sure, why not, might inspire me to actually get through Violet at last. Going for the son of a day care worker couple, concerned about the recent trend of breeding for the "perfect" PokΓ©mon for battles. Cause ain't no way releasing thousands of Litten into the wild on the regular is ethical!

Lenore's attempt at small talk was easily drowned out by all the murderous imagery rattling around in the big cat's head. Ciri had communicated with monsters telepathically before, sending her thoughts and receiving theirs in turn. But being able to actively pry into an unwilling creature's mind was a recent development, and it seemed to have opened a whole new world of thought.

Unexpected, but it made sense; it wasn't like she was always thinking in words either, especially if she wasn't actively trying to communicate with someone via her powers. Now, how much of what Ciri saw in Tony's head was just wishful thinking and how much was actual intent, she wasn't experienced enough to tell yet β€” but, really, once shit did actually hit the fan in the form of a sniper's bullet, that hardly mattered.

It was on.

Kitty, incoming, Ciri called out in Billy's head, hoping to give him at least an extra second to brace himself while she ducked away, attention already elsewhere. Amidst shooting at anyone and anything that wasn't part of her own crew, she was searching for the source of the initial shot, eyes darting from one part of the shitshow to the next, untilβ€”

No. Fucking. Way.

Shitty military cosplay, even shittier dye job. Ciri's eyes narrowed in recognition, all the frustration of her last run-in with Viper prickling at her skin. This bitch was the reason she'd come into actual physical contact with a nerd! Oh, she was gonna fuck them up for that.

She raised her gun, just as Amanda raised her voice, almost to remind Ciri she was there. Because, yeah, shit. The girl was here, wasn't she, all because she'd dragged her intoβ€”

"We need to get upstairs. If we get up there, I know we can find him…”

Ciri didn't need to ask who 'he' was. She clicked her tongue, attention split. Reluctantly, she tore her gaze from Viper long enough to scowl at Amanda. "We probably can, yeah. But, lookβ€” there's no way in hell I'm gonna let you run up there in some mad dash for revenge."

A grin split Ciri's scowl, though it didn't make her look friendly so much as conspiratorial. "Not before I get my own. I was in line first, you know. Now, help me put that bitch to sleep," she jabbed a thumb towards Viper, urgency sharpening her tone, "And then we can go hunt down your pretty little psycho. Deal?"

The slightest hint of perceived agreement would be enough to send Ciri navigating the battlefield towards Viper with It, hopefully, just ahead of her as a shield and sword alike. Ciri hated fighting in close quarters, true, but so did a bitch with a sniper rifle, probably, and last time they'd been all too quick to slither away, soβ€” there was no way she was about to let that happen again. Ciri intended to use It and the chaos of the fight around her as a cover for her advance, before she either got close enough for a clear shot, or was spotted and in need of a quick reactive melody.

She could only hope Amanda wasn't far behind.
If you can't trust a Lawful Evil snake, who can you trust, really.
Fgfhsdjf I’m very glad to hear because I adore Mikako and can’t wait for these two’s reunion either!!
Hey, just wondering whether this is still open for applications?
