Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

roleplayerguild.com/posts/5… If anyone's up for fighting some kaiju, why not try out my new RP, Godzilla: YATAGARUSU?

  • Name: Goldibanne
  • Age: Physically constructed in a manner resembling a fourteen or fifteen-year-old. Goldibanne was created two years ago.
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: "Fufufu~", "Ooooh, you wanted to see Goldibanne in color~?" Goldibanne is around five feet tall.
  • World of Origin: Original Setting
  • Personality: Goldibanne is, at first glance, something of a 'girly-girl'. She enjoys cute things, frilly dresses, and baking. She is fond of ballet. She even speaks in a rather cutesy manner, often referring to herself in the third person. In addition, she cares for her Mistress deeply. In fact, her dedication to Mirafey Ayame is impossible to sway, but the same can be said for each of Ayame's four dolls. The first sign that Goldibanne is not as sweet-natured as she appears is her rather playful attitude, which is also filled with playful teasing towards those around her. When she inclined, usually by dislike(but sometimes those she likes the most also get such treatment), her teasing becomes harsher. Goldibanne is not simply a cutesy girly-girl, she is also a sadist with a cruel streak. She holds little mercy towards anyone considered her enemy and will dispatch them without hesitation, in spite of not being the combat-focused doll. Her mercilessness also applies to her teasing attitude, as she will not hesitate to mock someone in her cutesy tone if she thinks it will be entertaining. In spite of all this, harming random, innocent people is still seen as distasteful to her, and her programming leaves her feeling disgusted by that sort of action. Goldibanne has a remarkable temper in spite of her seeming cheerful, if sadistic, attitude, and is more prone to perform crueler and more vengeful acts when truly angry.
  • History: Goldibanne was the second fully autonomous doll created by Mirafey Ayame. A weak, sickly girl, Ayame created her dolls in order to care for her mansion, using the experience of her mage bloodline and her own extensive experimentation in order to create fully sapient dolls who could act on their own. Goldibanne was created to run the mansion in an administrative sense.
  • Abilities: Goldibanne is more durable then the average human, able to withstand firm blows to her body. The mana powering her also grants her additional defense due to her natural as a supernatural being. As she is technically an animated magical tool rather then something truly alive, attacks targeting living things cannot harm her. Goldibanne is far more flexible then a human due to her lack of bones, allowing her to bend in ways impossible for a human being. The doll's combat style resembles a strange dance, much like ballet, where she spins and twists about in order to fight. Goldibanne is capable of converting her internal mana into molten gold, forcing it through the joints in her hands, and using it to create whips of molten gold. She may also do this when injured, causing her to bleed molten gold onto her enemy. Naturally, her body is resistant to heat at a high level. Goldibanne is capable of dollmaking, allowing her to repair herself when injured. Goldibanne is also an excellent baker.
  • Other: With her high level of skill, Ayame was capable of replicating complicated organic structures using dollmaking. This includes the interior of the nose and ear. Goldibanne's skin is also soft and human-like, her joints remaining for ease of repair.
@PKMNB0Y: Gold is in part due to her name(she's actually named after the Japanese Goldband Lily), and also due to gold's significance given she's technically magical tool. While Ayame's not an alchemist, lead into gold seemed like too good of a thing to tie in.

She could theoretically generate infinite gold bars, but it would probably be life-threatening for her to do so.
If there's no new introductions by tomorrow, I'll post an IC update. I'm certain it won't take us too far for people who haven't been able to post yet.

... Sorry for the double post, I just think this will be a lot more noticeable in a new post then at the bottom of a fairly long one.

Edit: Admittedly I'm kind of itching to post more, but it's only fair to wait a bit to make sure that no-one else is planning to post before my next update.

Anyway, anyone have dungeon ideas while we wait?

@SleepingSilence: If it's literally just against monsters, in context of the setting that doesn't really make much sense. How exactly would you magically differentiate between a monster and anything else? Would it work on undead even though they're technically just the bodies of other pre-existing races? However, you mentioning having a shorter duration for more powerful targets works out fine.

That wasn't explained, so I didn't know exactly what you meant. It could have just been he stays invisible as long as he wants(which honestly seems like a weird choice for a Bard).

You're still not understanding what the problem was. It was a lore thing. Not your character having to be a certain thing. The only race that can't be a mage is dwarves.

They were never accepted. You assumed they were, but they never were, because they never got back to me on the tweaks to the bio.

I'm fairly certain your standard bard IS focused on playing magic music. And again, I always said you could fight and have a weapon. For the entire time you were planning on being a bard. It's just not what you would be focused on, because everyone should at least be doing sufficiently different things in the RP. I just thought a crossbow was a bit inappropriate.

... Anyway, I'm going to try and wait until everyone's introduced themselves in the RP before making an update, though it depends on how much time that takes too. ^^; Still, I'd like for everyone to have a post up first.

I am definitely interested and I have so many characters I want to play.
@SleepingSilence: As @Rin pointed out, instant healing is only for minor injuries. I need some kind of time range for the spells because they cause an effect. If he could just freeze a boss forever, well, that fight is basically won instantly. And hey, turning invisible forever is a bit extreme, you didn't say that part had a limit. Again, it's an effect.

I didn't say the Hundi shunned magic at any point. If there's anything I should have say about hundi mages it's that they're relatively uncommon because as a race the hundi don't tend to have magical aptitude, but unlike dwarves it can happen.

Multiple weapons was purely because you switched to a bard. Who should not be a walking armory, if you want to have tons of weapons and fight a lot, that's a different class entirely. Which I said you could change to, or make up your own. And all the swordspeople fight very differently. I also asked the knight(who still worked differently from Tanya) to change some things up. I never got a response in the end.

I never said you couldn't fight. I said if you're being a bard, focus on the magical music and cut back on directly offensive stuff.
I meant that personality-wise. I figured that was obvious. Their entire culture revolves around it. So even our physically weak healer knows how to fight in melee and has their cultural honesty. I was surprised you went with a hundi who didn't really act like a hundi in any way. They can act plenty of different ways, but the cultural "proud of my ability to fight even if it's not my main focus, honorable, honest" traits are there in some way most of the time, at least.

You have to be specific about the timing on the spells that, if they just lasted forever, would break things. The healing spell does define timing.
@SleepingSilence: No, it was about cultural stuff relating to the lore of the setting, not your pick of class beyond you needing to change from thief. I just don't want you to misunderstand, hundi can totally be all kinds of things, it's just they all have at least a little combat training(health permitting) and their culture places a lot in honor and honesty.

I was wondering about Hold Monster, Mislead, and Sleep.
