Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

roleplayerguild.com/posts/5… If anyone's up for fighting some kaiju, why not try out my new RP, Godzilla: YATAGARUSU?

  • Name: Kirisame Marisa
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: A perfectly ordinary witch. Also like 4'9
  • Personality: Kirisame Marisa is a frequent liar and kleptomaniac. She'll steal anything that looks interesting or useful, provided it's not nailed down, and she'll even steal abilities from people she's met. She's also nearly always cheerful, always interested in a fight, friendly or otherwise, and an incredibly hard worker. To master the magic she has, she needed to train for a very long time. For some reason she doesn't like talking about how hard she works, but it's likely that most of her life was spent doing so. Marisa is also very proud of being the "Second best in Gensokyo" to Reimu, as well as being a good thief.
  • Species: Human
  • Ablities: Capable of flight and danmaku use, spellcards listed here. She's also a pretty fancy thief, and carries around what's known as the mini-hakkero for doing magic. Her biggest, hardest hitting spells are all variants on "Master Spark", a massive beam of magic. Danmaku is non-lethal but can damage objects, but lethal versions of some spells are possible.
  • Skills: Marisa is a pretty good thief, actually. She's quite smart as well, good at engineering spells or copying them for her own use.
  • Brief Backstory: Marisa is a proud incident-resolver of Gensokyo, and has participated in the resolution of various incidents.

  • Name: Konpaku Youmu
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: "For Yuyuko-sama, I won't fail!"
  • Personality: Calm, collected, serious. These are things Youmu tries to be at all times. To her credit, in a fight she is a dangerous and focused opponent, but outside of combat she is prone to being rather awkward. Her attempts to remain collected often fail, as Youmu is easily surprised and confused. She is not unintelligent, but it is simply quite easy to exasperate or perplex her. Youmu is easily frustrated by things that confuse her, and she is somewhat easy to mislead. However, she has been working on this, as to not fail Yuyuko. Youmu takes pride in her combat capabilities and her speed, as well as her katana, Roukanken and Hakuroken. In spite of her attempts to be a dutiful and serious warrior, Youmu retains a fear of ghost stories. In spite of being half ghost. And serving a ghost. However, when her opponent is not a ghost, Youmu can be a courageous fighter who refuses to give in. She also retains absolute loyalty to Saigyouji Yuyuko, even if the gluttonous ghost confuses and embarrasses her at times.
  • Species: Half-Phantom
  • Ablities: Youmu is somewhat more durable than a regular human being, and has a somewhat more capable healing ability, but this is nothing as extreme as most youkai. As a half-ghost, a portion of her soul is embodied as a non-sentient floating phantom referred to as Myon. This can be used to observe distant areas, fire danmaku, or even temporarily become a duplicate of Youmu for double team attacks. Youmu also feels everything Myon feels, though she cannot be damaged in this way(something painful to Myon will be painful to Youmu, though). Her strength is above human level, allowing her to wield the incredibly long Roukanken one-handed. Youmu's attacking speed allows her to slash many times in an instant, to the point where it appears as a single attack. She can also move very quickly, in both air and on land, her speed making her the second fastest person in Gensokyo. This allows her to pull off her family technique, Two-Hundred Yojana in One Slash, covering an enormous amount of distance and come back in the time it takes to unsheath Roukanken and cut with it, allowing her to cut foes even quite a distance away. She also carries spellcards and is fully capable of flight. Her most powerful technique, both in spellcard form and as a true attack, is Reflecting Satellite Slash. This attack is simultaneously the cutting of her blade and a wave of blades reflected by the light of the moon, assaulting her opponent in a flash of light as she moves to cut through them. Even in nonlethal danmaku form it is a highly dangerous attack. However, it requires Youmu to hold still and gather power to properly perform it. In spite of all her advantages, Youmu is still partially human and can be injured as a human can, and while attacks to Myon do not cause physical harm, the pain caused by them can immobilize her.
  • Skills: Youmu is an incredibly skilled swordswoman, capable of wielding her blades both one and two-handed. She is also an adept gardener.
  • Brief Backstory: Youmu was born into the Konpaku family, half-ghosts in service of the ruler of the Netherworld, Saigyouji Yuyuko. She was trained intensely in swordplay, and in how to garden in order to cultivate the gardens around Yuyuko's home. Soon enough, Youmu became Yuyuko's servant, dedicated to her service even when she was to cause an incident that nearly(unintentionally) caused the awakening of a malevolent entity in the form of a soul-eating cherry tree. Since then, Youmu has actively assisted in the resolution of several incidents.
Alrighty, planning on using Marisa, Youmu, and Wriggle!
If I see someone like that I just... try to interact with them as little as possible.

Though I kind of wish there was a better way to block people on DA after seeing... that but anyway, on to brighter subjects.

Hoping Team Cat gets picked up a bit more soon. ^^;
@easy modo: I like to ignore that person as much as possible given what one click on their profile image shows me. I do no more digging then that.

@AtomicNut: Wait how is it good for training.
@HowlsOfWinter: I'm looking forward to it!

While I've been waiting for new posts, I decided to try drawing Makiko myself.
That was my main goal with this post, really. ^^;
I still think it's a bit fast to do that. ^^;

Also given Fanilly was running to stop Alvor from killing her it'd probably hit her pretty hard.
So post made. The plot thickens... a little bit.
As the half-giant suddenly took the paladin off his feet, Alvor did not hesitate in taking an advantage of their distraction. The runes oh his armor gleaming brightly, he brought his shoulder low and charged the both of them, slamming into the half-giant girl and knocking the two apart. His strength was enormous, now, likely augmented by the rune-scrawled armor. His axe, too, gleamed with runes, and he raised it immediately in order to attack the downed giant girl, in a bid to plant the blade in her chest.

As he swung, however, Fanilly's sword went clear through his arm.

She'd seen what was happening. How the half-giant girl had flown into a rage at the paladin's reckless attack, and now they were at each other's throats... but she hadn't been sure how to stop it, not until the hulking armored man had intervened himself. But then he'd made his own attack... she'd had to stop him. And so, while he was distracted, Fanilly put her sword clear through his arm.

Alvor roared in pain and swung his arm, turning his focus immediately on the blonde girl, slapping her aside in an instant. Fanilly let out a cry of shock, pulling the blade from the Barukstaedan warrior's arm and hitting the ground once more, rolling once before trying to steady herself. Alvor's arm was now bleeding profusely, she'd pierced something important. His followup was delayed, and the small blonde managed to get to her feet far before he had managed to strike back at her. She lept back as his axe slammed into the ground, shattering stone.

The vampire stood, stunned for a few moments, as his hand hit the ground, the stump spewing blood. He almost didn't have time to react to the shield-charge of the two brothers, but moments before impact he managed to dive back, skidding to a halt now firmly behind the knights. His shocked expression had now turned into a grin, even as blood spewed from his arm. He licked his lips.

"Delicious," he commented, simply, "It's been a good many years since someone managed to injure me, let alone take off my hand."

Even as he spoke, however, his hand suddenly was dragged back by streams of blood, reattaching itself. Noticing Garret's blood on his fingers, the vampire them a lick, savoring the taste of the knight's blood.

"Do you think you can actually put me down?" he asked, cocking his head to one side, "You're mistaken, but I'd like to see your try yourselves against me. Come on, now, let's see you do your best to kill Damon Cal."

Damon raised his sword, his grin increasingly wild. If anything, losing his hand for a few moments appeared to have exhilarated him. Anyone familiar with the Cal family would know that Damon Cal had vanished around fifty years before Phoran started his rebellion. Was this why they had selected the Cal Tomb as their base of operations?
No. >:T
