Wayward's character's last name is Jett. Hope it's not too much to ask to change it. Unless you both want make it a running gag of "Did you mean Jet with two T's?!" And "You sure you guys aren't related?" I mean, if it really pains you to do so, keep the name. But damn, I will have fun with it. Whatever you decide, he's good to go.

THANK YOU for not withdrawing. Trust me, I know that feeling, that terrible thought of "God, how the hell can I work my way with all these characters?" It's intimidating, I'm not gonna lie, even I am freakin' overwhelmed by the talent that these characters already possess in just their school years! I've been in that boat, and I've capsized from sheer heart break and discouragement by just the numbers alone. I HATED that feeling. It's kind of why I semi-retired from roleplay until now. But now, I'm the one who is charged with running the story. It's my job to give you guys the scenarios to play in. To encourage you to interact--BOTH IN CHARACTER AND OUT OF CHARACTER. It's my job to carry you when you're crying about Qrow's death sc---UHH,I mean, when you have writer's block or something is going on in your life that stops you from writing. I keep my doors open, folks. Not because I like seeing the numbers--and it's an ego boost, no lie there. But because I want everyone, every fan of this awesome series to live out their RWBY fandom. Chihiro, everyone, my fellow cast members, so long as you're willing to just bear with me and work with each other, I will do my best to make this an enjoyable experience for all.

Hell, screwing up in the beginning will encourage you guys to get to know each other! Guess how I got to know Kurai? His character nearly ra*ed mine in another RP. We've been buddies since! Did I mention his ex kinda resembles Blake? And that Kurai, when he had longer hair and and a beard, he looked like WWE superstar Seth Rollins? ANYWAY, part of the experience of this roleplay is making new acquaintances and then shipping with each other.

You will NEVER...NEVER see Ozpin's weapon or semblance. Don't even try.

Kurai's character is also the second in command.

Should I ask new applicants to PM me their character sheets next time?

Question: can average hunters react to and either dodge or block accurately aimed bullets?

Hm, Ruby was able to dodge machine gun fire in episode 1. Though I'm not sure if she simply could see the bullets coming, or used her speed to simply move out of the line of fire. In the same episode, Cinder Fall blocked Ruby's bullets with one hand (perhaps with the help of her aura to remain unharmed), and considering Ruby's Crescent Rose is half-sniper rifle, I'm sure she needed a quick scope.

I wanna say no. Cinder ain't average and Ruby's adorable. OH, skill wise? Definitely those two are exceptions.

There is one thing I forgot to mention in my excitement and time off of roleplay:

This story is dark. Dark as in straying away a bit from the family-friendly nature of RWBY. That doesn't mean we can't have our own light-hearted fun. Just letting you all know that the characters you play will have a rough start to begin with. Of course, one's future isn't written. It's made. Through pain and suffering your characters obtain power to ensure peace in Remnant. What you do with that power, and how you go about safeguarding that peace is up to you.

Overview

Peace was the true hard-won victory for the world of Remnant. The Great War, the largest global conflict in history was said to have been fought over the concept of individualism, where self-expression and art were suppressed and countless lives were lost. For the Four Kingdoms, this time of peace was an era of unity through diversity. A time for mankind to share and indulge in each others cultures. And for a while, it seemed that nothing would threaten this new age of tranquility.

Self-expression and individualism, however, is not without its downsides. Though relationships within the Four Kingdoms remain in good standing, there exists pockets of resistance whose only goals are to shatter these peaceful ties. Societies that conspire to overthrow the powers that be while remaining hidden in the realm of politics; terrorists that act upon their namesake and advocate fear and hate; fallen Huntsmen who have abandoned their oaths to safeguard humanity and have become renegade mercenearies.

In response to this, a project was introduced by Hyde Crimson, a leading executive within the Schnee Dust Company. He proposed the creation of an elite team of young Huntsmen and Huntresses who would specialize in tracking and eliminating the more elusive enemies of peace. His idea, unfortunately, was negatively received by his peers, who sought only to lead the company into a more business-friendly endeavor than spending funds on a military pet project. It was then Hyde Crimson sought out desperate measures. A contact within the prestigious Beacon Academy caught word of this project, and offered Crimson his most promising students. Crimson was fully aware that these particular students were orphaned, and were more or less coerced into volunteering themselves. Even so, Crimson funded the project despite knowing the pain and suffering these students would endure to make all this possible.

By then, Ozpin was a post-graduate and fully fledged Huntsman. He valued peace and was passionate about respect for all walks of life. Thinking he could be easily manipulated, Hyde Crimson and his Beacon contact sought out his services and landed him the position of Unit Director.

"Director? Of what?" Ozpin asked as he glanced at Hyde Crimson.

The executive grinned. "You will be in charge of the world's first and finest strike force. The true patrons of peace and the heralds of a new era. This is what you always wanted, isn't it? A promise for a peaceful and bright future. Well, Mr. Ozpin, the Great War did not end without bloodshed. And the night is always darkest before the dawn." He then gave a rundown on what the project involved.

"What are you saying?" Ozpin inquired, not bothering to hide the impatience in his voice. The disregard for the students' well being was simply unforgivable.

Hyde Crimson's smile disappeared. Honesty doesn't require such a pretentious display. "This team you're leading doesn't follow your usual Color Naming rules. In fact, this team does not officially exist. It's why we're abandoning the first letter acronym nonsense. From here on out, we're calling them..."

The Shades of Black is the name for the unofficial team led by Ozpin. They are Beacon students charged with the task of keeping the peace in the world of Remnant. Armed with rare-dust and experimental Grimm DNA infused in their bodies, they are a unique counter-measure force that hunts down the most dangerous and well-hidden threats. To easily conceal the nature of the project, the students involved were orphans and were subject to rigorous training and painful experiments. This story will chronicle their events and adventures.

Semblance: (An often supernatural or superhuman ability unique to every Huntsman and Huntress)

Corruption: (Another type of semblance obtained as result of infusing the human anatomy with rare types of raw Dust and Grimm DNA. The ability itself must deform or corrupt any aspect of your character, whether it be a physical distortion of the human anatomy, e.g. glowing red and skin turning leather black, or an obvious change in mood and personality, e.g displaying psychotic and feral behavior.)

  • IC has officially begun as "Mission 00: Not a Pilot Episode"
  • The "Posting Order" idea, which limited players to posting at a set turn to prevent multiple posting in a short amount of time, has been dropped. At this time there is virtually no limit to how many times a player can post 12 hours.
  • We have considered withdrawing our "Open Door" policy, which could allow anyone to apply and get in game at anytime. Please understand that while we love sharing in our RWBY fandom, we never expected such a large turnout. We have 10+ PCs already in play. As of now, any more character submissions will be placed on wait list and will not participate in missions without GM/Co-GM approval. Wait Listed characters may post during downtime (when no missions are in play).
  • RWBY Volume 3 Episode 1 has been released.

In all my years, I have never broken my OPEN DOOR habits. Don't worry, the team is named "Shades of Black." As you can see, it does not follow the 4 letter standard of team names, because well, it's.....ah, you'll see. :D
