To The Edge of the World...

Eve was wondering what was taking them so long and went back inside. "Rockmar? Cedric? Wimena? Are you coming out? It's almost dark!" Eve was concerned more about the townspeople than their journey back to town.

She went further in towards the room that she and Tarquin had been in. She decided to see what was so interesting about that alter that he had been looking at. Once she got in there she looked around. She hadn't gotten much of a chance before with Taroyn showing up. There was a chest under the alter in the middle of the room. She looked at the alter and found it interesting. A large bear skull sat atop it.

The chest appeared to be pretty solid. As she approached it she felt some magic coming from inside of it.

Sundos took the shield from the chest. He slipped it on his arm to see how it felt. But he didn't use shields. he needed both hands to swing his great axe.

As far as Eve heard they were getting out of there, she has no idea they went back in for a chest. I'll have her investigate.

Nikki picked up her pace forcing the others to keep up. Her good mood had been replaced with one of worry. She didn't like the thought that any of them would take off alone but going to a place that was shut in like that and trying to attract more. The thought gave her the creeps and made her relive what she thought had happened to her Dad. In her mind she could see everything going well for a while but then it would change and he would be unable to get away from a hoard that would be inescapable. The picture in her mind kept flipping from her Dad to Nick. This group of kids was her dysfunctional family now and she wasn't willing to lose anyone else.

A little while later Nikki saw the first car up ahead and she stopped, looking at Moses and the others she pointed towards the first house on the right. "I started on the right side of the street at that house." She pulled the car keys out of her pocket and jingled them. "I left the boxes by the front doors in the houses I scavenged. All keys that I could find are on top. Finish up these and if you end up out overnight lock yourselves in and be safe guys. My car is already packed. I'm going to help Nick. If any of you want to go to the pen, grab a car after you fill it up. We really need the supplies and there is alot here."

1970 Dodge Charger

Nikki ran for the car and hopped in. The car roared to life. It was a 1970 Dodge Charger and it had a mean sounding V8 engine. She smiled and waved as she passed them. "Be safe guys! I'll see you at the school." Nikki hit the gas and missed the days of blasting the radio with the windows down. She played the cd in the disc player and was happy to hear Metallica coming back at her. She chuckled happily, "Old school, alright!" She noticed that the car was drawing walkers out and she was being followed. "Okay Nick, I hope you are ready for this."

Valyna accepted the second drink when Clay slid it to her. She gave him a beautiful smile that was genuine and let him know that she isn't like all the others. "Well, I'm not like the other girls. I'm looking for Mr. Right. Eventually I hope he finds me. It would be a shame to survive so long to never find him." She looked at Clay and smirked. "Are you ever wanting to settle down, eventually I mean. Not tonight."

Valyna pulled his hand over and faced it palm up. She traced his life line and asked him. "So Clay, how did you come to work here? I mean you look like Sons of Anarchy and yet you are obviously not running from anything." Her eyes sparkled and she finished her second drink and pushed the glass towards him.

"Hunter come on don't go. I want you to go with us!"

She heard Moses and turned to look at him with horror in her expression. "Nick went where? How could you let him go alone? No one could do that by himself it's a suicide mission!" She was torn between their planned mission and helping Nick. "Come on we gotta pick up the pace. After I get you to the houses I am going to take a car and go help Nick at the penitentiary."

"Hunter if you stay you can help me with Nick!" She shouted.

Eve nodded still trying to stop her coughing. "Yes, it is. I do fear we may be too late to get back to the main building in town though. It is entirely possible that they might not survive the night if that building is not reinforced or if that hound is more determined to get inside. Eve looked into her bag and pulled out a couple of apples and handed him one. "Here, we haven't eaten in a while."

She looked up as the noise inside got closer. "I think the others are about done in there, I hope. We really need to get back."

Valyna smiled at Clay's compliment and teased him a little. "So you meet a lot of pretty ladies here." She said with a smirk. "Well I haven't met any men who were both good looking and genuinely nice people in quite a long time. You appear to be the first in.....well let's just say a long time." Valyna looked down at her arm and there was nothing still. She frowned for a split second and then smiled, maybe it was a good thing that it hadn't shown up yet.
