Ranna was horrified and she really couldn't imagine a more mortifying situation. She dropped her shields and raised her arm so fast that a large energy construct hovered inches from Mabel's face ready to explode. Fighting her inner want to kill the woman on the spot she turned and let it dissolve in front of her.

Ranna looked at Kyle and with as much dignity as she could and walked slowly down the hill. She had done everything Kyle had asked and she was hidden as if he was ashamed of her. Ranna knew how she felt about Kyle but wondered about his feelings. At least it was out in the open now. She headed into the office and waited for the meeting to begin.

Piper knew that she and Kyle had an amazing connection but she was unsure how deep it went. What if he were really a spy for the vampire council or worse. She highly doubted it but she wasn't just going to spill her history like that. She wanted to trust him completely but she had to be cautious.

"I'm nobody important, just a girl who got caught in the wrong place at the wrong time twice. I grew up in the midwestern U.S. where kids rode their bikes outside and played til the streetlights came on at night. My parents still live there and I call them every now and then. They think I'm in New York and have no idea what I've become." Her expression became one of pain as she said, "my brother and I got into a fight and I had already been made a werewolf. I bit him in a fit of rage and he survived the turning and now he is a werewolf, roaming the earth as I do. I worry about him."

She smiled slightly. "So what don't I know about you Grant Holiday?"

Ranna sighed and said "Alexis I'm sure a lot of people know about it. It wasn't a secret and you know how gossip spreads." She purposely looked at Kyle for a second. For some reason she suspected that Tokala knew quite a bit more than she wanted him to by the look he gave her.

"It's not surprising that others want nothing to do with us now. Hunter's reputation precedes him and why should they get their tribe involved in something that is potentially fatal to all of them. There is nothing to gain for them and everything to risk. I'll put put my shield down when I am positive you aren't going to hurt her. You tend to be a little aggressive."

She turned to Mabel. "So, why have you come Mabel. We do need a doctor as our other one just vanished one day."

Ranna woke up alone. She sighed and got to her feet. She walked outside to see Kyle and some of the others up the hill. She walked up to see what was going on. Ranna walked up in time to hear Alexandra's anger at this new woman that Ranna did not know. Ranna put up an invisible shield protecting Mabel. She didn't know who she was yet but she knew Alexandra's temper. Ranna tried not to laugh at Kyle's expression and outburst.

Ranna smiled and waved at the new woman. "Hi I'm Ranna, Kyle's ....uh, head farmer." Ranna felt the other's eyes on her and she just kept smiling. Ranna looked at Alexandra and asked her, "What's wrong Alexis? Why do you look so angry with, ...um..." She turned to Mabel. "I'm sorry what is your name?" Once she had a name she finished her sentence. "Why are you angry with Mabel?"

"The Blood Compact was a treaty between vamps, weres and humans not to spill blood of the other two species. It included feeding on people for blood and all the assumed restrictions. Apparently it is being said that vampires bombed humans. My question to this is why? Vamps could do just as much harm and feed too so I am not sure how this is going to be fixed or if it can be at this point. It's getting out of hand already."

Piper got up and peaked out the window curtains ever so slightly Making sure that there was no light entering the room. Nora had done well. There were windows made of tinted glass underneath the heavy curtains. There was so little light that would come through but yet the person could be seen from the other side during the day. Piper closed the curtain and climbed back into the bed with Grant and lay her head on the pillow.

Piper was exhilarated and exhausted. She had given in to her instincts and it had felt wonderful to her. Grant had apparently been new to the experience although after the first few moment you wouldn't have known it. It was her first time with a vampire. Grant seemed to have had limitless energy and they had been in the bedroom most of the night. She knew he had to rest soon. She rolled over and ducked under his arm and lay her head on his arm and cuddled up with him.

Her mind wandered to the current problem across the planet. Reports were coming in that fear was causing murders on all three species all over. No one was safe and that worried Piper. When all fear each other no one can live safely. They really needed to learn to live together or fix the compact or something. She hadn't heard much from the others that she knew. Most of them had gone underground as soon as it broke.

Piper smiled when Grant went to reach for his book and realized that she still had it, so she reached over and grabbed it from the nightstand and handed it back to him. "Here you go. Write, I know it's driving you mad." She chuckled.

Nikki came to in a fog of pain. All she could hear was Haru screaming at her to hold on. Somebody vomiting nearby and that made her nauseated. Raven was there and Nikki saw her slap Vincent. Maybe she was dreaming...this was not so far fetched from some of the other nightmares that she had had in the past.

"Kyle..." Nikki called out in a fog. She coughed and she felt like her entire lower half was coming off. She screamed and the cramps slowed down. Nikki realized she was slick with sweat and that's why she felt dehydrated. "Raven.... Raven help me get to a bed and clean up." She tried to get up on her own but she was weak and no one there was about to let her get up. Nikki was so worried over the baby she didn't even complain about Vincent carrying her to the bed. She was just too weak.
