My therapist mentioned referring me to a psychiatrist for anxiety medication, then at the next appt. said it wasn't a good idea as it doesn't the issue. I would've loved the temporary relief though...

Started calisthenics today; not to lose weight, but to get toned and get a little stronger. It's a 5x/week type deal ChatGPT drew out for me, but my snap, crackle, pop knees sure do love to complain..

I don't mean in a literal sense, but it's the idea that the guy is "taller, stronger" etc.

I mean, that's why women with curves are deemed as more attractive. Wider hips = more likely to be able to have kids. It's pretty much the caveman/woman in us talking.

It's more so the whole protective thing as well. I'm extremely short so in order to compensate, I'd look for tall guys. I mean, I would date guys of average height, but I believe that's somewhere up in 5'9 for men. I definitely wouldn't date short guys though. I mean, who would help me get stuff up in the last shelf?
Genevieve Marceaux - Strip Mall

"That should be good for now..." Genevieve said, walking past Gaia. In all honesty, she wasn't too concerned with the unconscious body. She wasn't the instigator and she was just defending herself, and beyond that, it might as well be a matter of "he said, she said."

For a split second, the thought of waking up her attacker to confront her crossed Genevieve's mind. Suck up enough damage to get a conscious response, but not too much as to weaken herself, and then question her. But even though the curiosity was eating at her, Genevieve knew without a doubt that such move was a stupid one.

"On it!"

She grabbed the map, slipped it in one of the inside pockets of her jacket, and then briskly made her way to her bike. After putting on her helmet, Genevieve started up her bike and waited for Judah.

I was crushing on someone I met in school for years, and I mean literally years. He was about 5'7, but he was the smartest person I've ever met, and I'm not talking about academics. He always had an answer for everything, and a damn good one. We were friends but we never dated, even though I would occasionally ask him (and he claims he asked me once).

We lost contact for a while then my defenses and expectations went up. If others had them, so should I.

Haven't looked back since.

Great post, btw. I agree with the author in that it's fine both women and men have their expectations, as well as take the advice that they should venture outside of their little perfection bubble.
@mdk

I mean, the internet wasn't nowhere near terrible prior to 2015, but Paid did lie during that interview. I'm scared the situation might get worse from everything I've seen circulating around the net, and in today's world, it's very plausible.
I think this is one of those times where people should hit the pause button on their political alignment.
If they do away with net neutrality, then I'm moving to Canada, or any other English-speaking country. I mean, this is insane...

[End of drunk rant]
The soft knock on her bedroom door prompted Denise to shake off whatever amount of dread had crept up on her. She pushed the phone aside as she attempted to get the intrusive images out of her head. Images of what would happen to her if Max followed through with his threats. Images of what she would look like being left for dead on a ditch somewhere in town. All very real possibilities, and all just as equally terrifying.

"Just a minute!" Denise finally called out, grabbing one of her snacks as she got up. Like Faye had mentioned, her cigarettes were indeed by the door. She picked up the small pack before opening the door, coming face to face with her roommate. "Looking for these?"

With a smile, Denise quickly tossed the pack of cigarettes over to Faye. She leaned against the doorway, opening the bag of corn nuts before she started snacking on them. "I'm fine, just had a bit of a rough night. You know how it is, right?"

Denise was actually surprised her roommate had shown some concern for her. She obviously wasn't okay, not with Max's words lingering somewhere in the back of her head, but she wasn't about to get into that mess. Denise was never one to share her misfortune with others, and tonight wasn't an exception.

"I know I went straight for my room, but the outside world has that effect on me sometimes..."
