Current Attn teeny boppers: You realize adbots aren't ppl, yes? They randomly generate login info, then execute pre-programmed posts. Your rage-spam goes unheard by the machine. And is equally annoying.

If you're going by UK conventions of knighthood/nobility, yes. It also would be pronounced like the "dam" in "madame," rather than like a Dick Tracy "daym."

So since there's a distinction between Magestrava, Sepcarim, and regular people, does that mean that magic ability is something one is born with, or can pretty much anyone do it if they learn and practice enough?
Just let me know if anything needs to be changed, here's the first draft of my character.

Appearance: Standing at 5'10" but with broad shoulders and still-growing muscle, Seiji's a young man right in the middle of his growing phase. His black hair is cut short and parted in the front, slight bangs framing his face. His eyes are a gray-blue hue that reminds one of polished steel. He wears a long sleeved black shirt under the traditional short sleeved white jacket of the Marines, which is left unbuttoned at the front and the blue neckerchief is instead tied around his right bicep. His Marine cap is turned backwards on his head most of the time, unless he needs to block something from getting in his eyes. Instead of full length pants he wears shorts hemmed slightly below the knee, and his black boots are only half-shin high. At first glance, a seemingly undisciplined recruit--but his personality and actions leave no doubt as to his passion.

Name: Seiji Shirogane

Gender: Male

Nicknames/Aliases: Not earned yet.

Epithet: N/A

Age: 16

Hometown: South Blue, Karate Island

Marine Rank: Seaman First Class

Role: Junior Officer - After completing basic training and a few simple assignments, low ranked Marines would of course need to learn from a real crew. Thus, Seiji has been assigned to his current crew with the intent of continuing his training and putting him to work in the field.

Abilities & Skills:
Fighting Style - Seiji's fighting style incorporates basic Marine-style martial arts, a few tidbits of other styles taught on his home island, and a brawling disposition. He is best described as an "in-fighter," closing his distance with an opponent before planting his feet and slugging it out.

Rokushiki - A style of martial arts consisting of superhuman training and techniques, normally taught only to CP9 or higher ranking Marines. Seiji learned a small amount of it from his grandfather, but currently is only capable of performing one of the six techniques.
1) Tekkai: Hardens the users' muscles to the level of iron, in order to nullify damage taken from attacks. However, it can be broken by strong enough forces. It can also be used to increase the power of an attack, but because it makes the user incapable of moving, they have to use Tekkai after they have already begun their movement, thus fully commiting to that action.

Equipment: None

Personality: Seiji is devoted to the idea of being "a true Hero," and thus seeks to do good to the best of his ability. He tries to be nice even to people he doesn't like, but has little mercy for those he sees as "true Evil." However, to be considered truly evil in Seiji's eyes is a rare thing. He is still young and naive about the ways of the world, and believes that people can change if given the chance. He is also a stickler for "the Law," and seeks to punish anyone who breaks it with a fair and equal sentence. But the surest way to invoke his rage is to have him catch you breaking the law red-handed. At that point, no court, trial, or jury is necessary; Seiji will become "Justice" himself.

While not fond of the idea of hurting people for no reason, Seiji is also eager to test himself and improve his skills, and thus he is fond of fighting and other physical tests of strength and ability. He is also a hard worker, eagerly training on his own and jumping to almost any task given by a superior.

Biography: Seiji's grandfather, Gintarou Shirogane, was once a Vice Admiral of the Marines known as the "Platinum Fist." Said to embody the true essence of what it meant to be a Marine, he defeated and captured not only pirates, but all sorts of criminals, and the sea routes his ship patrolled were known as safe waters even in the vicious territories of the Grand Line. However, when his own son (later to be Seiji's father) expressed wanting to enlist in the Marines, Gintarou expressly forbade him from doing so for unknown reasons. In his old age Gintarou retired to his home on Karate Island in the South Blue, and spent more time with his family, especially doting on his grandson. Yet Seiji, too, when he became older desired to emulate his grandfather and join the Marines. Again Gintarou forbid it...but Seiji had inheirited his iron will, and would not be swayed from "the path of Justice."

Eventually Gintarou gave in, and told Seiji that if he could defeat all the different dojos on Karate Island, that he would train him to become a Marine. Though it took a whole year--no, that is to say, it somehow only took a year--Seiji accomplished the task. He'd been beaten to a pulp many times along the way, but quoted his grandfather's old saying:

"To be a Marine is to have an iron will, an iron fist, and an iron heart."

Some time after that Seiji entered the ranks of the Marines, and through a combination of hard training and catching the eyes of superior officers as a descendant of the "Platinum Fist," was promoted from a recruit to Seaman First Class. Soon after, he was assigned to a crew, and set out to sea...

Theme Song: Untraveled Road

Other: Has an enormous appetite, but refuses to drink alcohol as he is a minor.
Would it be possible to apply as a Junior Officer/New Recruit kind of position? Something similar to what Coby becomes in his second appearance? Also as far as fighting style/abilities go I was thinking of using the Rokushiki techniques, but I don't know how widespread they are outside of CP9 (Coby uses Soru, I think?) so would that be possible--maybe starting with just one and learning more over time?
Very interested, especially in the more Indian/Asian themes present here as opposed to the typical western fantasy setup. Are there any limitations on the elements used by Karma--for instance, only manipulating Earth, Fire, Air, and Water? Also, as physical movement is mentioned as a component of casting, should that be likened to the use of a staff or wand, or were you implying a system more like the Avatar series where the movement aspect was treated as sort of transferring one's energy and momentum--for instance, the Earthbenders using big stomping motions to push huge boulders around, while Waterbenders had to maintain a more gentle flow of energy?
hmm I hadnt thought about it, maybe an entirely original universe for this RP?

And then the mechanics behind it, like Artes, magic spells, and Summons would be the same as the Tales series?
It is a fictional world. I never named this one, so I haven't gotten that yet.

Demons can vary in shape and size. There is tons of flexibility to this. A lot of the smaller ones tend to run on all fours (as in the intro). But there also massive juggernauts of creatures.

Think more old western style for weapons. The rest of the tech would be more on the modern end of things.

Magic is generally used to augment things. There will be some more with this story wise. Small scope fire conjuring, using wind to knock people back, etc.

So things like revolvers, break over shotguns, and things like that? Would things like swords or axes work too or would fighting a demon at close range be too much for normal humans?
Potentially interested, but I've got several questions. Is this a post-apoc version of our world, or an entirely fictional one? What kind of creatures are the demons; are there lots of different types? What is magic like, and how does it work (aside from needing a crystal to power it? And finally, what's the tech level for weapons, machines, and things like that?
Which "universe" do you mean? Some of the games share the same world but others are stand-alone. Or do you just mean that it would be an RP based around the concepts/mechanics/etc of the Tales games? Also did you have any kind of plot in mind?
Was hoping others would post, but it's been way too long and I'm worried about this going under. I went ahead and auto-moved everything to the next day, and now we're out of the "intro phase" and more into a real plotline, so maybe this will help get things up to speed again.
John
The other students listened intently to John's explanation, nodding to show that they understood. Several clapped or oohed and aahed when he summoned his own Exbeast in preparation. Now that he had some backup, the summoner inside the barrier seemed much more confident. He raised his hands and put the finishing touches on the True Summoning ritual, and flooded the sigil with his magic power. "By the four winds that cross this world, I invoke this ceremony! Sylphid, fae of the air, come to my call and accept the contract I bear! I am thy summoner, my name is Samuel! On my behalf I will ask you to fight, and to lend me your power! If you accept and are bound to me, I shall grant in return an equal boon! Seal the contract, by completion of True Summoning! Sylphid, come forth!" The seal ignited in green flames, and the smoke rose and entwined together, forming a hole in the air itself. Through this hole was seen a flash of light, and from the rift drifted out a pale green, almost white, figure with a feminine shape but only about a foot tall. The Sylphid had long, elfin ears and two spiraling antennae coming from her head. Her wings were like those of a large moth, their scales shimmering in the light as they rapidly fluttered. There was a sound like a tinkling bell, and it seemed to be the speech of the creature, though none of the humans could discern its words save for Samuel the Summoner. He sensed, more than heard, that it would answer his summons if he provided it with fresh picked flowers and nectar as payment whenever it was called. "Your boon shall be granted! The contract is sealed!" He held out his hand, and a magic sigil formed in the air. The Sylphid touched the seal, and as it passed over her the Summoner's aura and her own were mingled, binding them. Then, the sigil began to fade, taking the creature with it back to the summoned space from which it had come. "Wow! Went off without a hitch!" said Samuel. He brought up a holo screen and turned off the barrier, then shook John's hand. "Thanks for all your advice man, it really helped!"
As other students returned from their final missions of the day, it was beginning to get late. There was still homework and studying to do, but that could be done in dorm rooms, and many bid farewell to their friends or team mates and began to head to their "homes" for the rest of the night...
The Next Day...
The following morning played out much the same as the last had, and already it seemed that, despite being the only place in the world with a magical curriculum, that AcadeMMO was very much like other schools in that it would soon become a habitual cycle. However, at lunch it seemed something exciting--or perhaps unsettling--was going to happen today after all... "Attention all students!" boomed the PC system as many were heading to the cafeteria. "There has been a submission for an Urgent Special Assignment! All Students are to report to the Special Assignment board immediately! Report to the Special Assignment board immediately!" Hayato hurried through the halls alongside many other students, wondering what all the hullabaloo was about. An Urgent Special Assignment wasn't something done for the student's benefit--it usually meant that there was some kind of crisis, the same kind that AcadeMMO was training them for in the first place. As others began to pour into the entrance lobby of the school and crowd around the Assignment Board, the holo screen blinked before displaying a quest card that took up the entire screen, rather than being a small name on a list like usual.
Hayato's eyes were wide. Rogue Magi were people who had magical abilities, but were not undergoing training at AcadeMMO or the MMO Corps, and thus were not under any kind of control or restraint. Though some magic users had no interest in becoming soldiers or fighting Exbeasts, they were at least registered with officials and undertook proper safety precautions so that their powers weren't dangerous. Rogue Magi, however, intentionally did the opposite, wanting to use their power for their own selfish purposes. The terrorist organization COVEN had come into being about a decade ago, but only in the last five years had they actually begun to gather any kind of momentum. Still, most of their activity had been limited to third world countries where the populace didn't have access to many methods of opposition. For them to launch an attack on the United States, of all places...just what was going on? Hayato looked around, searching for Hazel or Joe or anyone he had seen the day before...
