If you're going by UK conventions of knighthood/nobility, yes. It also would be pronounced like the "dam" in "madame," rather than like a Dick Tracy "daym."

Here's my submission for a character, let me know if anything needs to be fixed or fleshed out some more.

Interested, but I have a few questions.

Is this planned as more of a "mystery game," where the players will be encouraged to figure out who's doing this, why, and how?

Or will it be more of a "battle" scenario, where after using the power of the dice--perhaps to gain supernatural abilities or accomplish unlawful goals--players turn against each other and each must try to "win the game?"

Both are fine alone or as a hybrid, I just want to get a better feel for the atmosphere of the story so I can design my character accordingly.
So are any of Kenji's crazy conspiracy theories anywhere close to the mark?

Who wants to bet we end up having to kill this Absolute thing in a rage-against-the-heavens scenario that causes this bleak, dreary, ultimate dark fantasy setting to suddenly loop around and become a hotblooded story of survival against all odds in order to bring a ray of hope back to a broken world?

Maybe I should have had Kenji use a drill instead...
Kenji, like Donny, tried to make a move to stop the woman as she headed towards the well, but he hesitated over whether or not this situation was really as it appeared. Maybe the woman was going to make some kind of wish on the well, or drag something up from its depths, call some horrible monster out to eat her instead--no. The simplest conclusion turned out to be the correct one, and Kenji watched like the others, wide eyed, as the woman threw herself to her death.

A shout drew his attention to another figure, this one a hobbling man who blamed the group for...something. As Kenji looked around at the slain dog-men, Donny was the first to call the stranger out on how fucked up all of this was. But all of this talk was bringing out some much more workable information about this new world that Kenji could start putting together for himself.

I was actually right, in a sense. That woman was, if she's to be believed, a criminal who was being taken away for some kind of cleansing ritual. Why she bothered struggling I don't know...maybe it was just some kind of show? Kenji knelt next to the God Hand he had slain, and following Paul's earlier example, used its own cleaver to behead it. Though he was much more careful about it, and thus only got blood stains on one of his pants legs. He almost threw up again, but held it down as he used the creature's own ratty cloak as a bag to hold the dripping trophy.

The woman uttered the same phrase that the pale lady did before, in that Church of the Absolute. These creatures were called God Hands...implying they're servants of this same Church? He looked at Maria. The likelihood that she and the strange, patchwork-quilted man from before were being intentionally misleading seemed much higher to him now. The Mayor didn't recognize us as Hunters at first...implying that the reason the other townsfolk don't get involved is because they've all intentionally agreed not to do so for some reason. If this failure means that the God Hand will come back in greater numbers...

He turned in place, looking out across the town in different directions. Here and there through the fog he caught sight of a wooden, barely standing wall. And of course the settlement as a whole still seemed to be a complete shithole.

A necessary sacrifice? They allow the God Hand to take one of their own, in order to ensure survival and avoid conflict? And now we've ruined their ritual, so the God Hand will come in force to punish them. The Church of the Absolute requires Hunters to make donations, and they earn the money by slaying monsters...The monsters themselves serve the Absolute too. And they serve by murdering sinful humans...apparently killing people in large enough numbers that a town like this is turned into a ghost town and forced to willingly give themselves up to avoid being wiped out completely...

A flash of insight came to Kenji, and he involuntarily sucked in a breath.

Absolute. Sinful nature. According to some theories of both religion and philosophy, human beings are inherently born with sinful natures. We design laws to prevent the sins of others, like murder and theft...but human laws are CONDITIONAL. Someone who steals a candy bar will get a lesser punishment than someone who steals a thousand dollars from a bank. Someone who unintentionally kills someone during a fight won't be sentenced as harshly as someone who plans out the murder in detail.

But would an ABSOLUTE being allow such gradation on the scale of "sin?"

Maybe this Absolute god or whatever it is actually exists in this world, and sees humans as inherently corrupt. Thus they are deserving of punishment even if they haven't "done anything," because the very act of existing is sinful. So it uses the monsters to destroy them...yet maybe it considers the acts of violence the monsters commit to be sinful as well, and thus Hunters exist to punish the monsters? It seems like it would create an endless cycle...but it also provides money for the Church...

Kenji growled to himself and shook his head. He was jumping to too many conclusions. Still, his hunch about the woman had been right. They should have just let her be dragged away, as heartless as it was to say. He felt like he was on the right track, but that he was definitely missing some vital pieces.

He would let Donny question the Mayor, and no doubt some of the others would do the same. Instead, he turned back to the pale woman. Walking up to Maria, spear cradled in one arm and leaning against his shoulder while his other hand held the bag with the God Hand's head, he looked at her suspiciously behind the thick frames of his glasses.

@KoL"You want us to make donations to the same God that uses these creatures as his Hands? Or am I misunderstanding that?" he asked. "What exactly are the teachings of the Church of the Absolute?"
And Torako manages to put the first crack in Dai Xin's stoneface. Let's see how she fares when the questions of a fighting otaku bombard her as swiftly as his fists.
"Kara-Te..." Dai Xin stroked his chin with one hand as he mulled over the words. He knew that Rikoku and Yunzhou actually shared many concepts in their languages, but the harder consonant sounds and the fact that words or symbols might be written the same, but pronounced differently, left him with no idea how to begin deciphering the words that Torako used. Defending oneself from armored and armed opponents sounded useful, and while the "Su-Mo" seemed less like a real martial art at first glance Dai Xin knew that many martial arts had concealed their techniques through "entertainment" such as dancing or ceremonial rituals. But what interested him the most was something that was considered "basic," yet had been the first thing to come to mind when asked about "Rikokan Martial Arts."

"Can you describe Kara-Te to me in more detail?" he asked, looking thoughtful. "What do the words mean in Yunzhan? You describe it as basic, but if it is a well-known style it can't be that simple, can it? Are there family variants, or branch styles? What are the signature techniques? How do they train?"

He practically bombarded the poor girl with questions now, unlike his generally reserved nature before...and surprisingly enough, his eyes were starting to become a little more animated as well. He was looking at Torako with an expression not unlike an inquisitive child on their first trip to the library.
@Zeroth I really like Seeker.

Just wait til he finds something tall to pose on.

I almost started the intro off by saying that he was kneeling--while somehow upside down on the ceiling, ninja style.
Seeker knelt more appropriately than many of the others, almost as if it came naturally. Despite his somewhat out of place clothing, garments that were less armor or traveling wear than they were a kind of martial arts uniform, he struck one of the more noble figures as he knelt on one knee, his other raised before him with his free arm across it, fist on his chest. His head was bowed, but his eyes--an unusual crimson shade not often seen these days--darted here and there as Queen Zelda spoke.

Serving the queen. Perhaps he was the first Shiekah in a hundred years to have this honor. Once his people had been the Crown's right hand, a hidden dagger and a shield of shadows. Now they were scattered, hidden away from the world, biding their time and rebuilding the power that had been broken so long ago. When the missive from the Queen had come--for the Royal Family would always know where the tribe lay hidden, and if times were dire enough the Shiekah would come to the crown's assistance even if it meant their extinction--he had been not only the sole volunteer, but the sole option for his people. He was one of the last, if not the only, full blooded males of the tribe. He had inherited almost all that remained of their arts. This journey into the world carried a dual purpose. Obviously he would serve the queen, and her mission would be first and foremost.

And hopefully, along the way, he'd see a few ladies that caught his eye. Like the two who were present among the Queen's chosen. One of them had a rough streak in her, as almost immediately once they had been dismissed, she charged forward on some sort of personal business with Her Majesty. The guards were wary of her, and rightly so, but Seeker doubted she'd go so far as to assault a monarch in broad daylight.

The other woman, with longer hair that was slightly darker, also struck Seeker as a bit out of the ordinary. Both of these women had come armed practically to the teeth. Perhaps that was only good sense, given the kind of mission they had been selected for, but he'd never seen a lady with a halberd like that. He wondered how someone as thinly built as she could heft such a thing.

The others present didn't warrant near as much of his attention. An older man, more a scholar than a fighter, a fellow tattooed with the tribal designs of the Gorons, and...another member of a race that the land had not seen too often over the past years.

A male Gerudo? Surely not...He's probably just tan from living near the desert, or being outdoors a lot...but the shape of his facial features and his eyes...Hm.

The maybe-Gerudo boy had a brief scene with the guards; from Seeker's point of view it seemed like he'd almost reacted on instinct, or else was trying to put on some bravado, and it could very well have gotten him killed. Though, from the way he moved, it did seem like he might know his way around a fight...

But now they were leaving, and there was no time to pay attention to the others. His objectives came first. He rose and bowed in the servile manner of his people to the Queen.

"As you will it, Your Grace." he said, before turning and striding along with the others towards the doors. Out of habit he synced his footsteps and movements with the others around him, erasing the sounds of his stride with the echo of theirs and standing in a blind spot behind the person in front of him.

The castle's halls and stairs soon gave way to bright sunlight as the group moved out into the courtyard, and from there on to their business. Seeker approached the fiery woman from earlier as she mounted one of the horses and seemed to take charge over the group. Now that he was out of the grand hall, his courtly manner was instantly usurped by his real personality.

"Yeah, let's get this show on the road!" he whooped, flashing Lydia a smile as he acrobatically leaped and flipped through the air onto a mount of his own, standing vertically in the saddle with ease even as the horse neighed and rocked a little bit to adjust itself to the unusual weight. He bowed with a flourish of one hand. "The name's Seeker, of the proud and mighty Shiekah!" Still smiling, he looked at her and gave a flirtatious wink. "Might I know the name of the beauty I'll be working with?"
Ready to go.
Though I dunno how great of a sword you can make from someone that's basically a humanoid dog.

You're right, they'd make a better Hammer if you mounted three of their heads on one of their spinal cords.

Call it the Cerberus Crusher, three jewel slots, but probably only high yellow sharpness since they don't have scales or very hard bones.
