Current Attn teeny boppers: You realize adbots aren't ppl, yes? They randomly generate login info, then execute pre-programmed posts. Your rage-spam goes unheard by the machine. And is equally annoying.

If you're going by UK conventions of knighthood/nobility, yes. It also would be pronounced like the "dam" in "madame," rather than like a Dick Tracy "daym."

@Double Then the character I had in mind would probably work, if you approved of it. The idea is something similar to Berserker of Fate/Zero, an enraged knight. In the game, there's one knight we see in the back allies of Castle Town dying from a wound received from Ganondorf. This character is based on something similar; what if, after Link pulls the Master Sword free and Ganon passes through the portal into the Sacred Realm, there is a knight left from the coup d'etat between Ganon's forces and the Hylian army who is still following Ganon, determined not to let him have his way. He fails, of course, as Ganon has already entered the Sacred Realm and taken the Triforce of Power, corrupting the realm into the Dark World. When this Knight enters the portal, he becomes lost in the Dark World, and corrupted by the very rage it pulls out of him. And at the start of the RP, he finally manages to fight his way back into the world of light, with his battered mind only capable of remembering one thing: his quest to destroy Ganon.

Would this work, or does it sound too far fetched for the kind of things you planned to let characters do over the course of the story?
Possibly interested. I was part of a Zelda based RP very similar to this one's idea before--taking place after Ganon's rise to power in the fallen hero timeline--and if I joined this I'd like to use the same character. However, there are a few questions I have related to that:

When Link pulls the Master Sword, Ganon gains access to the Sacred Realm that it was sealing. It's never addressed in the game, but would the Sacred Realm become the Dark World like in A Link to the Past, with the same corrupting properties? Would Ganon use such a portal to bolster his armies, either calling out the creatures of the dark world, or throwing prisoners into the portal and then enslaving their corrupted forms? And would such corruption spread to the Light/Real World through the portal, or would passing through negate the transformation?

Obviously this is all moot if you choose not to have such a mechanic in your story, and that's fine. I just thought I'd ask because the character I was thinking of using is tied to all of that.

"I am Damar, Damar Maadik. It is a pleasure to meet you, Brother." The Consular bowed his head, and waited as Vijjo would likely introduce himself as well. Afterwards, he added, "Informing the Council might be prudent, but I somewhat wary to do so given that they might see it as an attempt to legitimize Revan's own desires to head into the battlefield. If I were to, even in part, be seen to be supporting him over the Council, it would likely set me on the path to inevitable conflict between them. I don't want to say, concretely, that I am for one side or the other just yet." He turned in the direction that Stadak and the young woman, presumably his Padawan, had gone--towards the Council's chambers. "But, they may yet consider giving me some form of leniency...If I am with Revan's forces, I may be able to mediate some of the actions of the younger and more brash who would accompany him. Not to boast, of course." He looked back at Vijjo and gestured for him to follow. "Come, perhaps we can find out more of the Council's mood from our Brother who goes to confirm Revan's story."

Moving away from the crowd and down the processional hallways, Damar and Vijjo would soon come to the great doors of the Council's chamber. The guards gave them a glance and a nod of acknowledgement, which Damar returned, but made it clear with their body language that no one else was to enter at the moment. Seeing Taiko sitting on a bench nearby, Damar looked at Vijjo, and pointed the girl out with his eyes. Leading the way, he approached the Padawan.

@Midori"Excuse me, Miss. I assume you are the apprentice of the Knight currently speaking to the council?" Damar began. "Do you have any clue, perhaps, as to how they have received him?" He took a step to one side so that he was not towering over the girl directly, and folded his hands before him. He did so without really thinking about it, but he was acting on a subconscious desire to avoid making the girl feel trapped or imposed on by questioning strangers.

@TheBigJon
Oh, I see. Alright then, how about we continue the conversation, then head after Stadak assuming he exits relatively soon to see what the Council said to him?
Oh, it was a bit of both! I was also wondering where you think the conversation should go. I was thinking I'd let Damar kind of dictate the situation.

That's fine by me. I like to let conversations flow naturally between characters, though, so I don't really have any specific topics in mind.

Whenever my character interacts with others, I try to either ask open ended questions instead of yes/no ones, or leave the conversation open for a response. For instance, Damar just said he thinks trusting one's instincts is too primitive. Would your character take that as an insult, or would he think about what Damar was saying to him and change his opinion? How deeply is he actually thinking about what's being said, or how much of what Damar's saying does he understand? Things like that.

Wait I'm confused on what you mean

The content of the post or my comment? I just meant that Damar's the type to ramble on and on about philosophy and navel gaze on things.

For the post, he's basically saying he wants to see what's happening first hand and gather more information before he makes a decision, and that he thinks following one's instincts is too primitive to be of any real use in decision making.
Jedi who value being able to say much with few words often learn a valuable lesson from Damar.

Don't ask him "what do you think?"

Alek's Rally

"As of yet, I am trying to refrain from a take at all." Damar replied, one hand coming up to hold his chin in a contemplative manner. "I have not seen for myself the level of destruction the Mandalorians have wrought. On holotapes, it certainly portrays atrocity after atrocity, but these are often gathered after the battles have passed. It shows the flames of war, buildings destroyed in the wake of bombs and the dropping of Basilisk Droids. But I must see and speak with Republic soldiers, and walk their ships, to know how they truly fare against the enemy. I must have more than one source of information--were it possible, I would even wish to speak to the Mandalorians. I wish to hear from the Jedi who have defended themselves on worlds such as Taris, and from the inhabitants of those worlds that have been ravaged."

He crossed his arms again, and shook his head.

"I wish to know as much as possible before making a final decision. But I suppose, in my heart, I do agree with Alek and Revan to an extent. The Mandalorians cannot be allowed to slaughter innocents without facing some sort of consequence. Though I know that vengeance and anger are forbidden, I also know evil must not be allowed to thrive. War, no matter who fights it, is surely an evil." He turned to look at Vijjo.

"You say you do not like to think of things too deeply. I'm afraid I am unequipped to understand such a sentiment. To think deeply, to be aware of one's thoughts and feelings and understand them...and to do the same for others...I have always felt that such was the only way to truly find peace. Forgive me, I mean no offense...But I feel if one simply 'followed their guts' without knowing why they felt the need to do so, they would not be able to do better than the most primal of solutions. It is all too obvious that to stop an evil man, you must kill him. It takes education, wisdom, and all sorts of other knowledge to be able to understand him, and instead turn him to the light."

Vijjo had paid the man a credit for his thoughts and had probably gotten enough to fill both ears. Such was the constant working of the mind that was Damar Maadik's.
@TheBigJon
I'm gonna wait a bit before I post, if that's alright, so that other people can get an intro or something in too. Otherwise it might turn into just a back and forth between us.
@Byzantine
Thanks, so it sounds like it's a more realistic and detailed version of say, Skyrim, where actually doing things and practicing, much like you would in real life, is what develops the skill?

Are there such things as named "Skills" or abilities that characters would learn? For instance, a swordsman character learning a "Cleave," "Spin Attack," etc type moves? Or do they just do those moves by themselves without any kind of special quality added to them?
