Alleyway of Eldra, Shalador

Dareen startled a little bit at the sudden weight on her shoulders but was relieved to see it was only Jandar. Strange to think how while before she only treated him with a basic amount of friendly apathy he was now someone she was looking forward to seeing. With all this bullshit that's been happening. She turned to look at him and then squinted, giving his body a quick onceover.

Ranina, whoever she was, was totally gone. Jandar was talking to Dareen in a silly outfit, the ex-mercenary broke character.

"I'm fine." She wiped her brow with the back of her hand. "I just...there was this street kid I think might have noticed us. I gave a little chase but he slipped away. But enough about me, you look hurt Ja- ohan?" She cleared her throat, straightening her dress out and trying to go back to looking like Ranina. Almost saying Johan's real name was kind of a wake up call.

"What happened in there?" She said quietly, giving Jandar the side-eye. Then she saw Mikhail vanish out of the bookstore, and for a moment she was surprised before she realised he must have slipped in while she was distracted by the child. Dareen shook her head and held her wrist in her hand. "Sorry. You can tell me later. We'll focus on your cousin for now." She got the allegory quickly. Dareen tipped her head up and, like Mikhail suggested, tried to maintain what little remained of her disguise.
De'kae, the Druid

De'kae looked numbly up at the woman who had accosted her with her overt friendlyness. Maybe she could just pretend like she didn't understand her just to make her go away. Kay's head hurt and she was in a bad mood, coming off of a terrifiying, life threatening experience, with mortal wounds just freshly beginning to heal.

Kay didn't move, continuing to lay on her back. Her legs felt like they were made of wet paper. The Druid Elf was also still soaking from the fall. A thousand pounds of weight lay ontop of her and there was no way she could to even attempt to struggle against it for now.

Kay closed her eyes and sighed. When she opened them she glanced back up at Amberelle and smiled wearily. "Yes, I can understand you. Yes, my ears are real. And I've known how to make my hands go pew pew ever since I learned it as a little girl. It's called the Life-Weld." She explained with a flat, annoyed voice.. But Amberelle here was just trying to make friends. She seemed nice, really nice, actually. Kay imagine they could be good friends. Manners cost nothing, she reminded herself.

"Sorry, Amberelle, I...I'm in a bit of a bad mood. There was a giant spider, you see, and it attempted to maul me to death. That's why I'm just going stay down here for a little bit and...vegetate. Or something. I don't know." She brushed a wet strand of hair out of her face, still laying on her back.

"My name is De'kae, by the way." She stretched out a pale limb in an vertically inclined attempt at a handshake. "My friends call me Kay, so you can call me that, too." She smiled warmly.

Natalia

ABI was online. Natalia nodded to herself, satisfied with her work. The inside of the Powered Armor thrummed to life as the heads up display and various indicators flashed to life. Now she had a much greater understanding of her enviroment. And, most important of all, her trusted companion, ABI.

The Powered Armor, previously an unmoving, stoic monolith, suddenly moved with a lot more character. It glanced around, confused, and brought a metallic hand up to scratch it's bald head. Natalia's memories were instantly transferred into that of the machine's via the subdermal link.

"Oh, man. We're in a little bit of trouble, huh, Nat?" The Armor spoke with a chipper, American accent. It was speaking aloud, clearly enough for anyone nearby to hear it, like an obnoxious tourist having a loud conversation with her friend over the phone. Natalia's voice was hollow, tinny, and quiet, only audible for those who pressed their ears against the torso of the Powered Armor.

"Yes." Natalia responded.

"It seems like we've been transported to some kind of...weird, alternate dimension. Could this be a result of the veil anomaly being broken? That would kinda suck, huh? We almost saw the stars." ABI said, wistfully disappointed.

"Almost." Natalia responded flatly, staring at HUD readout about the temperature of the local area.

"I'm sorry, Nat. I know how much you wanted to see them. Maybe they are through those doors over there, huh?" The Powered Armor levelled a massive finger towards the door.

"Potentially." Natalia responded.

The armor turned and stared at Ariamis. "Well, hello! I don't think we've met, huh? At least we haven't said our names. My name is Abi! I'm a big giant robot. I think you already met my friend Natalia before! Big blue circle under her shirt, missing a leg, kind of creepy dead looking eyes?" The robot waved and then flattened her palm, making an 'iffy' gesture by rotating it from side to side. Speaking of dead eyes, the small white glowing slits that made up the optics of the machine had little, simulated eyelids that expressed a surprising amount of emotion.

The inventor on the inside of the machine let Abi do her thing. She was programmed to be sociable, friendly, and empathetic. She felt her weight shift around as the AI moved the suit of her own will. Natalia had brought up a holopad on the inside of the armor and began tapping through various readouts. As she suspected, there were no nearby Wifi connections, nor could their location be identified via GPS. They were obviously deep underground. But Natalia believed they were in an extradimensional space. Various kinds of science, unknown to her, were being used by her compatriots. Things similar to magic. She couldn't be sure, but she was assuming she had been taken to an alternate dimension.

Annie's parent's house

Annie looked at Detective Ramirez and tried to remember. Did she even think to look at the lisence plate? Not even a little. "Uh...no. No, I don't know the liscence plate. Sorry. It was a nice car, though. Looked fancy. It was...silver, I think." She smooshed her hands against her cheeks in defeat. "Oh, my goodness. I really messed up.

But she perked up when Detective Gold mentioned a name. "That could be her! I guess. I don't mean to judge but she didn't look like she cared about the law that much. Also, she called me sweetie, even though I'm older than her." She said, crossing her arms. "Only by a year, I guess. But still." Annie said reluctantly and a little petulantly. Still, no one deserved to be kidnapped by some weirdo.

Annie was wondering if she should tell the police officers about the weird thing the man did with his hands. Made her see things. Familiar, disturbing things. Would they even believe her? It looked and sounded like magic. Memories from her childhood. And a letter from earlier today.

Gold and Ramirez would be able to see from the family pictures on the wall that Annie lived with two married older women. That meant she must be adopted, too, which is something that seemed to be going around a lot these days.

Yasaliah Josk: Pilot

Josk rolled her shoulders, smiling devilishly at her Captain. "You got it, Ray. We'll have this whats-his-face in cuffs in no time. Time to enforce the law and finish off this genocide the Commitee started." She said humorously, twirling a loose strand of her ponytail. Almost everyone walked into the Phoenix at once, which was probably a bad idea. Nothing more obvious than a squad of heavily armed goons strolling into a divebar and asking questions and getting real chummy. Amateurs. Well, whatever. Not like she really cared about catching this guy, anyway. The people inside the Phoenix could wait. There were a gazillion other classless places just like it. Truth be told, Yasaliah knew exactly how this was going to do down. There were going to trot around this crappy planet, find nothing, and then go home after getting yelled at by the Commitee.

Instead of walking into the bar like her clueless compatriots, Josk hit her stride and circled around the back of the business. Anyone who was tipped off to the approach of her crewmates would probably leave out the back entrance. Finding a suitable spot in the alleyway, she kept an eye on the back door of the Phoenix.

Tapping idly on her datapad as if she was searching the net, Josk was in reality checking anyone who exited the Phoenix to be this assassin guy. Anyone that looked like a shape shifter she could accost, pretend to be one of probably many honest sex workers that wandered places like this. Satasis had it easy in the way that pretty much all of them were super hot by common galactic standards, and Josk was like, ten times hotter than that. So it should be easy. If he was in there, they would find him. If not, she would just tag along to whatever other crappy place they found next and just do the same thing until we all got tired and went home.

Ugh! Okay. This time I mean it! Tonight!
DIO

DIO had one leg crossed over the other. "I understand completely, if not relate too you somewhat. I, DIO, also have discarded elements of my past that are unbefitting of me." DIO brushed some of the golden blonde hair from his face as Dracula asked him more about himself.

"And here I thought I was being impolite by speaking too much. Very well. In my world, it is currently the year 1989. Humanity has innovated quite a bit in the time I have existed in the world, developing things like automobiles. Steel vehicles that roam the streets, run by combustion engines and fill the air with smog. Firearms have revolutionized warfare, moving from simple implements in my time to weapons capable of dealing death at marvelous rates, firing high velocity projectiles capable of ripping flesh asunder. There are even bombs that can wipe an entire city off the map, flattening the Earth and burning people to cinders in an instant. Those unfortunate to surive these bombs will be afflicted by poison and ailments and cancers unbeknownst to any who came before." DIO monolouged with interest, having given indepth research to the weapons of his potential enemies. He would have to pay every country in the world a visit to completely dominate them, once the Joestars were out of his hair.

"They are all very...quaint. But I, DIO, posess a power far greater than all of them put together. A power I intend on using to rule the entire planet once I return to Egypt from the Crossroads. Tell me, Dracula, have you ever heard of a power called a 'Stand'?" DIO asked, clearly revelling in his own power. Even if Dracula had heard of Stands, there was no way he could know he possessed the ultimate Stand. This was one reason DIO was confident in letting anyone into his abode. He truly believed he was invincible.

Eltariel

Eltariel watched with awestruck wonder as the magnificent creature left her and returned to her tower to sleep beside it. It was a humbling experience to see such a beast. It struck her as...noble. Dignified. Wise and long living. A similar feeling to standing before Galadriel, but this giant lizard had an unknowable quality about it, having coming from some distant world. Was it alone? Was it separated from its pack? Was there a world out there brimming with these things, of even grander heights? Or did this creature rule it's world like some sort of God?

It was asleep now. Eltariel saw her vision becoming dark and tunnel-like and knew that she, too, would be asleep soon, though in a different way. The shaking and the pain had stopped, and the chill of the snow had been replaced by an all too familiar warmth. Eltariel fell onto her back, blinking up at the overcast clouds. She began breathing heavily, less and less air moving into her lungs each time. Her chest rose, fell, rose, fell, rose, fell...rose...fell...rose...fell...

Eltariel stared, half-lidded at the sky above, no longer moving or breathing. Her pale blue eyes had glazed over and there was no more life in them. Her expression was tired and resigned.

Several hours would pass, but ancient forces of magic unknown to her would eventually return her to the Crossroads. Now, though, there was just a small person laying in the snow, a dimunitive blue spot compared to the massive creature at the base of a stone obelisk.

Annie's parent's house

Annie nodded as the woman detective, Ramirez asked what they looked like. "Yes. Um, let's see. The guy was bald. Maybe like, 5'8 or 5'10? Taller than me of for sure. He was white, but tanned. Also strong looking. I think he had a little bit of a beard." She said, scratching her hair.

"The girl was...shorter than me by a couple of inchess. Maybe five feet tall? White, too, with dirty blonde hair that came down to just around her shoulders." She gestured at the area on her own head. "Um...I'm not really sure how to describe their faces. That seems kind of hard, if that's what you want, but I guess I could give it a try?"

She looked over as the male detective, Gold, excused himself to take a call. "No, yes, of course, no problem." Annie sat back in her chair, her hands folded in her lap and her legs pressed tightly together.

The Ballroom

August 31st, Sunset | Center of the Hall | An Entrance

Elly had nodded, smiling. "Well, such stahlwert comrades are good to have you. Whatever that means." Elly said with a good natured chuckle, taking a sip of wine. She blinked at him breaking the 'fragile' cup. Took a lot of effort to do that. A nervous twitch perhaps? It certainly was an interesting little tick. Unless this was the only time it had happened, or maybe it was just a faulty cup. Either way it soon passed from the light blonde's mind. "It is good to meet you, Dieter. I-" the words were plucked from her mouth just as the life of the King of Thelan was plucked from his body.

The piece of meet feel from her fingers and rolled onto the floor. What was this? Everyone stood in shocked silence as some fucking traitor strolled into the room like he owned the place. But the viking woman was outraged. The Pendletons were white with shock and they vanished from Elly's life, fading into the background. After the man finished his spiel, Elly grabbed a nearby wine bottle, flipped it upside down, and smashed it, glaring at him with furious eyes. She seemed intent on slicing the throat of every traitor in the room herself. He would dare do this? As if it was his place to decide? She had no love for the the Thelannian king but this was an attack on everything Elly stood for. The fury was almost too much to bear, her hands were shaking and tears sprung to her eyes. There would be war. Thousands would die and more over she felt like her outrage was only being met with cowardice and indifference from those in the room. "You...!" She croaked angrily. She didn't even have her weapons!

But her anger was to assuaded and replaced with determination. One of Alice's men- loyal to the cause, handed Elly her wooden shield and heavy hand axe. She nodded grimly and then turned to look at Dieter. Words escaped her and she looked away, giving a glare of death to the nearest one of the rebels. Joining the others in the fray, Elly roared and lunged into battle, aiming to bury her handaxe in the neck of the nearest enemy with tremendous force.
