I think I need to make a weak character to ensure ranked fights. So any reasonable character idea you guys have and I will turn it into a character.

@Skallagrim Hmm.

Here's a challenge to you, Skall: make an unarmed fighter who uses mainly his legs instead of his hands. Something akin to a tae kwon do or a capoeira practitioner. As for powers, I don't know go crazy lol

Do that, and I might challenge you to a ranked match against a similar themed fighter I'm in the process of writing now.

Hell, I'd even consider something zany (I'm just writing this off the top of my head) like a system where 2-4 players start a game (FFA or 2v2) with nothing on their character, spawned in some battlezone with a randomly generated description. And as they play, they get random "cards" that range from giving them random items to buffs to debuffs. And maybe the randomness + a point system gives it replay value?

A point system as rewards for winning or a point system to keep track of how good the character's abilities are in order to make balance in all of the randomness? Debuffs would subtract points and buffs add them so you can see if someone is a 20 points you'd know how unfair or fair a matchup is and could give them additional buff or debuff cards in order to even things out. Drawing a card saying "has a wooden leg like a pirate" would be worth -2 points while something even more serious like "Has a pet zombie bird that pecks his/her eyes at a 20% chance every turn and he can't stop it" would be worth -5 points. Everyone can sumbit all of their ideas to a huge list to randomly choose from based on number generators. Either that or there's a secret list that you submit ideas to the moderators so you are even more surprised with what you get stuck with.

So a Savate, silat or muay thai style fighter and I can add powers to that base? Maybe let me know a limiting factor on the power side.

Hmm. Maybe something like a themed power. A single power that your fighter has. Kinda like how, say, the Human Torch is all fire, Iceman is all ice, etc etc

Yup! Something that can blend well with the use of one's legs as a weapon! :D

Well, the next time you make a supernatural character have a peruse through your potential opponents and scale your attributes appropriately, it's usually OK to be superior in one specific stat, but when you're faster and stronger with a wide range of flexible powers as well the match up probably won't be fair. That would be my advice for finding fights.

Thanks for the advice but I think I will continue to make characters as I wish. Besides I can be a normal human and people will still avoid me so your advice is really moot.

No Melon, its not insanity and what not. You said it yourself my real life skill/knowledge makes it difficult to fight me. If I use a basic human I still get no takers, so is it really insanity? That's a crap answer and you know it.

No, doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is insanity. You have to change -something- and obviously you're not going to forget all your skills, so you have to change your characters to make them more appetizing to fight. I can honestly say the power level of your characters is far more of a deterrent than your skill, at least to me.

I can learn from fighting a better opponent, I can learn from fighting a more powerful character, I'm just going to die fighting someone with greater skill and a more powerful character and have very little fun.

Why do I have to change? Why don't people get out of their comfort zones and develop their characters or their skills?

@DJAtomika My character An Gan Xu will be done today sometime, a Muay Thai fighter taught by Mali Warat his skills and powers to exact justice on the insurgents who killed his village.

There's no issue with fun fights though, when you're talking about rankings where your time is limited and you want to have the best chance possible of winning you're not going to fight the guy who you've heard is badass when you also realise his characters are very powerful with -a lot- of options. I've fought Freedom twice now and I still can't think of a single strategy to defeat the guy without creating a vastly more powerful character. Skallagrim rekt Fury so hard it was barely even worth the effort.

This is just my opinion of course, but I am one of the people that could be potentially fighting you, so it's worth finding out why one guy at least honestly would prefer not to battle -most- of your characters.

Like I said, I'd still like to fight the Lycan with Adrian or Jok against the Soldier dude, when I'm free-er.

Well, that's like saying 'Aww man why isn't my melon-pie selling when all these other guys around me are selling apple-pie so easily, screw making apple-pie all you paying customers should just decide you like melon-pie.'

Alright, crap analogy, but regardless.

Sure, they could be reckless and eat the melon pie and maybe they'll like it, but I suspect most would prefer the apple pie, and the majority of people play it safe with their money and just buy the apple pie.

I'm not sure where I'm going with the pie analogies, I'm very ill at the moment.

Also, it's worth pointing out that despite how active the leader-boards look, most people don't actually have any fights going on. Inactivity is probably the biggest reason why some people don't have any fights to compete in.
