New York City. A place known for its pizza, Lady Liberty, baseball, and corrupt businesses. So corrupt, that even the local government is getting in on it. When Mayor Lionheart was put in power, crime has been strict on some gangs and laws, but lenient on gangs secretly working for large corporations. The people don't know what to think of the government, in today's economy the rich get richer and everyone else is left on the streets. Sheriff Wolf puts an end to any protests against the Mayor, large businesses shut down smaller ones, and everyone has seemed to have lost hope.

Then the Merry Men came along.

A group of very skilled individuals in stealth, hacking, persuasion, and combat, they are lead by the mysterious Robin Hood. They don't kill, they don't terrorize, the only thing people claim them to do is steal large amounts of money from corrupt businesses, and then donate to charities, or give away unmarked bills silently in the street. No one knows how many there are, or what they look like, except their leader wears a green hood, and carries around a bow for protection.

The mayor has done everything to take down these "Group of Vigilantes" by any means necessary, but the Merry Men are always one step ahead. So far none have been caught, and they are slowly giving that hope to New York. Many will try to stop them, others will join, and some people will have good hearts but wrong intentions to try and help them. They show no sign of stopping, even with the large bounty on their heads. No one seems to want the money, because they know you get what you give.

Robin Hood and his gang have become notorious, and you are either with them, or against them in this world of Capitalism.

RULES:

1) This is a modern day version of the classic tales of Robin Hood, so if you would like to incorporate a character in to this world, please do so! If you have an idea for a new character, also do so!

2)Don't be jerks. No killing others, the police won't instantly find the Merry Men, and the Merry Men won't always be successful in their missions.

3)This will be a more mature RP, blood, violence, language, romance, drama, all of the good stuff!

4) Please stick to one character for now until I see how many are interested in joining

5) If you have any questions or concerns with other characters, or just the RP in general, please send me a PM!

6) Please please please no one sentenced posts! I do believe in quality over quantity, but saying "She opened the door." isn't going to help with the story.

Personality:
Skills/abilities: optional
Family/Loves Ones?: Friends, family, boy/girlfriend, cousin, etc.
Other:
Name: Robert "Robin" Locksley

Alias: Robin Hood

Age: 27

Appearance:

In Robin Hood uniform: Green hoodie, black handkerchief around mouth, small pads on shoulders, forearms, and knees, black boots and jeans, quiver and bow, with a knife belt across chest.

Faction: Merry Men

Occupation: Unemployed, used to be a lawyer

Bio: I know what it was like to be rich. I was born to two very wealthy people. My father owning a law firm, and my mother being a lawyer before she passed away. I had all the money in the world, i wasn't going around bragging about it, but I was oblivious to the amount of money every else did. I would stick up for those who needed it, befriended those who would accept my friendship. I met some good friends I still have today in my younger years.

One of those good friends was Tyrone Tuck, more commonly known as Friar Tuck. I was a young boy when I first met him, with my parents being Catholics, but as the time went on I would often go to the Friar for his advice, because he didn't really seem to take sides, or hold grudges (which is very good for me). Like Robin, Friar Tuck had this habit of trying to help those who weren't economically sound, or just needed the help in any case.

I soon followed in my parents footsteps becoming a lawyer, using my charm and looks to give me an edge. They started to teach me when I was young so I wouldn't take so much time in school, they also had connections to make the process faster, and I was a natural at that as well. I usually took the cases others wouldn't, which didn't make my dad or his business partners happy. That didn't stop me from doing what's right. But being this, there was this girl... Marian Anderson had to be the most beautiful woman I have ever seen, but being a cocky, rich lawyer gave me that... I messed around with her, tried to use my charm in a not so romantic way, and well.. she didn't like it that much. We respected each other professionally. I partied, I laughed, I had fun, dad and I would go to the shooting range every once in a while as well, you can never be too safe in New York. I was pretty good with a bow and a sniper if I do say so myself.

Everything was going right until my dad told me to purposely lose a case. I refused, and one night after work, I was beaten to a bloody pulp to make it clear that I lose that case. I won it... but that came with a price. I went bankrupt, I lost connection to my father, and I had nothing to my name... I went to Friar Tuck for some recovery, him giving me a place to stay and some food until I got up on my feet again. But I was smart. I had a few hundred dollars stored in a secret account, I bought a small apartment, i had some friends retrieve some personal items for me, and I trained. I wasn't going to get my ass handed to me again. I spent days working out, learning to fight, throw knives, parkour, everything a successful thief needs. It took a long time, a lot of scars, mess ups, but I did it.

All that was left to do was get a band of people together that has the same interests... So i made some calls, made arrangements, and a few skilled friends of mine stole tens of thousands of dollars from a business who hired guys to beat me up before my life changed... Since then our legend grew. Little John and I grew Our band of Merry Men (and Women!), and we are the most wanted people in New York, with yours truly at the top. We give most to charity and those who really need it, and we keep a bit of it to get new technology, weapons, and these nice matching costumes to hide our identities. When I'm not being the infamous Robin Hood, I'm either sleeping, doing some research, or pretending to be a beggar on the street and giving actual beggars money. I enjoy this much more than helping the big bad businesses make more money.

Personality: Charming, witty, and a smartass. Very intelligent, and is very persuasive. Extremely loyal and trustworthy to those who earn it, or to those who are in need of help. Brave, courageous, and enjoys to have fun.

Skills/abilities:
-Master Archer/Marksman: A natural gift. He would be taken to the shooting range every once in a while, and archery was very easy to him. Over the years it became second nature to him. He was born in the wrong era

-Hand-to-hand combat: In the couple years of being jobless he had a lot of time on his hands. He took classes, had his friends in low places teach him, and although he's not the best, he can take on a couple of people long enough to get away.

-Parkour: Easily can climb over fences and climb up to fire escapes. Can't scale skyscrapers, but he can escape tricky situations

-Tech Savvy: Everyone in this day and age is, right? Friends taught him the basics of hacking, but he can't do the hard core stuff.

-Acting skills: Another hidden talent. He has the ability to make accents, act like a beggar, a CEO, a foreigner, etc.

-Knows how to drive a Zamboni: He has had some crazy parties in the past...

Family/loved ones?: Father-- lost contact with him for years, Little John-- One of my closest friends, Friar Tuck-- A long time friend and a favorite person to give money to, Marian--In love with the woman, but she hates the old "Lawyer Robert"

Other: Has a few scars from gunshot wounds, falling off things, and broken glass

I gotta say, I'm a little skeptical—master marksman, parkour champion, great at unarmed combat and a lawyer at 25? Seems like a case of Batman Syndrome™ to me. I love the idea of a 21st century band of merry men, but maybe we could keep it a little closer to a real-world group of criminals?

Believe me, I'm the least likely person to make my guy OP in the RP. He can fight, he's a master marksman because he has that talent, and it's easy for him to climb walls. He's not the best at all of it, just like Robin Hood, he specializes in archery, and the rest give him a bit of a boost. Batman was at the peak of physical and mental perfection, my guy is far from that haha

And I never said he was a champ at any of it. But when you lose your job and get beat up by thugs, knowing they are the reason you no longer have a life, and you want to be a leader of a bunch of theives, it'll motivate ya to learn this stuff in a couple years haha

Its totally meant to be realistic, and modern, and I see where you're getting at, I changed a few things in my guy to make it what I intended.

Yeah, 25 seemed little young mostly because that's when most people would just become lawyers, right? Even for a young one. But now I really got nothing to say except that I'm working on my character. Might post a WIP here. I'm gonna be a little busy/travelling the next few days so it may be a while before I can finish it.

haha he had connections, he was smart, his parents were both lawyers, started to teach him and then went to school, that was my mind set. Again, I left some things unclear in my bio hahaha, I'm clearing some stuff up in my CS to not make myself sound perfect haha

Lol do what you gotta do. I know CS's don't always give the full story. Also, the more "perfect" your character, the more freedom I have to make mine more a of a badass

I'm definitely interested... I have a fondness for thieves.

Either thinking about an information broker who's a neutral party. Works for whoever profits her better. She could be a spy... but for which side?

That, or a fledgling young thief. Definite talent, but no formal training. Very quick, smart in specific areas, and has a tendency to crossdress. She'd be... I'm not sure how old. I'm thinking 17-18... Would that be ok?

Which would be better for the RP, though?

Someone who steals and sells info?

Or someone who is talented at thieving but lacks experience?

Hmm... Well, I would say not be a total "bad guy" because they will rarely get time to post, since this won't be a RP that will always be running and shooting and stealing, you know? If more people are Merry Men, then it'll give your character time to develop as the inexperienced but talented hacker

^_^; She's not a hacker. She'd be more apt to build a computer than break into one. I'll work on her, then. *goes to write*

havent written one of these for a while, lets see how this goes

Name: Aria Pendleton
Alias: Not yet created
Age: 25
Appearance:

Faction: Merrymen
Occupation: Waitress in a 60s Diner
Bio:
Aria would be expected to be the epitome of snobbery and arrogance. Her father being a rich CEO of a largely popular Technology corporation and her mother - Elizabeth Pendleton - being an extremely renown journalist with her articles on the working class being a plague on society and how the upper class and their wealth is the future. Her parents met on a chance occasion in the summer; where Aria's mother was studying the abnormal amounts of money that the corporation were producing. Of course, the methods of gaining this money wasn't entirely legal, not that it seemed to matter to Aria's mother. In fact, it drove her to dig deeper, entangle herself in the corruption of the vast amount of fortune that the CEOs of the business had, and so she met Aria's father: Oscar Pendleton.

They hadn't planned to have a child, it was quite ironic that the week before the revelation Elizabeth had written a very lengthy article for a newspaper that actually went viral across social media that consisted of Elizabeth describing how "unhealthy" children were on our society. Quite confidently she compared them to the likes of cancer and obesity. Anyway, Oscar and Elizabeth made sure they had this child entirely catered for and she wasn't going to be a horrific plague on their wondrous upper-classed lives. Aria was immediately enrolled in private school when she was of age, sent off overseas to a place in the north of England. In this time Aria rarely spoke to her parents, out of her own choice and her parents'. Little did Oscar or Elizabeth know, that this was the biggest mistake they could of made to shelter their perfect daughter from any suggestion of corruption within her family's lineage and business. Aria became strongly attached to a teacher of Economics and Business, who presented the evidence and the ideas to her that western corporations were just as corrupt as the ones that attempted to dominate and bribe in third world countries. This was the foundation of Aria's motivations, and her choice to join the Merry Men. Once she left private school she got a scholarship in Yale, and to her father's delight and her mother's distaste she took a course in Technology. This was a common case between Aria's parents, they lacked very much common ground at all and were always disagreeing - Aria could already identify that they were both married only for the status, money, and power that came alongside it.

Aria's study in Technology not only allowed her to understand how her father's business' Technology - the alpha-male of technology used nationwide - operated, but it also allowed her to work out how to manipulate it to work in her favor and against Oscar's. Of course, not all of this was part of the course, but it's the gifts that the course presented to Aria. When she was finally done with her studies and had returned to her family in Manhattan; her mother's journalistic abilities still came into play. She investigated Robert Locksley's father and how there were conspiracies that his cases were "fixed". Aria utilized her aptitude with technology to access emails, social media accounts, and bank accounts to declare this as true. This also allowed her to discover the ideas that Robert Locksley created after he was removed from his father's Law firm. Instead of being reached out to, she reached out to him.

Personality: "Geeky", can get easily carried away, at times inappropriate; very easily received as sarcastic or patronizing. Very opinionated.

Skills/abilities:
- Aptitude to Technology: Aria names this "Technological Seduction" rather than hacking, because of how brutal the word sounds. She likes to manipulate and influence technology to work in her favor, if this is accessing technology itself or bypassing firewalls on the Internet or retrieving passwords for social media and other internet accounts.
(Please note, I am not a real life hacker and I'm not of an age to understand hacking in its complexity. Forgive me if my description of the hacking process is lackluster at best, because I'm sure if I described it anymore than I will I'll just look ridiculous!)

Family/Loves Ones?:
Oscar Pendleton - Father
Elizabeth Pendleton - Mother
Robert Locksley - "Leader"

Name: Tyrone Tuck
Alias: Friar Tuck
Age: 42
Faction: Civilian (He isn't officially with the Merry Men, but he helps them when they need his help)
Occupation: The priest of a small church located near the Merry Men's hideout.
Bio: Tyrone "Friar" Tuck knew Robin before his change. Robin would always come to donate money to the poor box in Friar Tuck's church, confess his wrong doings, and ask Friar Tuck for advice. On a particularly cold night, Robin came to Friar Tuck's church. To his horror, Friar Tuck saw that Robin had been brutally beaten by the thugs sent to make sure that Robin lost the case. Robin told Friar tuck of his predicament and asked for advice. Friar Tuck told Robin to allow the lord to guide his heart and to do the right thing. And the right thing was what Robin did. The next time Friar Tuck saw Robin was when Robin came back to Friar Tuck's church, donated the profits of his first successful theft to the church's poor box, and confessed to stealing the money he had donated. From that day forward, Friar Tuck became involved in some of the Merry Men's less illegal activities,
Personality: Friar Tuck is a devout catholic and also holds a steadfast loyalty to Robin and his Merry Men. He worries for Robin's safety, but also believes that he is the city's last hope
Skills/abilities: Fluent in Latin, knows every word of the holy bible off by heart, is famous among the people who know of his existence for giving the best sermons a holy man can give, and has also picked up a through grounding in basic medical medical procedures due to the fact that he occasionally finds an injured Merry Man came to Tuck's church to hide from the police and is bleeding profusely.
Family/Loves Ones?: He has no family ones in NY city, they all moved away when things started turning bad. Friar Tuck stayed behind to help the poor and down trodden. Also, being a supporter of the Merry Men, any friend of Robin is a friend of Friar Tuck.
