Heck, Kyre could even be a potential parent, Since metalworking/smithing has a strong involvement in war after the stone age.

On that Note, I hope we don't rapidly shift into medieval fantasy style warfare as quickly as the last iteration did.

With magic being flung around I'm dubious as to the effectiveness of wooden clubs.

Considering Vestec has only created two, I don't know exactly how many really roam the planet right now.

Well, Teknall destroyed 3, while one assaulted Slough. And considering how far apart those incident were, I'd assume that there are more then a few.

Then again, that's just my thinking.

@Scarifar

So Niciel has not noticed the Ashlings roaming the world yet? You'd think with her wisps that she would, expecially since said wisp would likely have been attacked by one.

<,..,<

What Scarifar said, but also there is the fact that Vestec committed genocide against the wisps just after that.

Edit:

Oh, they're back.

But magic won't be getting thrown around just like that... Will it?

I guess it would make sense for this to happen.

Stone Age Person(SAP) meets Magic Stone Age Person(MSAP), SAP loses in fight or something, everyone becomes MSAP or tries to. Now, an army of MSAP probably would not exist, at least for a long time, so SAP develop to become Copper Age Person(CAP) and so on.

...While it perhaps isn't the best fit, Zephyrion could be one parent of a demigod of smithing. It also helps that he's possibly on the best terms with Teknall after they built the Celestial Citadel together.

I highly doubt that any deep understanding of magic will come in until the sentients actually develop the roles of scholars. For now I would imagine it being restricted to the odd ritual or shamanistic witch doctor.

@Skyrte

I look forward to seeing your sheet. Now that we have an actual idea of what your character would be like, I'm sure most of us will be much more receptive to having your demigod be a child of one of our characters.

Who have you asked so far?

Nobody yet, directly, kinda shy about it. Once I get the character sheet up, I'll maybe ask then.

All it takes is one god spending a Free Point to give a species (or ten) access to magic. Or just create a species that inherently has magic.

Is there some sort of Geneva Convention where we all agree not to let the mortals learn how to become a bunch of little Gandalfs? Has Vestec signed this pact?

You know, Gandalf sort of was part of a "wizard" species.

Even if there was such a pact and Vestec signed it, we all know he would be the first to break it.

"1 Might: Teaching your minions/worshippers/humanity powerful and unique skills/abilities"

I think magic falls under power skills/abilities, at least for those eighteen or so gods that don't have the Magic domain. Fortunately, the most magic-capable deities are the least inclined to creating civilizations.

Well, he hasn't signed the one regarding biological warfare. >_>

Anyway, yeah, my point was more that it would make sense for the impact of magic to scale with development of civilisations. Not necessarily in a one-to-one scaling, but I reckon it shouldn't be the equivalent of arming Ug with an assault rifle at the start of his history.

Give him some credit! It might be more chaotic to...keep his promises, surprising everyone and putting them all in a perpetual state of edge and restless paranoia! @Rtron Vestec should open up an ice cream shop one of these days, just for PR reasons. Everybody seems to dislike him for some reason!

Vizier Ventus' sheet is on my characters page, by the way.

Ah, I indeed remembered wrong. It seems a free point would work on a smaller scale, by creating a wand or some sort of magical item to give away.

The Freepoint can be used for relatively low-key things like teaching people a simple idea (e.g. agriculture, reading, writing, loyalty, honour, bronze-working etc.) or creating an item imbued with magical properties

...I will smack you.

He was one of the Maiar, lesser Ainur who entered Eä in the beginning of time, and serve one of the Valar in some shape or form.

That's like saying a queen bee is a 'Bee' species.

BAD. This should be common household knowledge!

I remembered that he was sent by the gods to watch over Middle Earth. I couldn't remember whether he was one of them or not. Also, I believe his kind actually were referred to as the Wizards.

I look at this and I slowly turn to look at the copy of the Silmarillion on my bookshelf. My goodness has it been a while since I heard a good nerdism about the Lord of the Rings.

His kind were called the Istari; it was an organization of Maiar sent by the Valar to thwart Sauron. And that's ONLY what Men called the Istari because Men are stupid like that.

All in favor of cutting Mardox till he reads the Simillarion?

I read the Simillarion a while back. My memory just happens to be crappy with details.
