Not exactly a big fan of Set If Off but this song is catchy as f**k. :P

(Man, there's so many great lyrical songs in general that its hard to pick one short line. X/)

Be ready for deceivers, they claim "I am the Christ!" but have no heart
Let rest the unbelievers who deny having a role, but they play their part. Return - Capital Lights

If this is salvation, I can show you the trembling.
You'll just have to trust me. I'm scared. Fin - Anberlin (literally the best song ever)

@Cynder
And the salt in my wounds isn't burning anymore than it used to
It's not that I don't feel the pain, it's just I'm not afraid of hurting anymore
And the blood in these veins isn't pumping any less than it ever has
And that's the hope I have, the only thing I know that's keeping me alive
- Last Hope, Paramore (The whole song's just inspirational, totally worth reading the full lyrics :3)

@SleepingSilence Omg, I love Why Worry! I'd love to list all the lyrics here but I'll just put one of my favourite parts:

Why do we insist,
On crossing bridges that do not exist?
Let's take these issues step by step by step to work it out,
Day by day by day we're fallin' down,
But life goes on...
I've got some questions!
Are you sick of feelin' sorry? (Uh-huh!)
And people sayin' not to worry? (Uh-huh!)
Sick of hearing this "hakuna matata" motto from people who won the lotto? We're not that lucky!
Have you noticed that you're breathing? (Uh-huh!)
Look around and count your blessings! (Uh-huh!)
If you're sick of all this stressin' and guessin', then I'm suggesting you turn this up and let 'em hear you sing it!

(I typed all of that from memory. So devoted to Set It Off <3)

"While the priest just sits and weeps, lamenting the fact that he can see darkness and light in so much detail, he has given himself over."

Mumford & Sons - Feel the Tide

Lord, it feels a bit wrong choosing this single line since the song talks about hope, but it's this one line that gives me hope through this song and not only the lines meant to give hope. It just reminds me to not give up on myself, whether or not I see too much details in the world.

And, @Cynder, I loved your game! Song lyrics are very important for me as well. I have a suggestion for another game, if you'd be interested: I, particularly, have the habit of collecting links between songs, even though they don't have real connections. But noticing a line in a song that answers perfectly a line in another song, or the feeling in general.

Like, the other day, a colleague send me Black - Pearl Jam:

"All the pictures have, all been washed in black,
tattooed everything...

All the love gone bad
Turned my world to black
Tattooed all I see, all that I am and all that I'll be... yeah..."

And I immediately remembered a song by Adam Levine (from Maroon 5) - Lost Stars, that goes like this:

"Don't you dare
Let our best memories bring you sorrow
Yesterday, I saw a lion kiss a deer

Turn the page
Maybe we'll find a brand new ending
When we're dancing in our tears"

So the idea for the game would be something like the above. Someone would post a piece of a lyric and someone else would post another piece of another song lyrics that sounds like a real reply. I understand if you're not interested, it's just a suggestion!

And, oh my Lord, @SouffleGirl123, Last Hope is an amazing song. That song is my spark!

That sounds very interesting, actually! I'm not sure I entirely understand how it works, but we can certainly turn it into a forum game of some sort. I think it's a wonderful way for us music junkies to share tastes and befriend one another. I'm also very nerdy about finding connections in songs, though it usually involves other media.

For example, I related "Oh, What A Life" by American Authors to "Catcher in The Rye" by JD Salinger somehow. Weird, I know.

Also, I'm glad you like my game. :)

I'm freaking out so much right now. I have no idea anyone else on the planet listened to Paradise Fears or had any idea who they even are!

I'm glad you liked my idea! I like to connect music with other things too, movies, series, books. It kind of adds meaning to everything, I think.

Explaining a little bit better about the idea, it could be something as simple as this:

Person 1 posts What's Up - 4 Non Blondes:

"And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream from the top of my lungs
What's going on?"

Person 2 posts Torn - Natalie Imbruglia/Ednaswap:

"There's nothing where he used to lie
My inspiration has run dry
That's what's goin' on
Nothing's right I'm torn"

And so on... Or something like that connection I posted on my previous comment between Pearl Jam's song and Adam Levine's. According to a quora user, the Pearl Jam song: "[...] is about how someone was everything to another at some point of time, but now it`s just faded memories and painful dreams. How they both gave all that they had in this, but now it doesn`t even matter as it`s all over." So as the person's memories have gone bad, "tattooing everything", making him think about that everywhere he looked and feel sad, I thought about Lost Stars' "Don't you dare let our best memories bring you sorrow". Does that make sense?
And I apologize for flooding your thread. Yes, I did like your game! It's always very nice to get to know different musics with good lyrics and this is a nice way to do so.

I think I sort of get it? Kiiind of? I'm a bit slow today because of rain and distraction from homework, so sincerest apologies. Either way, I support this for a forum game. And don't apologize for "flooding my thread", I always welcome the conversation and an opportunity to meet/befriend new people!

So, this isn't a modern song, but I find it a fun exercise in personifying things you'd never otherwise personify.

It's a British folksong about John Barleycorn, as in the crop.

There were three men came out of the west, their fortunes for to try
And these three men made a solemn vow
John Barleycorn must die
They've plowed, they've sown, they've harrowed him in
Threw clods upon his head
And these three men made a solemn vow
John Barleycorn was dead

They've let him lie for a very long time, 'til the rains from heaven did fall
And little Sir John sprung up his head and so amazed them all
They've let him stand 'til midsummer's day 'til he looked both pale and wan
And little Sir John's grown a long long beard and so become a man
They've hired men with their scythes so sharp to cut him off at the knee
They've rolled him and tied him by the way, serving him most barbarously
They've hired men with their sharp pitchforks who've pricked him to the heart
And the loader he has served him worse than that
For he's bound him to the cart

They've wheeled him around and around a field 'til they came onto a pond
And there they made a solemn oath on poor John Barleycorn
They've hired men with their crabtree sticks to cut him skin from bone
And the miller he has served him worse than that
For he's ground him between two stones

And little Sir John and the nut brown bowl and his brandy in the glass
And little Sir John and the nut brown bowl proved the strongest man at last
The huntsman he can't hunt the fox nor so loudly to blow his horn
And the tinker he can't mend kettle or pots without a little barleycorn

You're killing me, smalls Shorticus! With all these long songs! . . Wait, did you even want me to add this one? Or was this in response to Scar's game idea? Now I'm confusing myself.

Jesus Christ, imma just flood you with lyrics and let you add them in your own time XD
Notice my hands begin to twitch,
Unprovoked assaulting of my conscious wit!
Me and the TV are enemies,
Sickening static surrounds my mind!
I'm losing time, and realizing that,
After days of thought that I'm:
Stuck self-torturing; my meds are failing me,
Internal clock in smithereens,
Can't fix this, I'm hopeless!

My eyes are stapled open wide,
As I lay down on my side,
I am bouncing off these walls.
As I focus on the clock,
Time stands still, but I cannot!
I should strap myself in bed,
I guess I'll sleep when I am dead!
- I'll Sleep When I Am Dead, Set It Off
To un-explain the unforgivable,
Drain all the blood and give the kids a show!
By streetlight, this dark night,
A seance down below!
There's things that I have done,
You never, should ever know!
- How I Disappear, My Chemical Romance
There are survivors,
They're coming home.
They float in darkness,
They're not alone.
Now here they come,
Now here they come,
Now they will be received.
Louder Than Words, Les Friction
I'll return from darkness,
And I'll save your precious skin.
I will end your suffering,
And let the healing light come in.
Sent by forces beyond salvation...
There can be not one sensation...
- World On Fire, Les Friction
Champagne, cocaine, gasoline,
And most things inbetween,
I roam the city in a shopping cart!
A pack of camels and a smoke alarm!
This night is heating up,
Raise hell and turn it up,
Sayin' if you go on, you might pass out in a drainpipe.
Oh yeah!
Don't threaten me with a good time!
Don't Threaten Me With A Good Time, Panic! at the Disco
So here I am in the corner of a dark room,
The same way I began: alone,
With these mournful thoughts,
And a loaded gun in my hand.
This life's been hard,
And I can't see the sense in fighting it anymore.
Won't you let me go?
Won't you, show me the door?
Save Me, Globus
Long story short, I'm a tweenage British girl that has some weird-ass music sense. Also, listen to fucking EVERYTHING by Les Friction. Ciao (but probably not for long)! @Cynder
