Prologue: A Flash of Red
In the year 1997, a new Pokemon League Champion was crowned. By defeating the former champion Blue Oak, the Pokemon trainer RED became the new champion of Indigo Plateau, making him the de facto leader of all Pokemon-related activities in the Kanto and Johto regions. With his newfound political power, Red toppled the criminal organization Team Rocket, a gang of nefarious crooks who forced Pokemon to battle past their limits, killing them in the process. Such an offense was a crime in the Pokemon League, punishable by imprisonment and removal of trainer status. In a mad attempt to escape, GIOVANNI, leader of Team Rocket, released the monster MewTwo, a Pokemon so powerful that the very earth trembled at its might. Red was able to defeat and capture MewTwo, but GIOVANNI escaped.
Believing that Team Rocket was no more, Red decided to spend three years travelling the Hoenn and Sinnoh regions, training and meeting new people from the other Pokemon leagues. In the interim, Red left the Pokemon League in the hands of Lance, his second-in-command. When he returned, however, Red discovered that a former Team Rocket executive named Archer had re-formed Team Rocket and had taken over much of the Johto region. Try as he might, Red could not defeat the new Team Rocket on his own, and so he went into exile, vowing to never leave Mount Silver again.
He stayed there for nearly a year, until a trainer named Silver defeated the Pokemon League, becoming the new Champion. Silver defeated the new Team Rocket, capturing its executives and imprisoning them for their crimes. He then challenged Red. The battle between the two was a spectacle to behold, a battle so intense that the very mountain shook. In the end, Silver prevailed. Red, however, was so inspired by that epic battle that he decided to travel the rest of the Pokemon world, learning as much as he could and training to become a true Pokemon master.
Now, twenty years later, Pokemon Trainer Red has returned to the Kanto region to find that Team Rocket has once again re-emerged, this time under direct control of the sordid GIOVANNI. Red is once more Pokemon League Champion, having defeated the Elite Four and Silver without losing a single Pokemon. Determined now more than ever, Red has gathered a team of trainers from all across the Pokemon world to infiltrate the Team Rocket illegal Pokemon fighting gang and capture GIOVANNI, evil mastermind of Team Rocket…
Overview
Welcome to Pokemon: Pit Fighter, a darker turn on the classic Pokemon franchise. In this RP, the players will play as members of a group of lesser-known Pokemon trainers from around the Pokemon world. Their mission; infiltrate the Team Rocket Pokemon fighting syndicate, disguised as pit fighters. Pit fighters are trainers who push their Pokemon past the normal limits of battle, forcing them to fight one another to the death. While most trainers train their Pokemon to hold back some when they fight others so as not to kill an opposing Pokemon, pit fighters abuse their Pokemon and force them to fight as if they were wild animals. This training is often incredibly abusive, often involving starvation and torture. Team Rocket is in the business of stealing Pokemon and then conditioning them to be pit fighters.
The decisions that characters make will determine how effective the mission is. The more a character blends in with the other Rocket members, the more likely they are to get information, but at the price of their Pokemon’s love for them. Vice versa, a trainer who is merciful towards his opponents will make his Pokemon happy, but at the price of possibly being discovered. How this balance plays out will be crucial in formulating the direction of the plot. Will our agents get caught immediately and have to claw their way out, or will they kill and cheat their way whilst throwing away all of their integrity? You decide.
