♩ ♫ ♪Where words fail, music speaks. - Hans Christian Andersen.♩ ♫ ♪ ||name||Dominic "Dom" Chase Getty.
||age||26.
||gender||Male.
♩ ♫ ♪♩ ♫ ♪ ||appearance||Dominic isn't against acknowledging, to himself, that he's quite the looker. And he is. He shows that type of confidence in himself with the way he walks; he holds himself at his full 6'0 height, with a high chin and an inviting smile; perhaps growing up in an upper-class household insisted in giving him a proper posture at all times, that lets off an air of confidence and sureness in himself. Quite fit, Dominic obviously takes care of himself. He keeps up with his physique, at a healthy weight for his age and height, with defined muscles and a sturdy appearance to him. His skin tone usually falls under a more creamy color, though with the summer comes a dark tan since he spends a good chunk of time outdoors. A lack of blemishes and scars, the only immediately noticeable thing standing out on his skin is ink on his left arm. Dark brown hair that's soft and thick, it's longer in the back, brushing along the back of his neck, and shorter on the sides and in the front, giving him the ability to push his bangs back and out of the way, giving his hair a swept look.
Some days, he might add gel and take the time to style it properly, making sure it goes back and stays in place; other (read as: lazy) days, he'll just use his fingers and deal with the bangs falling forward and curling slightly in his face. He is almost always sporting facial hair that matches in color, usually thicker around his mouth and along his jawline, though sometimes, he might go clean-shaven. It more so depends on what's going at the medical supply company, if a big meeting is coming up or not, though he tries to not let that control his appearance too much, since he prefers facial hair over none. Underneath thick, dark eyebrows, are a pair of shocking blue eyes. A bright blue, almost icy, surrounded by short, dark eyelashes that often stand out in almost any setting, his most prominent feature for sure. A narrow nose that widens towards the bottom sits above pink, cupid bow's lips. A wide chin and jaw brings together a face that makes Dominic appear more masculine and strong.
While Dominic can be spotted in well-fitted suits with a wide range of ties - some questionable in their colors and designs - he prefers a more casual wear over the professional look. Outside of his work, he can be spotted in something extremely casual or a bit more high casual, depending on what's going on. His color scheme usually consists of more darker or neutral colors, though he does have a few bright pieces that are eye-catching. Naturally when he's going to be active, he's more prone to wearing gym shorts or loose sweats, with either a tank top or t-shirt, and always tennis shoes with earbuds usually shoved into his ears, music blaring. When going out, though, to either do a gig or hang out with a few friends, he wears more fitted clothing, with nicer jeans and a t-shirt; depending on the weather, he could wear a leather jacket or a nice, wool one, usually paired with boots. He usually sticks to t-shirts and jeans, and rarely goes from that, though for nicer occasions, he might wear a white button down with a few top buttons undone with a nice dress jacket over it, and black slacks, though he even manages to make that look casual with the way he carries himself. He can be seen in bigger, black-rimmed glasses when he has to read something, since he sort of needs them when having to look over any type of text. He can manage without them with a lot of squinting and holding the paper at different distances, but he attempts to keep his reading glasses on him at all times to avoid that act. The only time he looks like he works in an office setting, thus a professional environment, is when he's in it.
||background||Music has always been an outlet for Dominic, ever since he was a young child, and he'd convince his mother to sing him to sleep with a pretty great voice she rarely used. He grew up in a high-class environment, with an attentive mother and absent father, in Webster Groves, Missouri, an inner-ring suburb of St. Louis. While neither of his parents had an intense love for music, they saw it in their child, and decided to humor him. Each year, Dominic was in choir and band; when he was old enough, he was allowed to take guitar lessons and was beyond thrilled to get his very own acoustic for Christmas one year; they even took him to various concerts when one of his favorite bands or artists came through St. Louis. Dominic grew up being allowed to explore his love for everything music, always got things he asked for, even receiving a piano one year for his eighth birthday when he showed interest in it. That didn't change when, at fourteen, they moved to Nashville, Tennessee, for his father's work. His father worked within the medical supply world and still got a well-paying job at Metro Medical Supply company. Understandably, the only rough thing about the move had been leaving behind a known life, friends and familiarity, but it does teach a kid adaptability.
While his parents may have allowed him to explore his passion for music, it didn't mean they saw it as a future career. They made sure Dominic's grades never suffered, made sure to give him everything so he could be properly educated, to the point he had above average grades. While Dominic wanted a future in music, he had no one telling him it was possible to shoot solely for that dream. He only heard his parents telling him music was a hobby meant to be pursued on the side, and while he felt like it was more, he knew nothing but beyond what his parents taught and provided. So, he started to follow the path his parents chose; graduating high school and going to college with a business degree in mind. While in college, a "hip" little café often looked to young college students to perform on Saturday nights. Dominic had decided to try for a spot at the café and actually snagged one; his first gig happened when he was 18, at that café, and the live performance made him realize how much he really enjoyed playing guitar and singing. He kept with his major in business, but after a discussion with his parents, he began to minor in music.
From there, he kept up with the intimate gigs at the café, and after years of hard work and a couple failed romantic relationships, he graduated with a degree in both business and music. Shortly after, his father secured him a job as a medical sales rep, which Dominic didn't protest. It gave him the ability to control his own schedule to work around the gigs he kept on getting. It might have seemed like his parents didn't support him in his passion, but they truly did. They just wanted to be sure Dominic had a "steady" job while pursuing his dream and they managed to see that happen. Now, Dominic is fairly happy with his flexible job and small gigs. He just hopes he can hit it bigger soon, since the older he gets, the more he concentrates on his music, in fear he'll possibly miss his window.
||personality||Dominic comes off on more of the quiet and observant side of things; while his voice may not be heard that often, it doesn't mean he won't ever be heard, and it also doesn't mean everything that comes out of his mouth will be kind or sugar-coated. Dominic can be blunt and opinionated when he feels like it, though he only says his piece when he feels like it's needed, or he just wants a good, healthy debate. When that debate starts to wiggle into the territory of argumental, he'll smoothly deflect the possibly growing tension, being able to crack a couple jokes - sometimes even at his own expense but rarely at another's unless he knows them well enough - and to be able to just do the "agree to disagree" thing that usually chills out any tensed up people. In that way, he can be quite the charmer, having grown up in a more posh environment and giving him the ability to speak in a manner that's proper and pleasing. While it may be possible he can come off rude, when disagreeing with someone since some people just don't like a straight-forward attitude, he is actually a really kind gentleman that pays attention to others and does his best to actively listen.
Surprisingly to some, Dominic is quite the outdoorsy type; he enjoys the outside, the fresh air, the night sky, or even rainy days. He likes to get out, go on hikes or go biking; anything that involves the outdoors, and he'll more than likely enjoy it. He finds a certain peace in the outdoors he doesn't quite find indoors, and while music can put him at his most relaxed, the outdoors is a close second. Another thing one would quickly notice about Dominic is his humble attitude. He doesn't put himself down, he sees his own talent, but he also doesn't gloat or brag, nor does he get cocky when compliments are dished his way. He knows he's good, but he truly believes he isn't that great, and he knows there's always room for improvement. He's openly thankful, if not a little surprised at first, when someone compliments his music, or anything about himself, at that. While his parents cared for him, he never received the praise a child should have growing up, and getting compliments still shocks him to this day. It's just something he still isn't quite used too.
Dominic's longest running relationship was five months, which when one thought about it, isn't extremely long. Though, during that time, Dominic may have discovered a jealous streak within himself. Even in a couple other relationships, he had noticed he could get easily jealous over someone, though nothing extreme to the point he'd cause an issue within the relationship over it. Just a little normal jealousy, though he's quite confident in himself, so it doesn't stem from any insecurities. Maybe some possessiveness comes attached with that jealousy, though again, nothing extreme or detrimental to a relationship. When he's interested in someone though, he's definitely interested, and has no qualms about breaking his silence and flirting. He might not come out and immediately say he likes someone - that's where his blunt personality may waver - but he can be quite the flirt when he finds someone attractive, which can sometimes speak volumes in itself.
Anger and annoyance isn't something Dominic is quick to go too. He's more of a person who looks at something on all sides, sits back and listens, rather than jump to conclusions. He's quick to disagree on a matter, but in a calm fashion that rarely dictates a fight, but he isn't quick to grow openly mad at another. He might get a bit defensive, depending on the topic being discussed, but usually, he manages to keep his cool. It doesn't mean he's below being sarcastic at times, it usually slipping when he has had enough of something or someone. That's when annoyance might shine through. A sure way to anger Dominic even a little is to say something negative about his choices in life, or to hurt someone he cares about, or is growing to care about. He won't hesitate to stand up for himself or someone else if he thinks he has too, though he does understand others can stand up for themselves, and usually lets them if they're able. He will be someone's voice if they need it, though. Much like anger and annoyance, he isn't quick to getting upset or crying either; he might come off as more on the logical side of things to those he first meets, but he is more laid back and open with his emotions than that. That's not to say he won't get sad or worried over something; of course he does. But he does attempt, like with anything else, to step back and observe it rather than run with his emotions on a matter. One thing that Dominic keeps hidden is a secret romantic side; when he was in relationships, he was the type of guy to spoil his partner, though they always wanted more attention and time than he felt he was able to give at those moments. Now, he feels like he's at a place in his life where he's ready to give the proper attention and time to someone, able to devote more of himself, and he's honestly ready to try and "romance the hell outta someone."
||what they look for in a partner||Honestly, one of the things Dominic probably needs is a talker. Being more on the quiet side, Dominic quite enjoys hearing others talk about almost anything, especially when it's something they're passionate about since people tend to come alive during that. While it's easy to get Dominic to start spewing off the mouth when it comes to his passion, he may need someone who can coax him into speaking up more, even if it's a subconscious thing or just the person's overall presence. An ideal is someone who could sit down and openly enjoy his music, actively listen and offer healthy criticism and praise. Dominic may not realize it but having someone who can slightly push him to try a little harder in his music career, someone who can show him it's possible to pursue it more and make it in that life, would possibly help him quite a bit in his own life. One of Dominic's immediate wants, if asked what he wants in the ideal partner, would be someone who can relate to his passion and love in music, possibly even have it as their own passion and love.
||reason for joining show||Dominic's love life is practically non-existence at the moment. Dating was something he never put as much time into as he did with his studies and music. While the few times he had dated, he was a good boyfriend, and felt like he never put the relationship on the backburner, his love and passion for music was a distraction, so he never put as much stock into it as the other person would. He never saw it as a problem, the fact his longest running relationship lasted only five months; but now at twenty-six, he's seeing his friends married, having children, becoming growing families. He keeps having to hear his mother asking when he'll find someone to settle down with, and he's realizing he isn't getting any younger. Though, he was a little lost on how to jump back into the dating scene - especially after a few horrid blind dates - and discovered the new upcoming TV show, Love Survival. Not really believing he'd get accepted, he applied. Much to his surprise, he was accepted, and he is excited to see how this'll all turn out. And being on TV is kind of cool too.
||other||Can have a slight potty mouth depending on how much sleep he's running on and the topic being discussed; is a total Starbucks person; so far, has one tattoo on his left arm and certainly wants more; the instruments he can play are: guitar, acoustic and electric, piano, violin, flute, and the saxophone; has no pets but desires a small animal, preferably a caged pet; has the bad habit of chewing on the end of things, like a pen, the tip of his finger, or even a fork like a weirdo, so be careful what you hand this guy. ♩ ♫ ♪♩ ♫ ♪
