Ah power metal, so hit or miss for me. It was an okay song, singer has pipes and the instrumental work is kinda catchy.

Reviving the thread with some Opeth...

@Heat Ah, but not just a power metal band, Thee power metal band. ;P It's just that chorus man, it's infectious.

7/10 It's Opeth, so not surprising that I enjoyed it.

Early 2000's pop. When you could find more than a few mainstream artists that at least tried, those were the days. Nothing exactly groundbreaking but it IS pop.

Heard this song a few times, and was always pleasantly surprised when I heard the chorus. The way the guitar is employed, and even the lyrics, in part, almost make me want to call it pop-punk, but it definitely doesn't feel like the intent is there for it to be punk, and that A. I'm biased, and B. any punk elements that can be discerned are only evident from a creative choice that is purely stylistic in nature. Either way, I did enjoy being reminded that this song exists. 7.3/10.

Not a youtube link. Unfortunately, YouTube pretty much has this song on lockdown, so have a vimeo link instead. vimeo.com/148415421

@TheMadAsshatter Ah, good ole Rammstein. 7/10 I liked it, a little bit of a slowburner. I certainly think he has better songs.

Warning must like weird Japanese bullshit, metal and must need sense of humor. :P

I love the comedy and that's very gutsy of the front man to do that! I'm going to give it a 9/10 because I actually like it! I wasn't too surprised because I like Babymetal.

Oldie but goodie song below!

7/10 Fairly simple production, but it was enjoyable enough. I enjoy myself a little sax.

Not a big ambient fan, but Devin Townsend can basically do anything.

@SleepingSilence As you should know by now, I dig ambient, moody hymns, and this was pretty good. It had a vaguely noir aspect to it, which really hooked me on it. I wasn't quite paying attention to the lyrics, though. 7.8/10

I've been having a bit of a return to punk and pop-punk. I got hooked on this song a few years ago and still find a lot of enjoyment in the instrumentals and the overall melody. I could take or leave the lyrics, in all honesty.

@TheMadAsshatter its scary just how easily this genre can pull me back into my teenage years, I'm a huge fan of this genre so its hard to be objective. I'd say its a pretty standard song in terms of the melody, but the attitude and the feel of this song just makes me smile 8/10

@Dynamo Frokane I respect that you actually like simple plan. :3

4/10 The beat is interesting. (And might be good in the hands of different artists.) But the lyrics aren't particularly to my taste.

I'm just glad this band has another album. Giving me my nu-metal fix. (glue gun's aside.)

Not a big fan of nu-metal, but it's an alright track. Not a big fan of how drastic the change between ambiance and loudness is, though, nor am I much of a fan of the vocals/lyrics. 6/10.

And here's probably my favorite song by what I consider a sadly underrated band despite their position as a member of thrash metal's Big Four:

And here's the lyrics, if you're curious.

Out of the Big Four I'd probably rank Anthrax below Slayer and Metallica, but above Megadeth. As good as Dave Mustaine is at playing guitar, he should not be allowed near a microphone. Overall I like this track, nice and punchy with some proper break neck stuff in the middle. My main criticism would that its a little bloated, I prefer my Thrash trimmed down and this feels like it doesn't need that 6 minutes for this to still be a perfectly good song. Not a huge fan of some of the vocals (mainly the higher stuff) but that's a person thing, which vocalist is this? Because I seem to recall Anthrax have had quite a few?

Anyway, gonna give a solid 7/10.

And now for something completely different...

@GarlandDaHero Oh, come on now, "Stuck in my ways just like a glue gun," is a sign of lyrical genius. On a great musical scale I probably wouldn't rate the band much higher really. XP

6.75/10 (This is definitely a personal enjoyment rating vs quality or it probably be a 7.) The build up around 3:00 helps pick up the pace a bit but since I enjoy thrash metal feel's like I should of liked it more than I did. (maybe because I'm not fond of Robocop?) I have always wondered listening to some of the big 4's stuff if they really deserve that name...(especially later stuff.)

@Kassarock Beat me to the punch. *listening to yours* :I

6/10 It's decent, though I may check out the rest of their discography (I always need some oldies.) because it sort of feels like you gave me a filler track. Frankly most songs in any genre over the 5-6 minute mark need something extra or they'll usually feel bloated/dragged out.

Here's some weird shit I found during my 4 plus hour music binge yesterday. Hopefully you'll at least find it an interesting listen.

That was interesting. Not sure it was my kind of thing. It kinda feels like it's trying to be several things at once just because it can, and to my ears, it just kinda sounds like a mess. 5.5/10

@TheMadAsshatter Sort of the same feel I had first time I listened to it, but I dunno repeated listens really does make it come together a bit for a certain haunting mood. Lyrics are actually pretty decent on top of it. Haven't really listened to much else from them though, so can't say how quality that actual band is.

7.5/10 I've listened to several Pink Floyd songs, but I've never quite sat myself down and gave their albums a chance. I feel like I'm doing myself a disservice. Because they just make good sounding music. Though could do without the minute of filler at the end, would be obnoxious if I put this song on like youtube repeat or something.

The video screams hipster and the lyrics are full of cringe garbage. But the melody is so catchy and the vocals just do it for me. So would understand a low rating, but I got suckered into enjoying it alot. <.< (My teen self would probably be ashamed of liking something so shallow.)

You weren't kidding about the lyrics being cringeworthy, and, again, pop-y. Too much for me. It reminds me of House of Gold by Twenty One Pilots, and I don't like that song either. 4/10.

@TheMadAsshatter Aw, I like House Of Gold. (I can sort of see it.) Though that has much better lyrics and it a better band. Despite that they have a 50/50 album track record.

7/10 Good, I do prefer her 'the other side' album. Sort of cheating to rate a band I already enjoy, (though bleh on that new album) though they're pretty "poppy" as well. Just a different flavor, that being pop punk.

I'm cheating and posting the same band material again. Also, Okay that's it, I've been wasting my time with singles from this band. I need to give these albums a go already. >.>

@Altered Tundra 8.5/10 I liked that instrumental a lot. And I'm now listening to another track of theirs. (wasn't as good/good movie trailer music.) :P

Also yay, it's alive!

Been looking at a bunch of sites to try to find any music to like, and literally just found this. Hello, Tony Hawk Skateboarding music. (instantly fun/catchy and that's all you get and need.) Seems like I just a fun little album to kill some time. :D

Sorry I hadn't posted in a bit. I didn't want to keep sandwich-posting all the time.

FOR FUCK'S SAKE PEOPLE, THIS THREAD IS FANTASTIC!!!

Also, did you predict I would be back for this and treat me to this song? Sheeeit, that was fun, but also a jarring departure from having finished watching Angel Beats. I had to pull myself away from "OMFG, THAT ENDING!" to listen to that.

Sorry, going on a tangent. I liked the song. The beginning made me think it might be Ska, and it seems to still draw from that genre just a touch. Either way, it was fun to listen to. The speed of the song and the way the chorus is played is very in line with what I look for in punk. During the verses the instrumentals don't quite seem like they're at home in this song in comparison. Again, it draws a bit from Ska, and the song seems to flip flop between that and just all out pop-punk, which feels a bit weird when mixed together. Furthermore, while it certainly doesn't seem like it should be shorter or longer, I kinda wish it were a little longer. Just a small gripe, it doesn't lose a lot of points. Overall though, it's very enjoyable. 8.5/10

Now for some more!

Returning to the thread after some time; it's nice to see it active again!

@TheMadAsshatter I'm not particularly into pop punk, but if I'd still been in middle/high school and listened to this, I'd probably be all over it. It's not a bad song; it's catchy and upbeat. But it reminds me of my teenage years and similar bands I'd listen to, and that's a time in my life I'd rather not reflect on! I'm no expert, but it sounds pretty typical of its genre, especially the vocals: I swear, every pop punk frontman sounds like the same guy to me. It's a fun listen, though, and if I was still into the whole skate punk lifestyle, I'd probably be more enthusiastic about it.

I'll leave the thread with something a bit harsher; a pinch of black metal, spoonful of grind, dab of crust punk and you get Wørsen.
