@Not Fishing

I'd be more than happy to continue our GoT discussion (I don't get to geek out about it since I don't know many people who are into it T.T), but let's take to the PMs.

Also! I want to address another piece of lore. In this world, medicine is very, VERY affected by the presence of healing magic. A lot of times (specially in bigger cities) temples and hospitals/medical centers are basically the same thing. Most of the people that run temples are elementals and thus have access to healing through water and light. So it's common for someone who lives in the Royal City to go the temple when they're sick, to the area dedicated to these healing element gods.

In smaller villages though, there actually may be a separate temple and medical center. Keep in mind, the medical center will still mostly be run by religious water/light elementals. Villages that don't have these elementals are more likely to rely on herbalists and apothecaries.

@Tackytaff Their duties would likely be confined to the city, so at the very least it's not a priority as there's criminals operating closer to home to look out for. However, if they were fencing stolen goods in the Royal City itself, it would maybe be something to stamp down on, and even something for actual-terrible-guardsman Faolán to be involved in.

...which might also be of interest to @Thorn, too. What if, in the run up to the Festival, there was an effort to crack down on all this Definitely Illegal Activity? I'm not sure where I'm going with this, but there could definitely be a side-plot around here somewhere, assuming the characters aren't all busy finding their One True Heterosexual Love and making out in broom closets.

CSI: Orewyn.

Surely Faolan is too kind to arrest Rhys who's just trying to care for his father?

now a pirate may be an entirely different story... And Faolan doesn't need to know that Rhys is dealing with stolen pirate goods

Uh, oops? I mean he is an ex-pirate hunter, and kind of resource-less. Would he care about smuggling?

Darius could clean up those streets.

...if he was actually in a position of authority.

Did I ever mention that he has aspirations towards military command?

Turns out this entire RP has actually been a crime drama in disguise. Characters will not be matched into pairs, but instead sorted by lawful/chaotic. Veronica and Nora will be drug lords while Faolan, Edwyn, Boen and Elian try to track them down. You have all been bamboozled.

"Did you know that there has been a marked drop in thievery?"
"I did not know that... and how did you accomplish this marked drop in thievery?"
"Me and the lands rounded up all the known thieves."
"...for questioning?"
"Uh... no. Now it's just the unknown thieves we need to worry about."

Edit: should probably clarify - I'm not implying Darius would commit thief genocide. Just making a casual GoT reference that has to do with the overall topic of medieval crime solving.

Darius actually has really strong principles regarding authority and law. But he isn't exactly by the book either. Like, he wouldn't be lenient towards a noble who broke the law - if he actually had a say in the proceedings, he'd try to give them the same punishment a commoner would have received. At the same time, he would be lenient to someone - commoner or noble - who could prove they had a really good motive for their crime.

This is all based on the hypothetical and extremely unlikely scenario that Darius gets involved in law. Do Lords serve as judges for crimes that occur within their lands?

Is there a rough ETA on when we can expect to start seeing the pairings? I'm not asking to be pushy, I'm just pretty excited for y'alls RP and I'm eager to get started.

"With the kingdom badly damaged, the queen made the ultimate decision to rob the peasants of their money by raising taxes. The peasants grew enraged by this decision, and even more pressure was placed upon Laurelin to set things right when she became queen..."
Laurelin's Sheet

That doesn't actively say "insurrection subplot," but I sure do hope that's what it's implying.

Darius also be hiding in a corner like: "Criminals are a victim of circumstance, and yet at the same time they cannot be allowed to go unchecked, lest others be victimized as well."

Expect him to think (or say) of insightful things like that. How insightful depends entirely on what I can think of at the time.
