Since the race I would bring has a half completed NS that is already 56k characters with the same amount that needs to be added, I figured that I would bring just ONE person from that EU of mine to play. Well, more like one group since the only avaible single person would be a bit too advanced for this RP. However this small faction should contain mst of the flavor that my big NS had. Plus I feel like Sophrus will learn a lot from this. Or not. Anways this is all subject to change, plus it is filled with typos.

@6slyboy6 I wonder what 5% of 500 megatons of laser energy would do to your hull... :P

Mmh, well, I suppose I may need to figure out the loadout of an Ekaitz dreadnought before consulting threat levels

I do feel this is pretty overboard. I mean, the covenant is probably the strongest faction so far but it makes sense and allows us to take advantage of their arrogance and each faction has their own unique advantage. But this new faction seems to have the advantage in every category and seems it could easily be abused. Not trying to start anything or say that it will be abused but it does worry me.

@BKburke As a faction, the Gashathi ARE OP. There is no denying it. However, as I only have a singular ship and I can hardly produce any other big capitals for my cause, I want to strike a balance by making me a one-hit-wonder. There is no atom bunker to retreat to, no second fleet to help me. It's just one gigantic mothership between me and the cold vacuum of space. Basically I put all my eggs in one basket, and I'm flailing that absket around inside a hurricane whilst standing on top of a moving train.

@Starwhip Also, I just realised you meant 5% as the remaining damage. Lol sry its a bit late here. My shield in Star Wars terms is more of particle shield rather than a ray shield, some of the laser would be initially absorbed by the shield (but the shiled is primarily against kinetic attacks and not energy attacks), and the rest would be enough to cause damage to the hull. I would say around 10% of the initial power goes to wasee on the shield, but the remaining 5% yield of 22.5 megatons is still enough to melt a lot of plates together. But you have to take into consideration that the energy it regenerates will be fed back directly into the shield. So the longer your laser stays on target, the less damage it will do. Unless of course, it melts the plates so fast that they cease to function bfore powering the shield up. In which case, we are already talking about a death star laser firing at my ship, and not some random old destroyer or cruiser.

Edit: I am open to criticism. Weird things happen when you only take the desired half of a much bigger NS.

Well yeah, it's not some random cruiser, it's my dreadnought class. :P
Strongest dedicated combat design in Coalition active service. Not the largest, but the Aldeztaille supercarriers are only potentially superior in their greater accompaniment of fighters and bombers.

@6slyboy6 To be clear, I'm not suggesting my dreadnought class be able to core the Eternal Gem in a single battery (Although it might glass a small continent with one), but it could likely do more than just tickle.

@BKburke If we're concerned about things getting too powerful, a couple of us are sitting on "I-win buttons" ... or rather I hope other people have them. I have one called AMS Stardust that exists in a strange place: its fully fleshed out in how it exists in my lore, but it's not currently recognized as canon within said lore. I had no intent of calling it (or any other Imperial Navy reinforcements for that matter) but as the number of ludicrous-power factions grows, I'm glad I have it in my back pocket.

I consider the Alduur as a faction on the whole rather strong, but numerically most of the opposing forces have massive advantages and could win the war of attrition long-term. IC this is somewhat mitigated by only having a single tac-ops cruiser at my disposal: versatile, but on the whole weak. Course, The Covenant as an example is definitely something that instantly undermines the raw power I thought I had on the table. If we get too many of those then I need to trade my tac cruiser for a light carrier group or something! Still deciding if I consider that desirable or not. 50/50 on it. :P

@Starwhip 22.5 Megatons is no laughing matter. If that hits my ship then it's not gonna look pretty, even with the shields and armor. Still, the purpose of my ship is to be the single most powerful ship, since others have a lot of capital ships. In a 1v1 I think the Gem would probably win, since it's able to cripple systems in capital ships with relative ease, but it is not well equipped against a whole fleet. But why would anyone do something stupid like sending one ship against it haha.

@Sierra I haven't read your bio yet, but I can assure you thaz we all have powerplays in our pockets. That is, if we ever manage to get them. Technically, I'm not even accepted yet XD

Also technically my ship is considered a superweapon, but I really wouldn't call it that. It's more like a replacement of the home planet others have. Cause yknow, a planet is technically a superweapon as well.

@6slyboy6 accepted you are good to go

And since we are in the topic of super weapons Ill be the first to admit that I consider my faction a pretty strong one due to its starfleet. The standard capital ship is a mile long star destroyer thats designed to go toe to toe with any ships in its range.

The absolute peak however would be the Invincible which is suppose to be a super dreadnought that would smash even the exisiting executor class star dreadnoughts

Because of its sheer size and weaponry theres only one in existance, impossible to be "hidden" and more or less an answer to anyone who brought ultimate weapons of their own for example a Covenant super carrier.

Now because the ship has all these benefits i dont intend to spam it so that way anytime it makes an entrance its suppose to be meaningful

I'll go ahead and voice my concerns about power creeping, because I think we're beginning to see it. I'm even guilty of a little bit of it in the OOC banter. THe number of these "super-dreadnought-titan-doomstar-whatever" vessels is currently 3 now? I won't say that it has to be zero because that's completely unfair of me. I would say though that would you really dispatch the biggest thing in your fleet into a completely unknown situation like this? Realism aside, because realism is honestly boring, it presents the other problem of threatening by implication. Simply having a superweapon in an area is implicitly threatening because of just how much force you could project.

Now I see there's two camps that have begun to form. There's the people who probably or definitely have superweapons, but are choosing to play in a more clandestine fashion with smaller singular crafts and being covert. Then we've got the people who come straight in with the biggest ship they have as a personal transport essentially. I am partial to the former approach but I won't assert one is better than the other. I will however assert that the two are at odds with each other and don't interact well. Those people with the clandestine stealth approach are never in their right minds going to expose themselves to something that could vaporize them by looking at them funny.

As I stated, I am partial to the small, lone ship running quietly approach. I think its more interesting. I also have a multitude of bad experiences with the power games that come from starting off with ultra-dreadnought level scaling. At the very least, I think we need to take a moment and collectively have a discussion about exactly what we want this to be about. Do we intend to focus a bit more on the faction side of things as they throw fleets at anomalies, make alliances, and butt heads around uncharted worlds? Or would we rather focus on the personal stories of extraordinary characters as they brave the unknown and forge allies and enemies alike with no backup fleet coming to help them?

I would strongly argue for the personal stories, however I defer to the opinions of @DragonofTheWest and the group at large.

@Sierra Hey, let a man enjoy his personal dreadnought. The Gem took 8 years to build lorewise, and it was the flagship of the First Gashathi Armada for two decades. All that time Kindal'Q was in charge of it's maintenance, and even the construction of it's succesor.

I don't see any problem with powerful things as long as people can keep level head about them and approach the situation reasonably. And especially since this RP is not an NRP (at least it's not posted in that section), giving you a lifeline is very important. You could make a really cool bio only for your guy's ship to be blown up by a meteor swarm. Not very entertaining in my opinion.

And even thought I hate to voice this because people tend to be touchy about the subject, we should all trust each other to not exploit things or go overboard. Maybe some of us wants to win, whatever that means, but no one can really enjoy winning via a superweapon. Just like how you don't research atomic bombs in HOI4 because they are too good.

So yeah, I personally will use my ship as a homebase and not as a dreadnought. If I wanted to "win", I would get something more spectacular and interesting. But I chose to make that goddamn expansive list of aliens I bring with me, so you better goddamn beleive I'm about to use them.

@6slyboy6 I should clarify that the semi-rant post there is not explicitly about you. Bringing your 11km megaship in did prompt it (because as I said, we're up to 3 now I think) but it isn't the only appearance of these and I don't want it to be perceived as personal. It's a gripe I've sort of had with the Covenant but Rak mentioned at one point he was aware of this and was even considering scaling back a bit.

You mention nation-sim and I appreciate that. I think management of power disparity goes double for non-NRP sessions because you want everyone to interact with each other for sake of plot. I refer back to my point about people with modest assets available not wanting to go anywhere near a superweapon. We're here for a grand space opera story around our own ideas of hero/anti-hero and the factions & fleets behind them are foremost a catalyst for that story.

But anyway, its not at all anything personal. I do love what you're bringing to the table even if I would consider it a bit much. Its simply something I finally decided to get around to sharing.

If I engage the republic troops setting up defenses, can I kill them? I won't make it an easy fight but I wanted to ask for permission first.

I meant to go on a bit longer but i had a bit of an issue where i couldnt finish.

Anyways I just wanted to be clear that Im not opposed to people having their powerful ships and what not because I would be a hypocrite to deny such luxries. As gm Im trying to lead by example and avoid doing the things I think people would have issue with. Im also not above fault and I expect people to call me out if They think Im going to far.

Now as Ive indicated earlier this is not suppose to be a competition and im trusting in everyones ability to be civil and come to compromises if issues occur.

Now so far I think we are in a good spot and I think the differences in approaches that each faction has taken so far will level out as we progress further. The initial interactions are merely steps that will lead out to more complex storylines which we will probably discuss in the discord channel

Seeing as Dragon plugged the discord channel again and I know for a fact we don't have everyone in there (nor are half the people there nearly active enough), I will go ahead and toss up another link for people since the last did expire. Join now! This is a subsection of my personal server so there's a variety of other stuff that takes place on it. Everyone here gets a role to access the private channel in addition to any of the regular channels (come for the roleplay, stay for Factorio and Planetside 2?).

Ok. Just wondering. It wasn't specified how big the group seeting up was and I wasn't sure if there were more defenses inside the ruins themselves and such.
