This post heavily relies on the description in the ability of the "Overcity Shift" as it is described in the CYOA along with some creative input of my own, if anything in it clashes with how you imagined it then tell me. Otherwise, yeah. Mariette wants to check if she could find Justine's base of operations, should the time come to attack.

"But I digest" is entirely accurate but just hilarious to throw in in regular conversation. I might have to steal that.

I know it's still a word but the phrase is "But I digress," it refers to a change in topic. Using digest in the context of it meaning to understand something by period of reflection doesn't make sense if it's used to refer to something nearly instantaneously. Just plug in the definition to see if it fits.
"Haha, isn't that ironic, cause that's why I'm heading over there!" Scout chuckled as she slowed down to go behind Lily's motorcycle. "But I [understand after a period of reflection], if ya wanna really know if I am a magical girl, then lead the way."
Whereas if you plug in digress like the phrase normally does, it fits.
"Haha, isnt that ironic, cause thats why im heading over there!" Scout chuckled as she slowed down to go behind Lily's motorcycle. "But I [leave the main subject temporarily in speech or writing], if ya wanna really know if I am a magical girl, then lead the way."

Please don't it's hilarious like this. "I digest" is always true unless they don't have to eat and it makes it seem like a clever joke instead of a mistake and I love it.
