Yay for my first IC post from a nation's perspective in nearly 2 years. Sorry for it being a bit short, but as an introduction to a few characters, I feel like it serves decently well.

Also, I may be a bit rusty with writing in an RPs perspective, so if you feel like my attempts at conversation may not be the greatest or that I need to provide more to the story in my posts please tell me.

Don't worry about it. Your post is fine quality-wise. Some of the people here have been doing PoW for literally years so they've had a lot of practice, but don't compare yourself to that.

Okay, so about "New Ninevah". I figured that name is bland as dollar store oatmeal, so I did some digging. Assyrian is a harder language to dig info on, so I stole from Aramaic, which actually has a few mostly biblical translations you can piece together. What comes out of this scanty research isn't grammatical, and I wouldn't swear by it, but it feels better than "New Ninevah"

So first what I got is that the Aramaic rendering of Ninevah is "Ninawa". Starting there, we have...

Dakia Ninawa "Pure Ninevah"

Nihga Ninawa "Dawn Ninevah"

Zhara Ninawa "Glory Ninevah"

I used this shoddy dictionaryto come up with this shit, and wiki's info on the name Ninevah itself. If you can dig up something better, go for it. I just suggest a change like this to create the right ambience. English renderings for place names can get boring. Lord help us if I called my capital "New Flower"

All three of those sound about 100x better than New Nineveh so I'll go switch that up right now honestly.

Thanks.

Okay, so after some discussion amongst the old-timers, we've made a decision about how we are going to do PoW Future State
1: From now on, new players will be limited to being a Russian break off state until its been determined they can handle anything else
2: Everybody who wants to gets one free chance to move to Russia if they wish. If they take this, they're previous history will be wiped clean and they won't be able to move out unless its determined they are top level
3: European players are encouraged, but not required, to make that move. Excepting Wyrm, who really really shouldn't move
4: Aaron's gonna try to recruit talent to fill in some spaces.
5: If we fail to get a viable Europe by September, we're going to start the process of wiping some of Europe from the map

So, it is with a heavy heart that I relinquish the USA. I've been RPing as them for four years now, more like three if you count the time between PoWs, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I'm proud of the writing I did in the last game, and especially the writing in this game. I'm just ready for a change of pace, a change of culture, and a change of country. Having said that, here is my application for the next nation:

Nation
The Empire of Japan

Location

Credit goes to KGP for the history. It's concise and very well thought out, so I won't be changing it.

Key People:

Nobuhito -- 126th Emperor of Japan
Inaba Rai -- Prime Minister
Hakushaku (Count) Togai -- Powerful member of the Kazoku (Japanese Peerage), uncle of the Emperor.
Inspector Shinzo -- Kenpeitai commander in Korea.
Yasutake Miki -- Artist and propaganda film director.
Dokuro Abe -- Yakuza soldier.
Soo Jung Kim -- Korean student and political activist.
Danshaku (Baron) Kishimoto Nagumo -- IJN pilot ace, fighting Russian insurgents in Primosky Krai
Admiral Tanji "Tiger" Tanaka -- Commander-in-Chief, South China Fleet

As a special note, it's worth noting here that since 1960 is an election year in America we've given permission to Byrd to have some limited control in directing or discussing the course of American politics. OR at at least should someone take the reigns of America, he'll be there to give them some information. Or something like that.

What were your plans and how can we help negotiate them to elsewhere?

The plan was:

In the aftermath of the assassination of the Tsar, and the rather spectacular implosion of the Russian state, Generals Issa Pliyev, Andrey Yeryomenko, Vasiliy Chuikov and several others take command of the Russian Far Eastern Theatre's forces based around Vladivostok and Khabarovsk, and transform the area (by force in some instances) into the Commune of the Amur, a communist state in the Russian Far East with designs of eventually re-conquering Siberia and the Urals, eventually driving west and taking the capital areas in European Russia (probably not, but that's their ultimate goal).

Sadly, I was a muppet and didn't read Japan's NS, which claimed the Amur area for their own. So now, in a bit of limbo here.

Presently I've written how the territory from the Japanese border in Russia to the Urals is controlled by a confederacy of sorts of former Imperial Cossacks. The Chinese are in the very early stages of invading Siberia with the intent of planting their own communist government on the pretense they're going to get Outer Manchuria back once they get around to figure out how to tackle the Japanese.

The government they intend to put in place is to be built from an activist group of sorts headed by a defrocked Orthodox Priest named Dymtro Radek whose been trying to get the Chinese government to help out for a while, and now just got them to do the thing.

Hrm. This could be interesting - if you want, I could have it so that the Pliyev Troika instead flee to China, and then potentially offer themselves as another option for a government after the Siberian invasion has been completed? Pliyev, Yeryomenko and Chuikov are all pretty hard-line communists, and would likely retain the support of a fairly sizeable chunk of the Russian Far Eastern Theatre - I estimated that the Russian Far Eastern Theatre would probably have been made up of between 24 and 28 divisions (based on relatively similar Soviet ORBATs from the 1960s in the area) and therefore they would maybe have been able to retain the support of 70-80% of the men under their command.

However, this is all subject to your ideas for the region. I can work with whatever, or I can simply relocate elsewhere if necessary.

Given how the Bolsheviks were pretty much crushed before the uprising could happen, and that the February Revolution was prevented, probably helping to weaken the base of the Communist parties in the first place I doubt to begin with these figures would exist in this time-line. I would rather we work as little as possible with real life people.

Okay, that's fine, doesn't *have* to be those three generals in the first place, mind.

"Presently I've written how the territory from the Japanese border in Russia to the Urals is controlled by a confederacy of sorts of former Imperial Cossacks." That's quite a large state, and really cuts down on the area available to new players in the remains of Imperial Russia, unless you're fine with people carving out their own states from said nation?

I'll probably go for a state in and around Novosibirsk. Probably re-write the nation to make it more nationalist/populist rather than strongly left-wing.

I'd be fine with that too. I'm operating on the assumption that really all of what Siberia is is a whole lot of nothing. So it's a lot of geography to cover but not a whole lot of people to police. So if at some point in their occasional reigns of terror to clamp down on Communists or Socialists in the name of the Czar in Saint Petes alienates a larger community, than you can.

I'll have to dig up a few posts where they're relevant but I've done some briefing posts laying down a general idea for Siberia. But we can run on it not being complete information in the belief it's difficult to actually communicate across and through Siberia now.
