@Apocalypse I mean, could always be somewhat like Avatar: The Last Airbender, in that no Avatar was alive at the same time as another. We have, after all, been resurrected from another time. Why not our own times? There could be established 'eras' where we can fit into different roles - warlords and generals, philosophers and peacemakers, leaders and revolutionaries. A hero is defined by their feats, from drawing their weapon to stowing it away.

I mean, surely, some of our characters might've heard of each other.

Let's say X is a character and Y another character. X was a great emperor that brought the lands together. By the time Y is born, X has been dead for 200 years. Surely Y would've heard about him, right ?
That could be an interesting mechanic.

@Apocalypse Also, Y could have made some great advancement, and Z heard about that maybe a few decades after their death, and tried to emulate them. So when Z meets Y, we just get a fangirl/fanboy moment.
Oh, what if there were like heroes who were enemies of one another?!

I'm getting too deep into this, aren't I?

@CollectorOfMyst - That's an interesting idea! I ran something similar to this and yes, it turns into hero Y hearing about X and then Z knowing about both. Certainly something that everyone is free to play off of. Kind of like two heroes having been enemies once - maybe both kingdoms were neither in the wrong? Or perhaps one was manipulating one of the heroes. Very interesting!

Personally, I will be creating the first known legend of the "old world." Ancient enough that everyone knows the legend but probably thinks her more of a myth or fairytale than an actual person that existed in history. =3 In fact her own blade may be more recognizable than she is herself since it'll be something truly unique in the World. Just not decided if I'll call it Excalibur or Lionheart yet. Maybe Durandal or Save the Queen even (I'm a Final Fanatsy fan, lol).

Ah damn, I was just about to try and dibs creating the very earliest hero when I finished reading that last post. A real ancient, maybe even primordial sagey type, you know? The Gilgamesh style lovably arrogant one... Could they possibly have lived around the same time? Maybe even known of each other? Hell, maybe we could even have them have been rivals, or like you and Apocalypse said, straight up enemies!

Oh man, now I'm wondering if I should make him the 'demon king' or something like that!

We are getting quite a bit of interest here... there may need to be a player limit. I know some people don't make it past the Interest Check, but still, there shouldn't be more characters than can be handled.

@Lyla I agree with @CollectorOfMyst. My last RP, had this problem. I was so happy that people were finding my idea interesting that I accepted everyone and eventually, some of the more dedicated people of the roleplay simply left because there were too many.

Anyhow, it would be nice to see something like this :

X in an inventor and devises an early plan on how to make *insert invention here* (let's say gather electricity just for the sake of it) and then Y a lot of years later, invents automatons that work on electricity.
It's clear that when X will meet Y, there will be questions and fanboy/girl things.

I'm pretty much set on a master of martial arts, no armor, no weapons, no relics, only fists and the skill to batter anything 1v1. Just gotta choose what style of martial culture to take based on other characters, leaning either a greek type demigod hero or an absolutely ancient asian master.

@CollectorOfMyst & @Apocalypse - Let's get past the interest check first before we start fretting too much. ^.-

@Rabidporcupine - I'll have to really think about that. Just be prepared for a possible 'no.' Not saying there is a definite answer, but it's possible.

@Zero Hex - Be careful about absolute words like "anything" or "everything" (i.e. He can set everything on fire). As for other cultures, sure. The World's history will likely span millenniums.

Just a figure of speech but I get wanting to be careful about that, so no, I won't be trying to play One-Punchman if that's what you're thinking. The idea would still be someone who won't be massively nerfed/outclassed for not using spells/spell-like abilities or magic items, though.
