I'm pretty solid on a wizard type character who died young pulling off a last stand against some kind of powerful demonic threat, giving the world the time it needed to survive - not really an archmage type, more of a young, cocky guy with more power than wisdom who became a hero because he stepped up when history needed him to.

Hmm... now I'm thinking a kind of Medieval Noir detective. He specialized in solving crimes involving magic...

Yeah, I'd be fine with it. I'm gonna hold out hope though, because it can't hurt to try.

I think I'd like to write some sort of nature(y) heroine, but rather than the standard druid or ranger, a knight serving the natural order (or some nature deity), wearing some fancy oaken armor of a distinctly magical sort.

Just got teo ideas.

I'll make either a chaotic good-esqs hero. An assassin of evil.

Or

A diplomat with artifacts that will boost her innate persuasive skills.
Which one sounds more appealing to you guys / gals?

Alright, I've decided now that I'm definitely making a demon king who was just trying to protect his people from harm. Also, if he doesn't live in the same time period as Lyla's character, then god damn it, I'll put him right after, and make him the second oldest hero, because the heroes recognising each other from legends was my favourite part of Drifters, and I wanna be at the centre of it!

Damn straight! Drifters is great!

Also, sudden new idea, all my demon princes (yes, he's just a prince now, it's complicated) artifacts are musically based, because he uses ancient songs (songs I steal from Nier) to manipulate the world around him to his benefit. For example, he has a sword which, while the edges of the blade are normal, in the middle are a series of chimes, kind of like on a tamborine, which rattle whenever he hits it against anything.

@Rabidporcupine He's a song blade! Love that idea! Why in the world is he a "demon" prince though?

My idea.

I'm thinking of a character who was created by some type of mad-scientist or magician.

Created for nefarious purposes to aid the mad-scientist/magicians endeavors.

The creation was used as a weapon of evil for a long time and caused much pain and suffering to others.

Until finally, the creation broke free from its masters hold and managed to undo all the wrong that it's master had done, taking itself and it's creator to the grave in one final heroic sacrifice.

Cheers!

@Lyla You see what you've created? xD

Anyhow. I'm thinking about making a diplomat with a few artifacts that are making her more persuasive.

A cloak that does the following thing :

Ex: If A(my character) talks with B(an NPC or whatever) and A wants to feign interest in whatever B says, the cloak will multiply that making it more believable or if A wants to intimidate B, she will be more successful in doing that.

This is just an idea xD

@Lyla question: is it possible to play a "hero" who was only a hero to certain groups of people?

I'm thinking a Robin Hood-type character, a lovable rogue who rebelled against the aristocracy and was basically a champion of the lower class. Obviously this person wouldn't be so beloved by the people in power (and might even have been executed by them, which could play into a martyr-like legend).

@mercenarius Well. Any hero is subjected to that.

Look at superman. While he saves a lot of lives and all that, he also destroys with his powers. Buildings, debris etc.

Or. Look at the Punisher. He kills a lot of people. He is viewed as a hero but to some he is a villain.

Yeah that's fair.
The word "hero" is always subjective, but I was thinking more along the lines of someone whose legend is either that of a hero or villain depending on who's telling it.

Edit: I might have just rephrased what you already said, sorry about that. Still waking up xD

Is it more about having historical weight then?

I'd be super interested in playing some unsung hero. A nameless figure only whispered about or hardly mentioned despite their impact on the world.

I think I'd like my character to be around the middle in terms of time period, if that's alright. Not ancient history and modern enough that he can still comprehend the world, but a big part of what would he interesting would be him seeing his legacy and being recognized as an old story by these other larger than life figures. Living his own afterlife, if you would.

Well, because he's a demon. Like, with horns and stuff. When I say he's just trying to protect his people, those people are demons. Or you know, at least some kind of horned people who are generally viewed as evil by humans and the other 'good' races.
