I am somewhat encouraged that you haven't already pointed out any critical flaws in it. Although, I know that might just be because you haven't had the time to go through it in detail. Anyway... as you are, no doubt, well aware... I will welcome any thoughts on the subject at all, even if my idea is still too far off base.

Idea forming. Spider-web peeps make a floor trap, our dear Wolf Alpha killer can set maybe some basic traps. Anything else for hidden prep could be done.

Then lure trolls outside like the dumb lugs they are if they think its one or two goblins out there, and food is close, and then begin the chaos. XD

...eh, its a thought anywho.
