James Kingston

Location: The Mutant Underground (Floor 1)
Skills: Healing Factor

“Well good morning to you too.” James chuckled at Casper, relief replacing the worry when the man’s eyes opened and he shot James a playful comment. He had been concerned at first. Casper hadn’t been making a recovery but when he felt his own heartbeat speed up in response to Casper’s, he knew it would be okay. He sat back heavily, taking a few deep breaths as the work he just did hit him hard. James hadn’t used this aspect of his power much before these past few days and it was still a drain on him, especially on someone as injured as Casper had been.

His eyes shot over to Jack, where he’d collapsed on the ground. James pushed himself back on his knees, shuffling around to be across from Casper. “I don’t need money dude. I'll get him back on his feet, don't worry.” James waved off Casper’s offers, laying his hands on Jack. He could feel his own body protest how soon he was doing this and normally he’d take a breather but Casper was desperate and he didn’t know how bad off Jack was. If he was anything near his brother, James didn’t have the time to wait. He took a deep breath and let himself sync up with Jack’s vitals and pushed to heal him as well as he could.

Requiem

Location: The Hellfire Club (D3)
Skills: Vocal Hypnosis

Requiem clicked his tongue irritably as Max made his escape with the computer. Requiem didn’t particularly care to capture any of the remaining standing members―the invisible woman, Veil apparently thanks to the brat with the computer, would be enough to figure out why the hell they were here in the first place―but losing the computer would deal a critical blow to more than one aspect of the Hellfire Club and he couldn’t allow that to happen. He seethed inside, desperately interested in handling Glimpse now that her interference threatened a new plan involving the unconscious Emma Frost. How convenient would it be for their investigation if she woke up in a power dampened cell and Requiem was there to pick her brain? Her mental defenses were trivial details; thirst, hunger, and pain wore those down quickly enough.

“Ignore Veil and destroy the stolen computer.” Requiem demanded of Sapphire, Havok, and Glimpse, repeating it when it failed to take hold in the two women. Again, it failed to take and Requiem pursed his lips irritably, deciding that was a waste of time and instead prepared for someone to grab the unconscious woman. At least the most destructive of their little squad would deal with the thief.

Callie looked over towards Ice Queen for a moment so far two wanted to get out of the building before it collapsed on them all which she could easily understand as well. She sighed slightly and nodded it could still come down at any moment, before Negasonic decided to use her powers. And then the roof came off, covering her eyes slightly and then looked at everyone seemed to be fine now as she started to calm down now. When Blink said that the Morlocks were all taken to safety she nodded towards her at least they were in a safe location now as well, and stared at Vulcan wondering what else he knew.

"Other than they are rumored to exist, other than that nothing else. Seeing as we were both attacked at the same time as you guys were it wasn't a coincidence." Callie answered Blink, she didn't like that they were just attacked, and now they were all now out in the open as well. "We should head back to the first floor just to be on the safe side." Callie suggested, as she turned to face Colossus and walked over to take the small box of pills wondering what they were and gently patted Magik on the head before turning and making her way towards the stairs.

Luna Braddock - Glimpse

Location: Hellfire Club E3 -- Washington D.C.
Skills: Binding;

Havok returned to himself and Luna breathed a sigh of relief. There was a gunshot and her head swiveled in time to watch Veil sway and fall to the ground. Great. She blew out a breath and rolled her neck, looking back at Jinx as he started to prattle on. Luna clenched her left fist, shifted and delivered a punch that connected with his eye. She was hoping to break a nose or knock him out at least but this would suffice.

”Are you about done?” She stepped away from the man annoyed and looked towards Sapphire who created their only escape out of this mess. They had information thanks to Max. Luna wasn’t sure how much of it would be on the computer and after this, there would be no way Luna would be allowed back into the Hellfire Club for anything. Not even a cookie. ”You could check the filing cabinets but we have the hard drive from their computers.” She looked back towards Veil and started to move towards her. ”I’ve got Veil,” she stated. She was the closet one now anyways.

Cayden Proudstar - Moonwalker

Location: Mutant Underground -- Washington D.C.
Skills:

Cayden looked up at the open roof concept and grinned. ”That’ll work,” he complimented. ”Still want us to go on a scouting mission boss?” Cayden didn’t see a random, supposedly abandoned building with the roof suddenly gone being inconspicuous for very long. He looked over at the newcomers and listened to them talk about someone named Erg who had been killed and then this Hellfire Club kept popping up. Other than knowing Veil and that crew going to the Hellfire Club this morning, he didn’t know much about them. Perhaps something went wrong on the mission and that’s why these people showed up.
Cayden swallowed and looked around at everyone in the room again before looking at Spark Plug. He had to agree it was a good idea to get out of the open attic. Especially when they still hadn't a clue what was going on. "Want me to bring this one down?" Cayden pointed towards the tied up Vulcan. They couldn't just leave him there too. He had some interesting items on him and if he ever came too, they might by some miracle, get him to talk. As for the others not here still, Cayden seriously hoped nothing had gone wrong. He had just gotten here and wasn’t quite ready to have to move on.

Waverley Watts - Feedback

Location: Mutant Underground, Washington D.C. Station (Attic)
Skills:

Waverley gave a small nod when Callie told her to hold off on replying to the voices on the other side of the radio, letting out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding. If she was being honest with herself, her asking if Callie wanted her to reply to the mystery voices was just as much her way of divulging the fact that she could as it was asking if she should. She wanted to lay all her cards out onto the table, because she had no idea what to do with them on her own. Before she could make any sort of verbal reply, though, her attention was snatched by Negasonic, who gave a vague and cryptic warning before sprinting forwards. Waverley shielded her eyes as a bright flash filled the room, accompanied by the loud noise of roof-shattering. When Waverley pulled her arm away from her eyes, she immediately realized where that roof-shattering noise had come from: the shattering of the roof. Above her and her coworkers was an open night sky, a sight that caused Waverley's eyes to widen and a frown to take place on her face. Her wide eyes immediately dropped down to look at Negasonic.

"What the hell?!" she yelled out loudly, her brow furrowed in annoyance. Negasonic didn't even have to react for Waverley's annoyed expression to shift to one of fear as she sheepishly took a step back, casting her gaze to the ground. She opened her mouth back up to speak, and stuttered out a few silent vowels, perhaps in a failed attempt to apologize, before closing her mouth back up. She kept her head down as she crouched down to grab her rebar. Once she had it in her hand, she shuffled over to the wall right of the stairs where she had placed her backpack, picking it up and putting it on.

"As much as I'd like to know everything that's going on with this Hellfire Club and Murlocks and Frost International, we should really leave before police get here to figure out why the top of a long-abandoned warehouse just blew off in the middle of the night," as she spoke, she occasionally glanced up, her eyes prancing from person to person while avoiding Negasonic completely.

Sapphire

Location: Hellfire Club HQ E3 -> E1
Skills Hand to Hand Combat

"Don't you dare call me that Havok!" she snapped at him, getting more then slightly annoyed with him. After all, he picked a great time to make comments like that. "And I'll say this again, you make Storm Troopers seem like a good aim, you were essentially trying to kill us you do realize that right?" Sapphire said, shaking her head slightly. There however was one other thing she needed to mention, and she stared at him right in the eye, before she punched him in the face.

"That's to ensure you tell no one that I kissed you, or make some snide comment about it. Got it? You tell anyone and you are going to be so dead!" she said, before she punched him again. "That's to make sure that you aren't being mind controlled, and this last one is because I feel like it," Sapphire continued, before she punched him a third time and ended up knocking him out. Rolling her eyes she stood up and glanced over at Glimpse. "You better get her out of here, otherwise you'll wish you were the one who had gotten shot," she threatened, before she dragged Havok over towards the slide.

"Damn it, you are not light at all... Not to self, don't punch people until after we are to safety, otherwise you get stuck dragging their bodies around," she muttered, before she managed to send him down the ice slide, and she jumped on as well, sliding down it too.

Jack Theriot

Location: Mutant Underground First Floor

"And you people think I flirt with just about everyone," Jack muttered, chuckling slightly at his brother. "You don't have to worry about me Casper, I'm fine," he added, before suddenly the pain went away as James managed to heal him. He sat up slightly now, looking over at them now. "You two are a little obvious, I mean really... Kind of makes me feel a bit like a third wheel here, but whatever."

He moved his hand away from his brother, rolling his eyes slightly that usually it only seemed like Casper actually acted like the older one when he was injured or practically on his death bed. That was just the sort of thing that happened in their family, as the other two siblings were in a mental hospital. Jack was considered the "sane" one more or less, as his father wasn't Charles Xavier. That didn't mean he didn't have his own problems, just meant that he tended to hide his own problems. "So, the others I'm guessing are upstairs or something? What happened to you guys anyway?" Jack couldn't help but ask James.

Leighton Brooks

Location: The Mutant Underground (Attic)
Skills N/A

Leighton didn't understand why they were still standing around if they had injured people on top of losing the tunnels. She almost sided with Sunshine, though the girl continued to grate on whatever semblance of bonding she could have mustered. Of course she was sorry he was dead. He offered her a way out from being locked up or worse for being a mutant. He trained her and provided her with a group that could help her wherever she wanted to go. She was going to find out who sent the attack on them and make sure they paid with blood.

Negasonic mustered some more effort and ended up blowing the roof off the place. It would have been awesome had she not just gone through the effort of trying to keep it from toppling on top of them in the first place. "So that pretty much put my hard work to shame. Could have done that from the get-go and saved me the effort," she stated with no hiding of her annoyance. So much for teamwork eh?

She began to make her way to the stairs. "Let's get going then. The sooner we make sure the others are healed the sooner we can figure out a plan to take the Hellfire Club down. Whoever the hell they are."

Washington D.C.: September 9th, 2020 - 8:30 PM

The Penthouse...

Only Glimpse approached Veil and while Requiem was ready to shoot her, her enhanced speed allowed Britain's daughter to dodge the bullet. The bullet embedded itself harmlessly in the wall, while Glimpse managed to scoop up Veil and dash over towards the ice slide and down Sapphire's glacial contraption. Since Havok had been carried down by Sapphire and Max already left, the entire Mutant Underground had left the area. The morality manipulating wonder would slowly regain consciousness.

Emma Frost woke up as well, sadly too late to do anything about the invaders. However, rather than looking angry and hostile, she seemed almost... pleased. "Requiem, Jinx, get someone in here to clean up this mess," Emma ordered, as Glimpse's control over Jinx ended once she and Veil had gone down the ice slide. "Anastasia, darling, come with me. Oh and you two, once you've gotten someone to handle the mess, please see if you can figure out what those miscreants were looking for. Anastasia needs medical attention."

The White Queen then moved towards the elevator, using her telekinesis to elevate her protégé and allow Anastasia to float across the room to her. Once the elevator came, Emma took Anastasia to medical and started looking through the vials of blood until she found one labeled J. Howlett.

The Sidewalk...

Once down the ice slide, the Mutant Underground group will not be too far away from the car they took to get there. Someone must have called something in - probably the appearance of a massive ice slide and mutants going down it - as police sirens are coming closer rapidly. Even if they were to get into the car right now, it was going to be a bit of a high speed chase. They would also need to lose the cops and ensure that they didn't lead them back to the Mutant Underground Headquarters.

Of course, things are additionally complicated by the fact that both Havok and Veil are currently unconscious. If they could get Veil awake, at least she would be able to turn the group invisible and hide them from the cops.

The Attic...

Negasonic glared at Leighton for a moment. "Didn't you say that you couldn't hold onto the pillars very long, princess?" she snapped. "Besides, it wasn't like anyone here was actually getting a more permanent solution in place, so I dealt with it. You're welcome." Given that she was a snarky teenager staring down someone wearing what looked like designer clothes, she saw Leighton as entitled. It also didn't help that Negasonic rarely played nice with others, something that Colossus was constantly berating her on.

Without fail, his scolding came about a second or so later. "Negasonic!" he snapped. "Pick battles carefully - and remember, act with kindness." He still hadn't let go of his baby sister and by some stroke of luck, Magik had yet to stir. Vulcan however was beginning to show the signs of coming back to consciousness. Hopefully, the knot work on the ropes restraining him would hold.

"Whatever..." Negasonic muttered, rolling her eyes at him. "I'll go check our perimeter or something," she said, before noisily running down the staircase. If people glanced outside, they would see Negasonic emerge a few minutes later, muttering to herself and kicking at the ground as she walked.

Waverley would begin to hear a transmission coming through the airwaves: 10-80. Repeat, we have a 10-80 on Chestnut St. Requesting backup. Code 8. Once more, this is a 10-80 on Chestnut St. Now, she could use her powers to jam the signal and keep it from going through, but she would need to act fast. Another thing that she could try would be to send a message back to the officer, telling them to dismiss it, that it was just a demolition done by a construction company and it was already cleared.

Colossus looked at Moonwalker and gave him a nod. "Yes - please, after you," he said, motioning towards the stairs. Blink had already gone down the stairs after Callie. Sunshine rubbed her eyes with her sleeve again, sniffling a bit as she glanced around the room. She wanted to get justice for Erg. She wanted to kill as many Purifiers as it took, until somehow, he'd be brought back to life. Sure, she knew that it didn't work that way... but she didn't care.

"You mean take down the Purifiers," she corrected Leighton. They were the ones who had killed Erg - she had seen them with their Sentinel. The young blonde then went down the stairs as well, seeing as everyone else was going that way.

The First Floor...

Casper was incredibly relieved as James agreed to heal his brother, so much so that Casper gave him a kiss on the cheek. "My hero," he said with a grin. He was also very happy to hear that he wouldn't have to call his father and ask for money to pay for his brother's care. Every time he had to call up to his father in New York, Casper got a little bit closer to wanting to eat a bullet.

Blink had her arms crossed as she reached the first floor with Spark Plug. "So if it wasn't a coincidence, then the Hellfire Club is working with the Purifiers then?" she asked. "Is the Hellfire Club an anti-mutant hate group or something?" She hadn't ever heard of them before, but if they were some sort of rumored secret society, she could see them having the wealth and resources to supply the Purifiers with a sentinel. It also made sense for them to want to eliminate two of the biggest support groups for mutants in Washington D.C. - the Morlocks and the Mutant Underground.

Casper had pretty much shrugged off his brother's comments about feeling like a third wheel, more worried about what Blink had said. He knew about the Hellfire Club. They had been responsible for one of the biggest tragedies his father's friends had experienced - the Dark Phoenix. "The Hellfire Club isn't an anti-mutant hate group... They're rich and wealthy mutants who operate like the Illuminati, bent on taking over the world covertly..."

"Cassie, I know you don't want to but..."

"No, I am not going to call my dad to talk to him about this, Ben! Since when does he care anyways?!" Casper snapped at his friend, giving Ben so fierce a stare that if looks could kill, Ben would have died a second time.

"They nearly ended the world last time, right? They made Jean Grey go all nutso..."

"Well there's no danger of that - no Phoenix Force here for them to use!"

"Like the Phoenix Force is the only powerful thing in the world! And think, Cassie, isn't it a bit weird for them to be attacking mutants? They're mutants. You said so yourself."

Blink glanced at Jack, hoping that he would give some sort of translation as to what Casper was babbling on about. "Okay, slow down... If that's true, then none of this makes any sense. The Morlocks, we're nonviolent. We don't do confrontation of any kind - just sorta mind our own business. So if this Hellfire Club is teaming up with the Purifiers, then... why the hell would they want us gone?"

Sunshine then came out on the first floor, as did Colossus with Magik. "Stretch - is good to see you."

Why couldn’t Sapphire not hit her? Why did Havok have to continue the instigation? What the heck were their powers? They hardly seemed like they did much fighting, one had a gun, another looked like he did nothing at all, there was obviously a telekinetic bitch who threw me out the window...This is all just one big mess. At least there was something that came out of this. Thoughts raced through Max’s mind as the cold still nipped at his butt and shoulders as he continued to make his way towards the car. He hadn’t noticed any shifting on the drive here, so if it was indeed an automatic then he could attempt to drive it back to the slide and quickly pick everyone up. First things first though, dropping this computer into the car so he had his hands free to fight.

Max’s fingers began to hurt at the joints, the corners of the shell cutting into the skin from the weight and how long he had been holding it. He finally made it towards the car, placing the computer down onto the ground and wiping some sweat off his brow from the battle and heat beforehand. He went for the door and it was locked. Ofcourse it was locked. Why wouldn’t it be? He blew some air up to move a tuft of hair that had fallen in front of his brow, growing increasingly annoyed at the situation. This wasn’t at all how he thought an X-men like group would behave, nor how he expected his first mission to go. Sirens could be heard in the distance and dread began to sink in with every passing moment. All he could do was hold out hope that Sapphire and the rest made it out safely and that they would meet up with him soon to leave before an all out chase ensued.

As the bind released and his muscles relaxed from Glimpses hold, they soon found themselves tensing up again out of rage and frustration. Never in all his years had he been so humiliated. That woman was going to pay dearly for what she had done, and he would target each and every loved one until she got the point. Bubblegum pink energy began to crackle around his fist, popping and crackling as if it were a Tesla coil. Jinx gritted his teeth as he released his frustrations with a loud angry grunt, launching a bolt of energy towards one of the few remaining glass panes on the balcony, shattering it and then facing the elevator. ”They can clean that up to!” He wasnt fond of being mentally played with, and needed Casper now more than ever. As he made his way towards the elevator he finally decided to call the man, seething with every ring of the phone. Jinx took the lift the a lower floor where he knew there would be some workers, such as the second floor.

The doors opened up Jinx stepped out into the room clearing his throat before yelling out ”Someone better make their damned way upstairs STAT! There’s a hell of a mess and I’m NOT going to be cleaning that shit up! Do you understand?!” He didn’t bother to wait for a response from anyone, nor cared to see their reactions. Just a swift walk in to yell at them and then he promptly made his way back to the elevator. He still had the phone pressed to his ear as he made his way up to the club where the fight had happened and held it up with his shoulder while placing his hands on his hip and just surveyed the mess before him. How was anyone supposed to get any work done around here with such interruptions from both Emma and now these pipsqueaks that believe themselves spies. It was aggravating and annoying and why the hell was Casper taking so long to respond?!

He returned Casper’s grin at the comment, ignoring the faint burning in his ears between Jack’s comment and Casper’s kiss, but he refocused on Jack’s question. Two people did just appear and try to bring a building down on them. They had to do something about safeguarding this place or moving since someone clearly knew where they were and from what James understood that was opposite to the idea of an underground, especially ones that harbored mutants. “Two randoms popped up and went full on kill mode. A guy start blasting the support pillars and the woman pulled out some sort of weapon and rushed Colossus. We knocked them both out but not without some pretty bad structural damage. They popped up just after Feedback got a message about the tunnels with her power.”

James listened to the conversation quietly as the others discussed motives and such, or at least that’s what he thought they were discussing. He took the opportunity to sit back and take a moment to catch his breath. Putting everything he could into piecing two people back together, one of them more dead than not, was a big drain so he was admittedly relieved when people started talking about this disaster. Even if he was confused. Hellfire Club? Phoenix Force? He had absolutely no idea what any of those were and he wasn’t sure if he should ask for clarification. They needed to figure out how they wanted to handle the situation first before anything else. “Well, speculating about it won’t help but we do have two people who were involved. I could wake one of them up so we can ask them a few questions if you want? That way we could at least find out how they found this place so we can safeguard against it again.”

Requiem

Location: The Hellfire Club
Skills: N/A

Requiem watched, or attempted to, as Glimpse vanished down the ice. He noted where his bullet sat comfortably in the wall with little more than a furrow in his brow, taking a moment to wipe down the gun with a cloth and store it safely back in its holster. He watched Jinx apathetically as the child threw a tantrum and shook his head. Getting upset about what just happened would only make his job that much harder. Requiem settled back in his spot, taking advantage of the quiet Jinx’s absence left him with. The entire room was in shambles, scorch marks and shattered glass everywhere. He fiddled with his rings but was brought back to reality from his zoning as his habitual movement made his hands sting. He needed to deal with that.

Requiem stood, wincing as he leaned on his cane, and made his way to the restroom since the thief had the indecency to damage the bar. He got the water running, barely a few degrees under lukewarm, and stared absently at the running water. Recovering the computer was a high priority now but the Sentinel was also an issue. He still didn’t trust Shaw over all this. Regardless of who from the top was involved, Requiem knew if he wasn’t careful then they’d be sacrificed without a second thought. He’d have to start working on a stronger foundation soon but he had to make sure that the computer got back under their control. They had a line however. All they needed to do was figure out Glimpses assignment and they could follow her back to the source. He sighed loudly in exasperation as the heat slowly subsided from his hands.

That meant dealing with Ms. Frost again.

Location: Mutant Underground DC Station
Skills: Empathy

Callie looked over at Cayden and nodded towards him. "Take him down with us, I don't want him to suddenly wake up and go all trigger happy again." She said as she looked over towards Sunshine for a moment using her empathic power, to get a sense on what she was feeling angry, sad, and vulnerable. She didn't know the kid to well, but she would at least try and calm her down when things were much calmer, and maybe talk to her. Knowing that the Purifiers had taken the Morlock's home from them in the first place as well, once she was on the first floor again Callie set the walkie keycard and small bottle of almost empty pills on the table.

Callie looked towards Blink. "All I know is that they are kind of like the boogie men nothing else, but it's not a coincidence that they hit us just as the Purifiers hit you guys." She said with a slight shrug and stared at Casper who was both giving information but also sounded like he was talking to himself as well. And started to think a little bit since the Murlocks were pretty much harmless, looking over at Blink. "How big were the tunnels in the DC area anyway?" Callie wasn't really sure why they attacked them. "If the tunnels are big maybe they are planning on expanding?"

Luna Braddock - Glimpse

Location: Hellfire Club ---> Sidewalk -- Washington D.C.
Skills: Enhanced Speed;

Luna ignored Sapphire, having already moved to grab onto Veil. The gun firing at her was a bit unexpected but Luna was already moving quickly, she was able to easily dodge the bullet and pick up Veil. She was already running for the exit before anyone else to get down the ice slide. She reached the sidewalk after Max and quickly moved towards the car. The sirens were drawing closer, Luna was estimating thirty seconds but she had no real knowledge in the area and was simply guessing. ”Max, check her pockets,” Luna said. She wasn’t willing to put Veil down and he had already emptied his hands of the computer. Thankfully they at least had that. Luna glanced back at the ice slide, waiting for the others to join them. She was not looking forward to all the yelling that would surely occur at her expense. At the very least Luna had some yelling of her own she wanted to do.
”The computer didn’t sustain any damage did it?” She looked back at Max while waiting for him to pilfer Veil’s pockets. If she didn’t have the keys than Sapphire would since she had been driving. They just had to wait for her. They didn’t wait long and Havok came down, unconscious followed by Sapphire. Up above another window shattered and Luna shifted instinctively. She turned her back to the building, blocking Veil but when Luna looked back it was simply a window shattering. She relaxed, looking back at Sapphire. ”Do you have the keys?”

Cayden shuffled his feet, looking down at them when Waverly yelled and then Negasonic reacted. It seemed the only one to calm her down remotely was Colossus though. He looked up in time to watch Negasonic leave and debated following her. He looked up at the open roof and decided on staying put. Spark Plug headed down the stairs with Blink after confirming to grab Vulcan. Cayden moved over to do the that when Vulcan started to stir. ”Oh good. There are several people who I think would like a word with you,” Cayden stated. He walked over to the mop headed man and scooped him up with little strain. He grabbed onto the man’s arms from behind and pushed him forward. ”How do you keep your hair so smooth and silky like that? Do you use a leave-in conditioner or something?” Truly, it was amazing how majestic his hair was. Like a lion’s mane.
Cayden managed to get the man down the stairs and stood beside Spark Plug with him. He wasn’t certain how well this interrogation would go. Of course there was something Cayden could do to help it out if it they didn’t yield any information from him when awake but Cayden didn’t want to offer that right away. He wasn’t a fan of Dreamwalking, although his grandmother thought it an incredible gift. ”Look who woke up! Perhaps he wants to talk now.”

Waverley Watts - Feedback

Location: Mutant Underground, Washington D.C. Station (Attic)
Skills:Radio Wave Interpretation and Manipulation, Police Code Knowledge

Waverley's tense shoulders seemed to relax when Negasonic didn't react to her uncharacteristic yell. She still avoided making eye contact with the girl as best she could, though her face was less worrisome than it previously had been. Her eyes flicked up as she watched Spark Plug and the long-haired young man, the name of whom she hadn't got, walk down towards the stairs. She stepped forward and around the corner to follow them, but was stopped right before she passed the stylish ice girl by a transmission ringing in her head.

10-80. Repeat, we have a 10-80 on Chestnut St. Requesting backup. Code 8. Once more, this is a 10-80 on Chestnut St.

Waverley audibly gulped in an almost cartoonish manner as her eyebrows furrowed in concern. She slowly reached her left hand up to her head, lightly placing her fingers on the side of her head as she looked down at the first stair, eyes glued on it as she got her mind to focus.

10-19, everything's under control. Just some night time construction, nothing to worry about.

Waverley kept her focus until she got a confirmation from the officer on the other end, at which point she let out a deep breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding. She perked her head back up, a relieved smile on her lips as she turned around.

"Police shouldn't be a problem! I called them off," She called out to everyone left in the attic, though her smile faltered when she realized 'everyone left in the attic' consisted of Leighton and Leighton alone. Her lips slipped into a small frown for a moment, before turning back upward in a small, relieved smile. She turned back around, beginning her own descent down the staircase.

Leighton Brooks

Location: The Mutant Underground (Attic) -> First Floor
Skills N/A

Leighton ignored Negasonic's outburst. Regardless of the methods, she still acted irrationally. It could have been saved. Now they had no base of operations. She stormed off downstairs. Sunshine's comment intrigued her, but she could not blame the young girl who seemed pissed off. "No, I meant what I said. The Hellfire Club. The Purifiers. Anyone who stands in my way I will see dead. That includes you."

Once downstairs, she checked to see if Casper was all right. When it appeared that James had done good work on healing him, she saw that the guy she kicked was waking up. She walked over to him. "Who orchestrated this attack? You're outnumbered, powers be damned." She was about to freeze him as a torture method and thought against it. As angry as she was, this was not who she was or wanted to be. She needed to calm down. So she backed off a step to allow others in, in case they wanted their own questions asked.

Anastasia Reinhardt

Location: Hellfire HQ
Skills N/A

Anastasia woke up disoriented, but alive. She felt sore inside, but it wasn't the worst feeling and one she didn't expect. She looked and saw she was still at Hellfire HQ, but she was somewhere else. Somewhere with a lot of light as she laid on the table. Glancing around, she saw Emma Frost there. It seems the woman had brought her to get medical help. For that, she had her thanks. She still didn't trust the woman fully, but this was a step towards it.

She clenched her fists when she remembered what happened. The attack on their base. The idiotic team and how they all...stuck together. No, she remembered. There was some animosity there. She noticed it. One trigger of morality and it crumbled. Good. Very good. Excellent really. It meant they weren't as strong as maybe they liked to believe.

She slowly sat up, clutching her stomach where the ice shard had gone in. She stared at Emma. "I am going to enjoy killing them. One by one. Any idea who they were?"

Sapphire

Location: Outside
Skills N/A

Sapphire continued dragging Havok along once they reached the bottom of the slide, and she pulled him over to the car as she also pulled the keys out of her pocket. Unlocking the car, she managed to get Havok into the back seat and looked over at the others. "Get in the car, try and wake Veil up, if not we might have to go rooftop jumping," she said, not explaining what it was that she meant by that. She hoped that they didn't have to do that, as it could end horribly if it didn't work.

She hopped into the driver's seat of the car, and looked at everyone else, "Now come on, we've got to burn rubber and get the hell out of here." Once everyone had gotten into the car, she glanced over at where they had Veil, and was really hoping that they could wake her up, but in case they didn't, she had a backup plan. It wasn't that good of a plan, and could end horribly, but it was a plan nonetheless, and she rolled down the driver's side window in order to prepare in case they did need her backup plan. Once everyone was inside the car, she fired up the engine and slammed her foot onto the accelerator, the car taking off and she was hoping that they didn't have to deal with the police too much.

Jack Theriot

Location: Mutant Underground First Floor
Skills: N/A

Jack listened to what his brother said, and his mind started going through what he knew about all of that stuff. Since it didn't have too much to do with his actual family (after all, not like Xavier was his father thank god) he did know some stuff about the Dark Phoenix thing. "The Dark Phoenix incident, it wasn't exactly the best, and I heard that Jean Grey's mind was messed with in order to take her down that road. If they were essentially able to manipulate a telepath of that level, then they aren't good news at all..."

He then turned to look at Blink. "You get used to him talking to himself, well, okay, he's not actually talking to himself... He's talking to the ghost of his friend who died years back... As for why they'd target the Morlocks, I have a hunch... The original Mutant Massacre that happened in New York was because Sinister didn't believe that the Morlocks were worthy, many of them disfigured in some form, so that's why he sent the Marauders to try and kill them all... I wouldn't be surprised if that was the same reason that the Hellfire Club would send the Purifiers after us, probably for very similar reasons..."

He glanced over, hearing Colossus' voice, and saw that he had his sister with him, and he couldn't help but smile slightly at that. Yes, a lot of bad things had happened in a short period of time, but here was one good thing that did seem to happen. Colossus had found his sister, and that was something. "Hey there Colossus, I see you found your sister, that's great!"

Washington D.C.: September 9th, 2020 - 8:40 PM

Medical...

Emma Frost prepared an intravenous therapy line for Anastasia, preparing a drip of Wolverine's blood. The Hellfire Club was hardly the only organization in the world to have some of Logan's blood, especially given the extensive tests done on him in the Weapon X era, yet they were one of the few to use it for its healing properties. Inserting the line, the blood flowed down into Anastasia's veins and rapidly, her wounds began to heal themselves. "Do not fret, my dear, you won't grow claws - though I have no doubt you would make good use of them."

The White Queen took a seat down next to Anastasia's bedside, locking the doors with a flick of her wrist. Medical at the Hellfire Club Headquarters did not have soundproof walls, yet at the very least she could prevent them from being disturbed. Unlike with Requiem and Jinx, Emma had faith in her young protégé. "Our attackers were members of an organization called the Mutant Underground..." she paused, her eyes flickering towards the door. It was not safe to say this next part verbally, so she opted to speak to Anastasia telepathically.

"We are not going to kill them. Our plans for ascendancy... They require that the Black King falls. We cannot openly move against him, it would be suicidal - so Reeva and I have been subtly pulling the strings of the Mutant Underground, raising them for the slaughter... We need you to continue with your objective and once we leak the information to their spy, you will be spirited away and when we return, we will reign." She then telepathically brushed some hair out of Anastasia's face. "Your wounds should heal within the next few moments. I imagine you have more questions."

The Second Floor...

The kitchen staff stared at Jinx for a moment. The head chef narrowed his eyes slightly and the rest looked at him for a cue as to what to do. Jinx wasn't one of the leaders of the Hellfire Club, so they weren't certain whether or not they could just brush aside his demands. "Of course," the chef said with a fake smile. Once Jinx had gotten back in the elevator though and the doors shut, the chef motioned for his staff to come closer to him.

"Next time he orders food, add in feces or piss," the chef whispered. "And then spit on it for good measure." And unfortunately for Jinx, his phone call went to voicemail again. Casper wasn't answering his phone - at this rate, it was safe to assume that the drug addict was probably busy or had lost the thing.

"I wanted to just throw a tomato at him..." one of the younger workers grumbled.

The Penthouse...

Another thought would occur to Requiem - Glimpse's connection was to Sebastian Shaw. She had come there looking for the Black King. If he did not want to approach the White Queen about all of this, he could simply ask Shaw what Glimpse might have been looking into. It would at least be helpful to contextualize her actions, knowing more about her relationship with him and where she fell morality wise.

The Road...

Max was right - this wasn't how an X-Men like group behaved, for the simple reason that the Mutant Underground was not a superhero team. This was the first time they had ever done a mission beyond protecting mutants from being caught by the police or purifiers. They weren't professional heroes - they were essentially volunteers, trying to make a difference. Sure, some of them did have a background in superheroics (such as Colossus, Havok, and Sapphire) but most did not. Everyone and everything (including the computer) would be loaded into the car by the time that Sapphire got it running and it wasn't a moment too soon. Just as Sapphire floored it, the cops came into view, their sirens blaring as they began a high speed chase.

Havok was still unconscious, but Veil started to move her head slightly and slowly, she opened her eyes. "What the crap is going on?" she asked, a bit dazed and not realizing that they were being chased by the cops. The police cars hadn't managed to close the gap quite yet, but it would only be a matter of time. They were built to go at higher speeds than the car the Mutant Underground was using.

Thanks to Feedback, they didn't need to worry about the police coming and finding them, but they would need to relocate eventually. The building was not at risk of collapsing but their location was compromised. Mutant Underground protocol stipulated that since the threat was contained, they should wait until Veil and her team returned to the hideout. They would then move as many mutants as they could along the Mutant Underground network, before establishing a new hideout with those remaining behind to run the station.

Outside, all was well as Negasonic policed the perimeter. No one seemed to be coming to investigate the explosion and there were no reinforcements on the way for Magik and Vulcan. Taking out her phone, she called her girlfriend, Yukio. "Hey, babe. You got a minute to talk?"

Meanwhile back inside, Sunshine's stomach had started to growl. She was constantly eating whenever food was available to her, likely stemming from deep psychological issues. Food was never a guarantee so whenever it was there, she ate as much as she possibly could. Shoving her hands into her pockets, she felt the weight of Casper's phone and she tossed it at the drug addict now that he was awake. "Catch!" Her aim was perfect - it always was, thanks to her secondary mutation.

It was more of Casper's athletic skills that were to be desired as he fumbled the catch and the phone hit the ground. The case came off from the impact, but otherwise it was in one piece - it wasn't an iPhone or anything like that after all. "...Did you steal my phone?" Casper asked her. Sunshine only shrugged in response. Casper didn't even notice the phone buzzing with an incoming call.

"She took it when you were unconscious so it wouldn't fall out of your pockets - if you could even call those things pockets..." Ben informed his friend helpfully.

Blink paused for a moment. "There are miles of tunnels underneath Washington D.C. - we don't use too large a portion of them, but our location is ideal for observing the surface world... And it was, at least we thought, securely defended," she answered Spark Plug. She seemed to have a permanent grimace on her face as she tried to already come up with why the Morlocks had been massacred. Sure, she had managed to get a lot of them to safety but there were still the bodies of countless friends - people she considered to be her family - rotting in the tunnels now. She failed them. "I don't know why a powerful group would want to expand into the tunnels..."

Casper's eyes flickered over towards the pills that Spark Plug had set down, along with the radio. He wasn't really interested in gaining a new way to communicate with people - he barely used his phone as it was. But the pills, those interested him. He had just gotten out of rehab and he was ready for his first relapse, and of course, he doubted it would be his last one either. Hopefully he would be able to go over and grab them, he would just need to wait until everyone was distracted...

"Wait, so you're saying they killed Erg because he was ugly?" Sunshine asked Jack, wrinkling her nose slightly. "I could understand them killing Max over being fucking disgusting to look at but not Erg!" It was clear that she was still angry, though whether or not she was joking or just continuing to bully Max wouldn't be so obvious. Her eyes went over towards Jack's shirtless chest and she sniffled a bit. "Can you put a shirt on, please? No one wants to see that."

Colossus nodded slightly. Jack's theory made sense to him, but it was just an idea at this point - they wouldn't be able to know for sure until they got direct confirmation. If they were lucky, maybe Veil and her team would be able to bring back some information that would help - that or they could just extract some from Vulcan. He wasn't going to let anyone question his baby sister, she had been through enough. "Perhaps. I agree - let us question boy, he will know why they attacked us... and what they did to Illyana."

Vulcan was barely conscious, his head rolling from side to side. The extensive bindings done on him prevented him from moving, so if Moonwalker were to let go he would fall to the ground and hit his head. And as the delirious tend to do, the Sam Winchester lookalike started to laugh profusely. "Oh, like hell am I going to tell you guys what Shaw's planning!" he jeered.

Blink raised an eyebrow. "He's an idiot. That'll make this easier."

Luna Braddock - Glimpse

Location: Driving Around -- Washington D.C.
Skills:

Luna sat in the back with Veil stretched out over top of her. There wasn’t much room so Luna had Veil’s head in her lap while she stripped off a piece of her own shirt and wrapped it tightly around Veil’s wound. She was quite upset with herself that she didn’t stop that from happening. Luna had to admit that she should have known the diamond glass bitch would be there. If she had been better prepared, if Sapphire bloody well trusted her than they could have had a better shot. Thank god Max got the computer. Their near death experience hadn’t been a total loss.
The car started, sirens grew closer and then the tires squealed and they were off. Veil started to shift and Luna watched her carefully. ”Well, we are in a bit of a car chase.” Luna turned her head and looked back at the cop cars following after them. She could always attempt to get into the minds of the closet ones. It always proved tricky for Luna working through vehicles and other barriers. It was much easier to get into the minds of people when you were in the same room as them. ”If you can manage it, cloaking us would get us in the clear.” Luna looked back at Veil with some worry. As far as she could tell, with her limited knowledge, the bullet hadn't hit anything major or there would be a lot more blood but the pain could also knock a person out easily.

Cayden Proudstar - Moonwalker

Location: The First Floor, Mutant Underground -- Washington D.C.
Skills:

Cayden’s eyes widened a bit from the sudden yelling and aggression coming from Leighton. He didn’t really think she had it in her but that's why one should never underestimate a person by their looks. After all she did slid across ice on heels without falling earlier. Cayden looked at the guy and rolled his eyes as he started to laugh and refused to speak with them. Perhaps they should knock him out again, he seemed less annoying then. ”Shaw? Who’s Shaw?” He frowned at the man he was still holding.
Everyone was pretty well downstairs now and Cayden looked at them all. He had come into the middle of a conversation before their captive spoke up and he was a bit confused about all they were saying. It seemed though that the Morlocks and them had been attacked by similar groups working together. Interesting. He looked over at Spark Plug. ”Is there anyway to get a hold of the others or do we have to wait for them to turn up?” He couldn’t remember how long they said they would be gone for but it was getting rather late.

Maximillian Gray

Location: Car
Skills:
New Outfit

As soon as Sapphire arrived everything seemed to move fast. Max quickly placed the computer in the back trunk of the car while the others got in and placed the now two unconscious mutants into their seats. Luna sat in the back with Veil laying across their laps while Havoc was up front buckled in for a ride. Max watched as Glimpse tore off some of her clothing in an attempt to wrap her wounds, and potentially apply pressure to is at well. Good. The sirens grew louder and the police were now visibly on their tail. Panic began to fill Max as he thought of something to help slow them down. He turned to face the back window and stretched out his hand a little. ”I’m going to try and slow them down, maybe with some thumbtacks or nails in the road to give them flats.” He attempted to create these small makeshift caltrops about ten feet behind their vehicle, but in the panic accidentally created a ten foot nail behind them, skewering the car and those inside it like a barbecue treat.

Anything that anyone may have said to him at this point was lost. His eye’s dialated as he stared onto the horrific scene he just created. Flashes of what could’ve been their lives now skipping before him and the only sound he could hear was a faint ringing in his ears that grew louder and louder as he continued to watch in horror. He just killed someone, someone with a family, someone who was only doing their job. They didn’t deserve this, he didn’t mean to, he only wanted to help... So many thoughts rushed through his mind at this time, his lower lip quivering as his hands began to shake violently, slowly reaching up for his own face and gripping his hair in panic. His stomach churned and burned as he felt his meal coming up, burning his throat until finally he attempted to look away from it all and everyone, and spewed what little food he had in him on Veils legs. His hands continued to shake and his words couldn’t be formed to apologize to her, just stuttering nonsense as he thought on what he just did.

Peter Jackson Bernard

Location: Hellfire Club HQ

The phone had gone to voice mail and Jinx had finally decided that there were only a few explanations. Either the druggie was busy, currently high, or finally overdosed on his stache. Sure he may have also misplaced his phone, but regardless of the reason, Jinx was beginning to get extremely annoyed. He slid his phone back into his jeans as he meandered around the room as he took in all the chaos. Jinx kicked the filing cabinet in frustration, one of the drawers jiggling and then he began to recall something. ”Wait wait wait wait wait.” He started snapping his fingers as he was thinking, the smoke practically coming out of his ears. Je began to speak to no one in particular. ”You, you were there, and I was over there, with Britain. Emma was there and so was the little girl. That Elsa wanna be was behind Emma which makes sense, knock out the leader to take out a group. However, they had two of their teammates over here by the cabinets. Why?”

Jinx began to walk around the room cabinets to where Max was previously hiding, looking for anything that may have fallen or a clue to what they wanted. He started tracing the blonde mutants steps as he was the first to not outright fight them untill he was blown. ”He ran this way, but fell short and then we all broke into a fight. Everyone seemed to be locked in combat but him, he came back and grabbed our computer, the other two said something about grabbing file or something...Soo...they were after information? But, if that’s all they wanted why not just send Little Britain alone? I’m sure she could’ve just asked unless its something they know we wouldn’t freely give. Argh this is all too complex. Requiem will need to think of something that could link this all together. What could these pipsqueaks actually want to learn? What’s worth learning?” Anastasia was gone for the moment and Jinx began to chew another piece of gum. Walking over towards the glass, kicking it absentmindedly as he tried to figure out what the mutants wanted, and who they were.

Callie Johnson

Location: Mutant Underground DC Station
Skills: Empathy

Callie leaned back in her seat as she looked towards Jack coming up with a theory, it could work but she still wasn't sure exactly it was all just theories right now anyway. "Well whatever reason why they attacked the tunnels still isn't good regardless." Callie said as she rubbed the bridge of her nose, looking over at Cayden when he asked her about contacting the others who were away on the mission. "I'll give them another hour if they don't either show up or call i'll call Veil see if they are okay." Callie said, she didn't want to compromise their mission by a phone call. "And Sebastian Shaw, is a pretty big name own his own company and stuff Glimpse had info about him from earlier."

Callie turned her attention towards Vulcan now who was now awake, she started to think of ways to get information out of the mutant that had attacked them. Magik for the time being was off limits as much as she wanted to know information from her, she didn't want to piss off Colossus. She then started to focus on Vulcan, using her empathy on him, he would start to feel depressed and vulnerable, and stood up from where she was sitting. "You know I may not be a telepath, or mind controller to get answers from you. But I can make you feel just about any emotion I can think of. Why not just tell us why you and Magik were here, what is Shaw planning, and what you did to her." Callie said gesturing towards Colossus' sister.

James Kingston

Location: The Mutant Underground (Floor 1)
Skills: N/A

The name Shaw rang a bell, involved in a little bit of everything because they have the money to do it, but it didn’t put up anything concrete. Clearly, this Shaw guy didn’t like the Mutant Underground so he sent some people to blow it up. There was probably more to it, anytime any of these rich scheming folks did anything there was always a comical amount of layers to it, but James had caught his breath again. And for the first time since he was down here, he took a moment to look around. Mutants littered the ground, others caught in the crossfire of this insane attack, and James swore as he pushed himself to his feet. Other people―mostly children for God’s sake!―were hurt and here they were, talking about interrogating people.

“Can we split our attention for a bit? We’ve got injured people and if we want to find a new location, we need them on their feet first.” James asked as he made his way around the room. He spent enough energy handling the most serious issues as possible, getting people into good enough shape that they could move around safely. He felt himself shaking as he did, pushing himself right up to his limit. He’d need food and rest after this, an unfortunate consequence of his abilities. James hoped they’d have that luxury but in the few days he’d gotten himself into this mess, he somehow sincerely doubted it.

Requiem

Location: The Hellfire Club
Skills: N/A

Requiem closed the tap and dried his hands, careful not to irritate them further. The cool water would keep blisters from forming but he should get some antibacterial cream in addition. This entire situation was a headache, with the one person he managed to work against the thieves knocked out immediately. And on top of it, he had to work against the people who were supposedly working against the thieves in the first place. Ms.Frost’s ugliness showed its head at the worst time, forcing him to specifically deal with one person when he could have shut them all down instead and because of it, she was taken out of the fight. He wouldn’t linger here any further. He wanted to know exactly what possessed these idiots to pull this off. He stepped out of the restroom and watched Jinx pace around the room, kicking glass of all things.

“Stop that.” Requiem snapped, his patience at its limit as he limped into the room to get his suitcase. “Cool your hands in the restroom and then we’re leaving. We’ll be making a visit to Shaw to figure out what this girl wanted and where she is and then we’ll be retrieving the computer before they can wreak havoc with the information inside. An attack on our grounds is unacceptable and after today, I don’t trust the others to handle it.” Requiem pulled out his phone and dialed the extension for the janitorial staff, requesting a clean up service and the manager for the department to help set up repairs.

Waverley Watts - Feedback

Location: Mutant Underground, Washington D.C. Station (First Floor)
Skills:Videography

Waverley's worn sneakers sped down the stairs, occasionally descending two steps at a time, and never having both feet grounded at the same time. It wasn't excitement to join the others that had her pace quickened, though. It was the fear of what might happen if another villain appeared, and what she might do if she wasn't around people whose powers were actually super. As she pranced down the last few steps, her eyes were first caught by the group of her peers surrounding the captured villain that was actually conscious. She took a few steps towards them with the intention of joining in, when she noticed what else was down here: an ensemble of bloodied bodies riddling the floor.

She let out a gasp, shifting to walk towards them. If she hadn't been lucky enough to have been in the attic training, there was no doubt in her mind she'd be lying there right along with the rest of the kids. Her hand, trembling, reached down to her pocket, ready to fish out her phone and call for an ambulance, when the strategist from the earlier exercise drew close to one of the injured kids. She paused, staring with amazement: whatever he was doing was closing up some of the kid's major wounds. This was massive. She let her rebar clang onto the ground as she swung the backpack in front of her, unzipping it. She pulled out her video camera, and lightly placed the backpack next to the weapon she had dropped on the ground. The healer was already onto the next victim by the time Waverley had the camera on and in her hand, but as soon as she did, she followed him, capturing his healing of the children. This was the kind of thing people needed to see. This was the kind of thing that'd show people mutants weren't necessarily forces of destruction. This was legit messiah shit. Waverley kept on his trail as he made the rounds, dealing with all of the victims' major injuries. Once she was done, she stopped recording and turned the camera off, holding it limply and letting it idly point at the ground.

"That was...you can heal people?" She managed to say, stumbling over her words. She glanced out at the still weak young boys and girls who'd just been healed, but didn't look perfect. "Are they going to all be okay?"
