I'd be all right with that, but per your app:

Killin was born to an elven mother and Dragonborn father in a small high elf city that almost never let anyone else in. From a young age, Killin was seen as an outcast by children his own age because he could spit lightning at anyone, whether on purpose or accident was up for debate half the time. However, he also showed a great knack for spellwork and thus began a little training. Word of the child prodigy got around a little to some of the other nearby cities and it wasn't more than a year before a powerful high elf wizard came to recruit Killin for the guild.

Killin was happy to go but sad to leave his parents. He wrote them nearly every day, allowing them to keep up with his life. Then came the first guild job that took him to a new place.

The problem is, I'm not seeing many opportunities for my character to have been exposed to this guild. He's not an elf and he's not important enough to be granted a diplomatic exception, so he's almost certainly never been inside this city. If he is to recognize the guild's symbol then that leaves any acolytes wandering around in the outside world, though your app doesn't indicate just how common or rare the sight of one would be. You may well be the first student I've ever seen from this college.

With that said, what is the guild's relationship to the dark arts? Is it famed and esteemed for its teachings in, say, holy magic?

@pugbutter Well, the guild itself is not just elven. It actually has branches in both Waterdeep and Baldur's Gate. I know we're not technically in Faerun anymore but I see no reason why the guild shouldn't be in Draydon.

Apologies for sort-of being away. Classes start back tomorrow so I've been doing RL stuff in preparation for that.

@pugbutter As interesting as your idea is, I'm afraid Renault wouldn't be of much use there, he's sort-of been out of the loop for the last seven years as a borderline-vagrant. Any connections he has are gonna be shaky at best, inaccessible at worst. Dude probably couldn't walk within spitting distance of a temple without getting dirty looks lol.

I'm good with anything you come up with @La Fleur. To be completely honest, I felt the tavern scene in the last iteration was a lot easier way to get characters introduced, and I'm racking my brain trying to justify Renault being at the execution, but I'll figure something out in the next couple days, hopefully.

Go ahead and call me wishy washy, but Ghost Shadoe has a point. The tavern scene WAS easier when I really think about it.

EDIT: I think maybe the reason it drug on for so long before was that we just kept having to wait on people. For days at a time.

This is exactly what turned me off to the reboot, tbh. While the new intro scene was well-written and interesting, it just seemed overkill for an intro. The tavern allowed things to unfold a bit slowly before the troupe dove into some action.

But that's just my two cents :)

I wouldn't be offended if characters just witnessed it and went like "Hm, well that was neato" and went galavanting on their own way afterward lol.

This is supposed to be a sort of CYOA thing, just with an enticing main plot for those who don't have their creative juices flowing.

I’ve thought this over and here’s what we’ll do...

I’ve reposted the original intro from last November. @Whoami, I still want your arc to be apart of the RP, but I agree with Hellion. As an intro; too heavy. And that was my mistake. Your post/arc is more suited for in-depth story basis.

I’m thinking we give people a chance to connect and intro their characters.

At this point, things are scattered. This is my last big push for this RP. That said, if we still can’t make it work, I’ll pursue another concept I have stowed away. I’d really like this to get underway. But I won’t keep forcing it.

(If that sounded petty or salty my apologies. Not my intention.)

I'm close to posting Renault's intro, but yeah, definitely seems like people are falling off the wayside already; which is what's giving me pause if I should post.
