Promien barely shifted his gaze, though the pools of silver flecked shadow that were his eyes found Mortus all the same.

"Promien."

"I see, pleased to make your acquaintance." he said looking at Promien in passing, then placed a hand in the folds of his robes and produced a strange metal object that he set on the table. "I must confer upon something, beg your pardon all." he said to the others before bowing his head, he takes a deep breath then utters an incantation to get insight into the outcome of either plan.

@Kenshi@Vatonage Neither of you could of foresaw what happened next. As Syrzan cast the spell, Shandris' magic rose up in defensive preparation against the intrusive magic, pinging it off her with vehement force. Shandris was left momentarily reeling from the sheer force as the ricochet struck all those in the room. But Syrzan overestimated his own power, and was suddenly filled with a gnawing hunger that needed to be quenched.

Syrzan Quest added: Devour the brain of a humanoid within the next in game day or suffer the consequences...

Syrzan modifier added: temporarily vulnerable to incoming psionic effects for an hour. 15% higher chance for psionic damage to succeed.

Shandris modifier added: temporarily over-defensive vs incoming psionic effects for an hour. 15% higher chance to hit a 6 on resisting psionic damage.

@ZAVAZgggMortus: 3
Mortus is struck by a strange sensation of being manipulated. He resists it, but has a strange hankering for corn all of a sudden.
Promien: 1
The plan is the height of elegance. No one suspects a chicken of overwhelming a settlement, let alone being a skilled necromancer. You hop up on the table, clucking at the top of your lungs for all to see.

@VeyrinDay Ada: 2
Ada begins to cluck before she realising what is happening. Wait, why is she clucking? What's going on? why is it hard to stop? why does it seem like such a good idea?! she feels compelled to do it! there must surely be a logical reason for this.

@GentlemanvaultboyZiebach: 6
The spell riccochets off you, and suddenly all the undead servants are clucking, a great cocophony rising up through the castle as the urge spreads to each lost corner.

Ziebach modifier added: temporarily over-defensive vs incoming psionic effects for an hour. 15% higher chance to hit a 6 on resisting psionic damage.

@RainyHighMarina: 4
Cluck, cluck, cluck! This can't be natural! what's going on? it's so soothing to do! It's innappropriate, what will your servants say? Cluck!

@rocketrobie2Galeini: 3
You shake off the feeling of being manipulated, but you are filled with thoughts of juicy worms momentarily.

@rocketrobie2Galeini: Smoke Bomb - 2
A dud! You miss the table and the smoke bomb falls off the table and rolls unceremoniously to a stop at your feet. It then fizzles, a red smoke rising unimpressively past the chair legs in a miserably unimpressive stream, causing you to devolve into a sneezing fit. Definitely a dud bomb.

@Dark CloudMortus: 5
You watch in mild amusement as the room descends into chaos, feeling pretty good about your life.

Mortus - Plan Insight: 1
You look into the mists and dislike what you see. A giant eyeless molerat, the size of two cities, with a gaping maw, bursting from the ground and swallowing the nomads whole. You suddenly feel an alien, vicious intelligence creeping in on your mind, it's attention brought fully to bear against you as if it turns to look right at you.

It knows where you are.

And it's coming.

The skeletons cluck loudly as much as skeletons can cluck. It's more of a rattle, really...

Emergency Quest: Legendary Monster approaching to devour the castle.

take care of it, or something. Oh, Mortus better hurry up and tell everyone, or...

Ziebach scowled as the druid shit down his plan, slumping in his seat. "Yeah, men, gold, defenses, they'll take them out for us. They're human, they're always looking for a reason to fight one another. I wasn't gonna say we fight them, you think I'm an idiot..."

He didn't get long into his mutterings before all the china was violently thrown to the ground. He looked around as the skeletons as the tea spread across the floor. "Some of that was from the third century." He said, his voice stony again. "Some of that was Zandarian China. They don't make it anymore, because they don't exist." He got out of his chair, leaned down, and started picking up shards, trying to separate the valuable stuff from the rabble rubble for later repair.
"I agree with Galeini," He shouted from his work as the conversation went on. Secretly he considered Galeini perhaps the most powerful of them all. "I could make arrows that could turn the Nomad's enemies to stone or make them grow snakes instead of hair. That would wow the hell out of them. We could use the nomads easy. I don't need them as skeletons, look at what the skeletons just did."

As if the put an exclamation mark on the end of that sentence the entire room suddenly erupted in rattly clucking as Ziebach felt someone try to punch him in the brain. He stood up sharply and looked around, spotting the majority of his comrades also caught up in the clucking flew that had afflicted the skeletons. He locked eyes with the mind-flayer across the table, as though anyone wouldn't understand what had just happened when there was a mind-flayer in the room. "I get that mind flaying is your thing, but what is this?"

Mortus

Mortus opened his eyes and looked around at everyone in the room "Damn it, everyone evacuate the castle. I have received a vision that our keep is about to be assailed by a beast of epic proportions! Flee you fools!" in an instant he was standing, as he did he grabbed the strange object and rushed to the door and threw it open.

"Well, isn't this just a pickle? Still, looks like I'll still be getting fed today," Seggorath noted, the hunger in her tone evident.

Maere shook his head with a sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose momentarily.

"I'll grab the boy."

And with that he promptly walked over to Promien, who was still clucking his blackened heart out, and swung right for his face. With the necromancer successfully rendered unconscious, Maere hoisted him over his shoulder. That done, he swiftly left the room, his body becoming enveloped in its demonic carapace in the process. After leaving the castle and placing Promien somewhere relatively safe, Maere summoned Ashrune to his hand, its form more akin to a flaming ember than an actual blade. Striding off, he went to lie in wait for the creature, planning on taking it down in one fell swoop.

Galeini left very little time for thought as he quckly stood up, threw down another smoke pellet to mask his escape, and book it for the building's exit. He made sure to stay near to the group in the hopes of them being able to protect him against the more dangerous beasts of the barren land. Of course he could protect himself! He was Galeini the GREAT!.. but it would probably be a lot safer to have numbers on his side.

"Let us make haste! Out plans shant be foiled by such an insolent BEAST! Afterwards we can celebrate with a bowl of worms!"

Ada

Ada sighed for whatever shenanigan happened that hindered her tongue to cast any spell in order to survive the incoming threat. She was still calm as she knew that the Golem she parked in the castle's dungeon was more than enough for such threat. Unfortunately though, the artificial soul had not been finished and Ada had to pilot the Golem through its opened chest cavity.

Ada summoned the Golem, entered it, and turned it on. She pointed the Golem's cannon to the giant molerat to obliterate it. BOOM!

Syrzan sat alone in his seat still, scanning the room for any delicious looking heads, the bigger the better,the brain will taste.
Of course he would prefer a child over an adult brain, such purity in innocence.
But at this moment, he'd settle for just about anything, and that's when his eyes fell upon such beauty.
The Illithid glided over the floor, his robe trailing from behind, as he came to a stop, standing over a young man's enormous sized head.
He ran his hands gently over the servant's head, caressing the baldness.
The servant gulped, and squeaked "May I be of service to thee?"
"You have such a magnificent cranium."
"Uh tha..thank you sir..eh madam..uh"
Syrzan pushed the servant away, "No This will not do, I'm not devouring a stuttering idiot's brain."
A young woman walked by carrying a tray of mugs.
"Excuse me, may I touch your cranium?" "Young lady, wench... come back here, I simply just want to talk, I promise. "

You feel the ground begin to rumble as the beast makes it's approach. Out the windows and on the battlements, you can see it, burrowing out the ground like a jumping dolphin and back down, leaving massive craters in it's wake.

@Gentlemanvaultboy 2 - Failure
You look through the shards, your elegant boots being stained by the mixing teas puddling on top of the flagstones. You start to sort through in search of the rare antiques but to be honest, all of these pieces look like they could be used for something. Some of the previous Mages in the Black Castle had some good taste, and in the end you have no way to tell what is worthless from what is worthwhile. Like a magpie, by the end you have collected a very nice looking pile of pretty shards, that have no real match between the pieces. But it does look cool.

@ZAVAZggg 3 - Mixed Success
You speed through the castle and find a small closet with thick walls in the hopes of keeping Promien safe. You summon Ashrune successfully, but as you wander through the corridors of the castle, you realize you don't recognise the area. Walls seem to become older, strange intricate carvings of ancient slavers decorating the stonework. The lighting is replaced by dimming crystal, and you see two pinpricks of red eyes emerging from the darkness. A ghoul, no less. Had it made it's way up from the catacombs and dungeons beneath the ground, or have you stumbled into an unknown part of the castle? It lurches towards you, hungering for flesh.

Promien does not awaken yet..

@rocketrobie2 3 - Mixed Success
This smoke pellet was far superior to the last, creating a beautiful plume of smoke that was majestic enough to match Galeini the GREAT's needs. However, it produced a quiet ppppppppppt sound, that took away from the wizard's overal elegance.

@VeyrinDay 2 - Failure
You go to fire the cannon expecting a BOOM! what you hear is a clink. You go to fire it again. and again. click. click. click Is it jammed? is something wrong with the programming? why isn't it firing?! what's wrong with it?! Your thoughts start racing as you think through the potential glitches. All the while, the legendary molerat approaches.

More and more people entered the council room as Marina quickly sat back, shutting her mouth. She hoped no one had seen her fail miserably at her first speech. And as she sat silently, arguments ensued. So many that magic began to fly. Before she could even use a shield to shield herself, Marina got the urge to CLUCK.

"Cluck--" A quick word came out.

Scara looked at their master with large eyes and confusion.

"Baaaawk!" Marina covered her mouth. "Cluck!"

What in the world?!

The next moment, the person known as Mortus told the Council that they needed to evacuate the castle as something was coming to attack. Marina turned and looked at Scara, who shrugged their arms while mouthing, "I don't fucking know."

Marina shook her head and then whispered to Scara, "Let Namwe and Hukot know to get to safety; send them a telepathic message now." She then turned around and watched as several people made their escape.

The one known as Ada summoned a golem and entered it as though it were some mechanical robot beast and tried to atomize the giant molerat coming for the castle. However, their attack resulted in a mechanical failure of sorts.

Marina stood and looked out one of the windows watching the giant molerat get closer to the castle. The windows and walls rumbled, and she watched with mixed horror and mixed amazement as the molerat leaped and dived into the hard rock and ground like a dolphin.

"Amazing," she said to Scara, who had already sent the message to Namwe and Hukot to find safety.

"But master, what are we going to do to stop the molerat from attacking the castle?" Marina looked at Scara and raised an eyebrow. She then turned around to the chaos behind her and shook her head.

"I mean... what do molerats even fear?" Marina asked Scara.

"Umm... snakes?" Scara replied while rubbing their silvery and sparkly beard.

"A giant snake sounds like a bad idea; we'd create a cycle of never-ending madness." Marina grinned at the thought, though.

"Oh, what about a giant trench?" Scara suggested.

Marina laughed. "Then what, we'd have a giant molerat traveling around the castle for the rest of time?" Marina shook her head. "No. We will summon lightning to electrocute this majestic beast."

Marina then wielded her staff and raised it in the air, her goal evident. She let her magic fly, hoping that it would rain lightning across the molerat, either scaring it away from the castle or frying it to death.

Syrzan finally cornered the young servant girl, she turned to her left but it was blocked, then to her right, but the same as the left.
"Please sir, I am just a servant girl, I don't wanna die."[
"Young lady, I'm not here to kill you, I am simply here to let you see the wonders of the universe."
Haven't you ever dreamed of seeing what the Gods have created beyond the stars?" Syrzan asked.
Her eyes grew large as she did imagine what the heavens must look like Up close.
"Close your eyes child, let me show you the truth and the way." he spoke placing his hands delicately on each side of her head.
The Illithid tilted his head back as his mouth opened, revealing many strange alien looking tentacles as he went about devouring the poor servant girl's brain.

You punched the interface console and the golem flares you life around you, you could feel it reaching out to your consciousness as it seeks a commander as it lacks an artificial soul. The cannon flares to life and a scorching plasma beam shoots forth from the barrel, an earsplitting scream erupting from the beast before you as it flails wildly, globules of green ichor splurting across the blasted wasteland and forming glowing puddles of unidentified ooze.

@RainyHigh 3 - Mixed Success
You rain down powerful lightning on the flailing beast, lighting it up with bolts that strike true. The skies darken as torrential rain sets in, the wind screeching through the window and whipping your hair across your face. You watch in growing satisfaction as the damage creature gives one final roaring bellow of pain and anger before disappearing down into a tunnel it created in the ground. You feel the earth rumble beneath your feet. Is it still there...? or has it departed...?

Before you have a chance to consider it a feeling of dizziness overcomes you. Your legs give way as you slump to the floor, feeling suddenly overwhelmed. That spell had become far more powerful then you intended - you had accomplished your goal, but you feel uncomfortably drained.

Gain Temporary Condition: Feverous

@Dark Cloud 5 - Success
You feel a surge of abyssal energy fill your body as you see the creature dissapear into the hole. It is not far off and you can perhaps finish off the job, particularly with the power coursing through your veins currently. You feel a surge of adrenaline as you consider the possibilities. What if you and the Council Members could actually defeat this beast? You hadn't thought it would be conceivable before, but now that goal seemed within your reach.

@DraconiWarlord 4 - Partial Success
You murmur the spell and feel the power welling up inside you, ancient and powerful. You murmur the words of power, congealing a creature before you from light, your eyes momentarily blinded by it's golden red scales. As it forms and the magic dies down, you hear the beating of powerful wings, and look back.

What an adorable looking whelpling! It sneezes and produces a puff of smoke by accident. Looking panicked as it's eyes water, it swoops down beside you and hides behind your legs, shaking in fear at it's own sneeze.

@Kenshi 3 - Mixed Success
You slurp up the brains but find the taste bland. You may as well have done this girl a favor, as you realise her mind was in poor health, perhaps days away from a serious injury. You wince as you munch it down, but feel unsatisfied - fast food never quite sat well with you, it always left you wanting more.

Syrzan Quest added: Devour the brain of a humanoid within the next in game week or suffer the consequences...

@ZAVAZggg 5 - success

Absolutely pathetic. You trounce the creature before it has the opportunity to so much as growl. It crumples to a heap before you.

At least you know where some ghoul based reagents are now, should the mood ever take you to dabble in such things. Now that that's dealt with, what to do?

Promien stirs in his sleep. He will awaken soon.

Headache. Now that was a certainly a name for this group of fools, Shandris figured. Her head reeled from the incoming psionic attack, temporarily unable as the council began cluck like chickens and scream of an approaching giant beast.

Wait. Giant beast?

"Hold, you buffoons!" The druidess shouted, waving the magician's smoke away with her hand as she stepped with care over the broken china. But she was too late. Perhaps Shandris, being a druid, could've reasoned with the beast. They were both one of nature; one of the same. And yet it seemed her fellow council members were so eager for death that they forgot the advantage they held in their grasp.

"I swear; why do I even bother..." Shandris uttered, approaching the now fleeing molerat. A shame. Such a creature would've made a fine war beast or some other boon to their cause. Kneeling downwards, the druidess' eyes grew a greenish hue as she began speaking in a foreign tongue, and harnessed her own magic with the elemental uncertainty of the land to bring life to nearby trees, hoping to drive their roots right through the beast's body. Even if they failed in their task, the druidess was in need for some treants or ents to join her cause anyway.

Mortus takes a deep breath, while he reaches a hand towards his mask yet hesitates as his hand grazed the cold metal 'No not yet, the lords haven't demanded the mask.' instead the robed man disappears in the blink of the eye reappearing in the darkness of the hole "A fitting end," he laughs like a madman before his hands start emitting dark red lights "Daemoinin Vothai Vermanis..." he utters the beginning of the incarnation Abyss in my heart, with strength granted by the lords of the void..." raising a hand the energy within him begins channelling into his hand.

"Your servant sends this wretch to the void as tribute for your strength!" and with that he punches the legendary mole-rat channelling the strength flowing through his veins, unleashing it all through the force of his strike.

Ziebach couldn't help but feel small next to Ada's monstrous war golem, especially after it blasted a big fat goopy hole in the legendary monster that had been ready to rip the castle to pieces moments ago. He have to go and collect some of that goop later. Silently he replaced the fancy shards he had gathered in his pockets as the others did their best to ward off the beast, though the most effective blow was the lightning that scared the monster underground.

After pulling his hand out of his pocket the shards had been replaced with a metal and glass ball containing a clear, slightly glowing light. The beast was running away now, scurrying deeper and deeper into its tunnels. They couldn't have that, who knew what you could make out of the soul of such a monster. So he ran to the window, drew back his hand and gave his best pitch to land the magic bomb in the hole.

He didn't know what magic he had baked into that particular bomb, but he sure hoped it was lethal or at least mentally scarring.
