Dean thought back to the same fond memory that Mika did, his mind almost not able to place her face on that innocent teenager she used to be. But the memory was just as vivid. The smell of her hair was part of the memory, and hadn’t changed much over the years. Only the color had. The smile on her face had changed slightly, less innocent now. But he still loved the remnants just as much. The date had ended in one of the most intoxicating kisses he had ever received before the bad.

He pushed the bad away from his memory, only concentrating on how simple and timeless the memory was. He smiled externally and nodded his head, “It really does. It has that feeling of your grandma or grandpa in the kitchen, which means they probably have milkshakes, if you want one!”

As the waitress approached the table, Dean glanced up at the specials on the wall, and he smirked at the name of one, and decided to try it.

“I’ll just have a coke, but I think I want to get the grand slammer toilet burger.”, he read out to her as he stared at the small menu. The waitress raised her eyebrows at him, seemingly worried about his heart, and wrote it down on a ticket before turning to Mika.

Dean pointed at the board, and smiled over to Mika, “Ditch the rabbit food?”

Mika chuckled at his assumption of what kind of feel the diner had, and she had to admit he had a valid point to make. It did have that family run business feel going on which was always appealing to her. "you're probably right about that" she smiled, wondering if his broad smile was down to remembering the same memory as herself.

When he ordered what he did, instantly seeming to know what he wanted as the waitress greeted them, she too rose an eyebrow at his choice. "oh boy.. Lord help me tonight in the motel" she thought to herself before looking through the menu just quickly before looking up at the waitress after smirking at Dean's suggestion.

"I'll take the Southern fried chicken burger" she ordered, getting a nod from the waitress as she wrote it down, taking the menus and walking away from them. Mika then looked at Dean again, "seriously? The toilet burger?" she said to him, an amused expression on her face.

"I swear if you start stinking up the motel room tonight you're in the doghouse" she teased, knowing she didn't actually mean it but she wouldn't hesitate shoving him out of the bed onto the floor.

Dean turned back to Mika after they ordered and raised both his eyebrows at her reaction to his food choice, “What? It sounded good! I have no idea what’s on it, but it’s a burger. It weights a half pound. And it’s bound to be greasy. Just what I need.”

Her toilet comment caused him to laugh, shaking his head, “If I really need to go, I’ll make sure to torture the receptionist with it. The bathroom in the reception area is nicer anyway. Besides, you ended up with fried food, yourself. After all the healthy stuff you eat, how do you think you’re gonna feel after this.”

Dean leaned both elbows on the table, his head resting against his fists as he stared over at her, a soft smile staying on his face, “You look gorgeous today, if I haven’t told you, already. I’m supposed to be the good partner and keep things professional, but every time you open your mouth, it gets harder. You’ve become one hell of a hunter since we were kids…”

He almost regretted mentioning her hunting skills, considering what had caused her to become a hunter in the first place. But, he also needed to let her know that not only were her skills impressive, but that he appreciated her being his partner, since he hated hunting alone.

Seeing Dean react to her reaction at his order just made her smirk all the more. It felt good to be able to jest with him like this even though they were on a case. His comment about annoying the receptionist to use their restroom instead just made her laugh softly, whilst shaking her head until she looked at him with a faked offended look on her face about his comment on her own eating habits.

"do you really think I only ever eat a strict healthy diet 24/7? I treat myself to junk every now and then, contrary to popular belief" she jested back. "and compared to what you ordered mine probably still is considered healthy" she giggled.

He then completely threw her off guard for a split moment when he called her gorgeous and complimented her on her hunting skills. She wasn't expecting him to come out with it so when he did, she blushed at his words as she always took his words to her to heart. She could see how he was almost regretting bringing up the last part of his compliment, knowing why he would, which she found perfectly understandable.

"thank you, it means a lot to hear you say that. It really does" she replied back to him, tucking her lose whispy strands that framed her face behind her ear on one side. "I really do care what you think when it comes to my hunting. And as for the former comment? That also means a lot, you look amazing yourself today" she continued saying.

As she finished speaking, the waitress came over with their sodas, placing them on the table. "food will be right up soon" they got told before the waitress then walked away.

Mika took her lemonade and sipped it through the straw that was provided and realised in that first sip just how thirsty she truly was.

Dean shook his head, at first at her speaking about her eating habits, “No. See, I have only seen you eat one unhealthy food since I’ve been back home, and that’s bacon. And I think that’s just because Bobby Singer doesn’t know how to cook anything else for breakfast.”

He laughed at the comparison to his burger, and shrugged his shoulders. It was then that he noticed the innocent blush creep up over Mikas cheeks, and smirked as she moved her hair behind her ears in a very ‘Mika’ way, “You’re welcome. And I could say a lot more good about your hunting that I usually don’t mention, because I don’t want you getting a big head and going soft on me. But we make pretty good partners…and you’re a better talker than me.”

Dean laughed softly as the waitress stepped back up to the table, bringing drinks. He smiled at her, giving her a small and charming wink when she confirmed that their food was coming. He was dying of hunger, and honestly, he was ready to see the worst burger he had ever held in his hands.

As he watched Mika take her straw between her lips, he placed his elbows on the table and leaned his chin against his fists, just staring at her. The view took him back to when they were teenagers and he would convince her to try different drinks and food that she normally wouldn’t order at restaurants. He would introduce her to different ways to do things, and condiments that strangely worked with a lot of bar food, and it was the first leg of her becoming a hunter, before she ever really knew it.

Smirking, he glanced toward the window, and leaned over his own glass to take a drink, “This whole town seems oddly peaceful. For a town with a skin walker problem, if that’s what it is, I don’t see a lot of fear or chaos. It’s all really weird…”

Dean's smug smirk at making her blush didn't go amiss on her, but she was too focused on chuckling at his comment about Bobby's cooking ability. He had a point as she was certain that now she was technically an adult, she did more cooking for her and Bobby than Bobby did. Not that she ever minded as it meant she was contributing around the house whilst she lived there.

His remark on not wanting her to get a big head from all his compliments on her hunting skills made her shake her head and chuckle, and found herself refraining from saying 'what like you, you mean?' as a joke. But it was true, they did make a good team and no matter what always had each other's backs.

With the wsitress bringing their drinks over, she didn't even get affected by Dean winking at her which showed her what progress she was making at working on bettering herself and her jealousy. When the waitress was gone, she noticed him staring at her completely smitten as she took a sip of her soda whilst also guessing he was going down memory lane again. She couldn't blame him either as she always found these places reminded her of her pre hunter days with him.

When he mentioned how peaceful the place seemed to be, she glanced out the window and had to agree. "yeah you're right. Which is very weird. Usually if there's weird killings in a town, you can tell everyone is on high alert. Which makes you wonder if they're really keeping it under wraps" she replied. Though it did almost feel like it was a blessing in disguise as it meant they could do the case without too much suspicions from anybody and everybody being shoved onto them.

Around five minutes later, their food came over and was placed in front of them. "can I get you two anything else?" the waitress asked.

Dean nodded at Mika’s agreement that the state of the town seemed a bit weird. He couldn’t quite put his finger on what was going on here, other than maybe the towns people didn’t know. Outside of the newspaper article, that half the town probably hadn’t read, they didn’t seem too warned about the situation

“Maybe the mayor and his people aren’t coughing up any information to the townsfolk. That basically makes them sitting ducks, live bait…”, he muttered as he thought about the possibilities for the situation. The two situations that came up in his head were the mayor hiding things, or the cops spouting threats to keep things under wraps, to protect someone in town. It was something they would have to look into if they hit a dead end., “Could be the cops…”

As the waitress came back to the table, Dean sat back from the edge where he had rested his elbows and smiled, watching his plate land in front of him. His eyebrows raised at how big his burger was, versus Mika’s plate of food and laughed softly.

“I think we’re good. I’m good.”, he said with a smile, before putting the burger down on the plate and waving a finger around at the waitress, “On second thought. Pie. Do you have any kind of pie?”

Dean's suggestion made Mika and nod, briefly closing her eyes as she did so and reopening them again. "mm, could be. Something definitely doesn't add up. Makes you won't if the authorities know what it is or who and they're covering it up. Or worse, they're purposely keeping under wraps to have innocent bystanders as sacrifices" she added, really hoping it wasn't that case but she knew as competent hunters, they couldn't rule it out.

With their food arriving, she gave the waitress a polite smile "thank you" she said as she let the woman place their plates down in front of them, seeing the sheer size difference in their burgers. "I'm good thanks" she said in answer to the question, before rolling her eyes at Dean's request for pie.

"sure do! We got apple pie today, if that's good for you I'll go get you some" the waitress explained. "if it's pie, he'll have it" Mika quipped making the waitress chuckle, "got ya honey, I'll be right back with it" the waitress said in amusement before walking away, leaving them to it.

Mika then looked at Dean with a smile, "if you even manage to feel hungry after that burger ill be impressed" she said to him, as she grabbed a fry off her plate, eating it then grabbing the ketchup bottle on their table to put some on her plate.

Dean smiled sweetly at the waitress as she mentioned apple pie. He barely even let her mention that it was what they had before he nodded his head, “That’s perfect.”

At Mika chiming in and essentially ordering for him, he raised his eyebrows and then laughed, himself at how well she knew him. There was rarely a time he turned down sweets, especially pie. He looked down at his burger and sighed, now only wanting the pie, but also wanting the burger.

“I’ll compromise, for pie. I’m a growing boy that listens to his gut. Right now…my gut is telling me to just…eat…”, he muttered, picking up his burger in both hands and taking a huge bite out of it. He sat the burger back on the plate and wiped his hands lazily on his pants, before groaning at how much the burger hit the spot in his hunger cravings, “And that burger is so amazing…Mm. I feel like I”m going to have to sleep off a food coma, tonight…”

As the waitress came by, she sat a small plate down with the biggest slice of apple pie Dean had ever laid eyes on, in front of him. He looked down at it with wide eyes, and then back up at the waitress.

“Look good?”

“Um….yes Ma’am. You’re an angel…”, Dean muttered around a mouthful of food, which caused the waitress to laugh as she turned to help another table.

When Dean said he was a growing boy, Mika couldn't do much other than chuckle. It wasn't the first time she had heard that excuse from him and she knew well enough it wouldn't be the last time either. She couldn't help but watch his reaction over that first bite of the burger and it didn't disappoint her in the slightest. It was one of sheer bliss, one she had seen from him before and to her it was such an innocent normal expression for him to have.

Mika then picked up her own burger and took a reasonable sized bite, nodding her appreciation of it, as she enjoyed the taste of junk food for once, even if she did know deep down she would be going for a run in the morning to make up for it. "it wouldn't surprise me if you did fall into a food coma after this lot, just don't do it before we go skin walker hunting" she smirked.

With the waitress coming over once again with the slice of pie, Mika was surprised by the sheer size of it and couldn't help be amused by Dean's eyes nesrlt bulging out of his head as he marvelled it. "that'll feed you for two servings at this rate" she chuckled between bites.

As she ate, she found herself still thinking about the case they were on, no matter how much she tried to shut that part of her mind off. She wished there was more I formation they had to go on and wondered if they would get an answer about the hair they found.

She also kept wondering how they could go about getting the skinwalker when they knew so little, would one of them have to be bait? She tried to shake the thoughts from her head to just enjoy her lunch.

Dean shook his head at Mika with a mouthful of food, and carefully swallowed, “I’m gonna be ready for hunting, after this! As long as I fight the sleep off, I’ll have plenty of fuel, all night.”

He laughed, and pushed the burger away, deciding to take it with him, for after the hunt. He was always starving after a hunt, and there weren’t a lot of places in this type of town to get food late at night. He pulled the pie close to him, and dug into it, just basking in the pure sugary goodness as he paused, “I’m taking the burger with me. This is amazing. You okay?”

He noticed that Mika was in thought. He took another bite, and tapped the edge of his fork on the table, “I’ll be the bait…”

He knew that she was probably thinking about it. This was their first time hunting a skin walker together, and it would be all trial and error. That usually meant that one of them would have to draw the monster out. Dean watched her face and shrugged his shoulders. It had to be one of them, and considering everything she had gone through, he would rather take the heat.

Because of her inner thoughts going on in her head, she barely heard Dean say about taking rhe burger with him for after the hunt. It was only when he asked if she was okay and tapped his fork on the plate that she snapped out of her thoughts and acknowledged what he actually said.

"sorry, it's just this case, it's baffling to say the least." she started saying before her brain really registered that he seemed to figure out what she was thinking, "Dean.." she sighed, knowing it was pointless finishing that sentence as he wouldn't change his mind. "..fine, but let's hope it won't have to come to either of us as bait" she commented.

She ate some more fries and looked at him, if something went wrong with being bait for the skin walker, she wouldn't be able to live with herself losing Dean as well, but she somehow just knew that he was thinking of her and everything she had already gone through when offering himself up as said bait.

"sorry, I promised we'd have a break and here I am making us think of it" she apologised, as she caught out the corner of her eye outside an officer and some suited male looking frantic whilst trying to look calm to any bystander. Her eyes watching them, thinking whatever was making them speak in a hushed and frantic way to each other, it must be big.

It seemed so suspicious to her and wondered if it was a link or not to their case. "hmm, do they look suspicious as hell to you?" she asked Dean, gesturing toward what she was looking at.

Dean furrowed his brow at Mika’s worry about the case. He was worried about the same things, he just had more of an ability to turn that side of his brain off. He hadn’t taken that into account when he brought things up at the table, and it caused him to feel a bit bad.

He shook his head and waved his fork in front of him as she tried to protest his idea to be bait. There was no way in hell he could keep his head if she was going to do it, and he needed to be the muscle in all of this, bait or not. It was something he wasn’t going to budge on.

Dean followed her eyes while shaking his head, “Don’t worry about it. We’re here to do a job. It would be weird if we didn’t at least think about it, good food or not..”

As he watched the men outside, he narrowed his eyes, “They look like they’re disagreeing over what to do about something that affects them both, to me…Could be our kind of thing. It’s the only lead we’ve had so far, other than the bodies.”

He raised his eyebrows, as if asking her if she wanted to check it all out. Maybe they could suss out some info from the suited guy, considering they were playing FBI. If he was willing to speak to the cops, maybe he would be willing to speak to them.

Dean's furrowing of his brow and the waving of the fork was just another reason for Mika to stop protesting the idea before she even started. She knew the moment she went to go protest he wouldn't allow it to be the other way round. He almost lost her once, twice even, he wasn't going to risk it for a third time.

She nodded at him telling her not to worry about zoning out whilst he followed her eyes and looked at what she was seeing. She was glad she wasn't the only one who thought it seemed a bit off and that it could be lead for them, other than the corpses in the morgue. Looking back at him she saw that oh so familiar look he would give her when silently asking if she wanted to check it out.

"I think we should, we can take this lot as takeout" she agreed, grabbing her drink and taking a long sip to wash down what she had already eaten. She looked up toward the waitress to wave the woman over, seeing her walk over, "can we get this lot to go? Seems our break is being cut short" she asked the waitress, "sure thing hunni, I'll be right back with some boxes for you" she said before walking off.

Mika then looked back at Dean, "one day we'll get a full break" she smirked. "guess we'll be taking the suited guy rather than the officer he was talking to?" she asked in assumption as the waitress came back with three boxes for them to put all their food in.

"thanks" Mika said, grabbing one of the bigger boxes to put her food in, letting Dean have the other two for his pie and burger.

Dean nodded to Mika reluctantly about taking their food to go. He was thoroughly enjoying his food, but he also knew that they had a very small window to get to the guys outside. So, he pushed his plate back, waiting for the boxes. Once the boxes were in front of them on the table, he placed his burger in one, and the rest of his pie in the other on his side.

“We’ll get a break tonight at some point. We’re unfortunately going to have to wait and see, I’m thinking. I don’t want to use the towns people as bait, but the odds of this thing just being easy to find are slim. It could be anyone in this town…”, he explained as he packed up his food, “And as far as the guys out there, we should definitely take the suited guy. If he thinks we’re FBI and actually willing to listen to him, he may be an open book.”

He realized that he might have to be the heavy hand in this situation, but that she had to be the boss. She looked a lot more professional, and not as young as he did. If they were going to convince this poor man they were above the police officer he was speaking to, she would have to stand on the front lines, with Dean behind her for support.

He smiled, closing his boxes and stacking them up, before meeting her gaze again, “I’ll let you do the heavy lifting with him. I’ll be there for incentive, if you need me, Agent Jett…”

Mika didn't want to take their food to go but she knew just as well as he did that if they didn't move now, then it was going to be too late and they would lose their only possible leads, especially as they didn't know who this guy was, just that he was acting suspicious and antsy as hell. She listened to his reply as she pulled out her wallet and put the money for their meals and drinks on the table, along with a tip for the waitress.

"Me neither, if it's one of us or a random person off the street, I'd rather take one of us being the bait. Going for an utter outsider from town would surely be more appealing to this skinwalker." she started replying to him, "I also agree that the dude in the suit might be easier to get through to than some guy in a uniform" she added, also assuming that she might have to take the lead once again on this, and just as she was hoping she could change her footwear. Luckily for her, Dean was perfect for the lurking behind her and looking intimidating enough if things started to close up.

"Got it, luckily for us the car is right near him, so if you need to you can put the food boxes in the car whilst i approach this guy" she replied to him with a smile as she scooted across the booth table seat and stood up, adjusting her suit incase it got crumpled from sitting down. She pulled out her car keys and when Dean had stood up, she placed them inside his suit jacket pocket for him as he was holding the food boxes.

Exiting the diner, she headed to the edge of the sidewalk, looking both ways before crossing the road safely but urgently as she saw the officer go inside the station, and the suited guy, their target begin to walk away. "I hate jogging in heels" she grumbled to herself and Dean, as she gave him the shoulder pat to let him know she was going on ahead and over to this guy. She picked up the pace and managed to get away with just jogging in her stiletto heels with ease, reaching the guy in question. "Excuse me sir? Do you have a moment to chat? I'm Agent Jett, FBI" She introduced herself, stopping in front of him.

"Uh, what can I do for you.... Agent?" He asked, looking at her questionably not sure if he could believe she really was an FBI agent. Mika pulled out her badge and showed him, to which he took from her and scrutinized even more than the coroner did before then handed it back to her. The man in question was tall, mousey blonde scriffy hair that had obviously tried to be tamed in some manner. His suit now she was up close to him, seemed relatively well fitted but not perfect which told her it was a generic suit from a store and not one that was custom to his measurements. He looked suspicious of his surroundings, anxiety ridden as his hands seemed to be fidgeting in his prants pockets.

"We're here because of the recent killings that have been unsolved. The ones that have their throats slashed opened roughly. My department have been called in to close this case as your local police team seem completely incapable of catching this person" she spoke to him as professionally as possible. "you seem rather anxious Mr...?" she pointed out, giving him the cue that he hadn't introduced himself yet. "Travers, it's Mr.Travers" he said.

Dean nodded his head at Mika’s plan, a bit impressed that she was taking such control of the situation. He stood from the booth with her and stepped up close to her, but smiled down at her face as she placed the keys in his jacket pocket. The small touch to his torso caused him to be distracted for a second, as he was semi fed, and his adrenaline was starting to rise at the idea of a hunt.

He cleared his throat and followed her out of the diner, headed for the car. As she mentioned jogging in heels, his eyebrows raised and he watched her as she stepped away from him. He kept them raised, watching her jog away in her impossible shoes, He shook himself from his thoughts, wanting to get back to her as fast as possible and pulled the keys from his jacket pocket. He opened the backseat drivers door, gently laying the food in the back seat, before clicking the lock and turning to jog back to Mika.

As Dean stepped back up behind Mika, he pulled his own badge, even though she was no longer holding hers, and flashed it to the man, before shoving his hands in his pant pockets, to loom over Mika’s back as an incentive for the man to be honest with them.

“Mr. Tavers, have you seen anything that would make you so nervous? We saw you talking to the cops. They probably didn’t believe you.”, Dean chimed in, pulling a hand from his pocket to place it on his chest, “We will. Trust me. We’re not average agents…”

He glanced to Mika, his face never moving from his intimidating expression and then turned back to Mr. Tavers, “Tell us what you told him.”

Mika would have been lying if she ever said that she didn't revel in the fact she could impress Dean. She liked showing how well Bobby trained her, even if Bobby started it at the time with reluctance. She was unfortunately used to not being taken seriously as a hunter not just because of her age, but because of her gender, so if she could impress Dean of all people she knew she was doing a very competent job.

She saw from over the guy's shoulder that Dean was jogging over to her after putting the food in the car and felt better for having him back beside her, even if she was on the whole quite independent. She let Dean show his own ID to show he was with her as she tried to get Mr.Travers to talk, which she wasn't getting too far with so when Dean spoke up, she was thankful.

"it's nothing..." Mr.Travers replied, his eyes darting here, there and everywhere except for at Dean and Mika. It was almost like he was looking around to see if anyone else was watching him. He sighed at Dean's insistance on telling them what he told the officer. "we were just discussing private matters Agent" he replied, lying through his teeth.

Mika Rose an eyebrow at the man, seeing him lying to them. "I should remind you Mr.Travers that lying to the FBI is a serious matter and we can hold you for withholding information to a serious case." she said.

"I'm not lying to you Agent Jett, I don't know anything about these recent murders, only what was in the papers. That it seemed they were mauled by a bear", him putting emphasis on her rank and fake name, as if he didn't fully believe her to be an Agent at all.

"the papers never stated what kind of animal if any, did the killings" Mika pointed out, making the man panic, "I guess it's word of mouth or something.." he tried to cover himself. "now if you don't have any other questions I have work to get to" Mr Travers said, abruptly walking away from them.

"oh he's suspicious alright, no way he doesn't know anything" she said to Dean, placing her hands on her hips as she watched the man walk away.

Dean started to step forward, his hand coming out to grab the man’s jacket as he spoke to Mika with snark. But he refrained, letting Mika handle it as nicely as possible before he had to become the heavy. However, when he responded to Mika’s observation with deflection, Dean raised his nose into the air, staring down at Mr. Travers over his cheek bones.

He let his hands relax from the fists they were clenched into when Mr. Travers walked away, tempted to go and grab him. He knew something, or at least had a hunch. Either way, he was someone they could get more info out of with the right push of the buttons. He turned to Mika, relaxing his body language and sighed.

“Yeah. I shouldn’t have let him walk off. He was terrified. I could have shaken it out of him, but I didn’t want to cause a scene.”, he muttered, flexing his hands from the tension of having them clenched so tightly. He looked around the street to see if anyone else had noticed the interaction, but no one was even looking at them.

“We either need to figure out where he’s headed, or we need to get more info on him. What do you think?”, he asked her, wanting to make sure she was at least partially in the lead on the case, “I can still get to him, if you want me to go knock him out. I just might need help getting him into the trunk…”

Mika knew in her gut and heart that this guy was definitely in the know about something and she didn't like the idea of just letting him walk off, but they needed to think about their next moves thoroughly, even if they didn't have the time to do so.

"he's definitely terrified of something." she agreed as she too saw that no one around seemed in the slightest bit bothered that one of their townspeople was being interviewed on the street by two FBI agents. This whole town was putting her on edge from how peaceful it was. She wasn't used to such a peaceful looking town, and to her it was borderline stepford in her opinion.

"let's follow him, we can go in the car?" she suggested, "or you go on foot and I'll find you in the car. We can't exactly drag an unconscious body through the street to the car" she said to him. She could see this Travers guy was still in eye shot so they hadn't quite lost their chance to follow him if they were quick enough.

It was then she heard her phone start ringing in her pocket, pulling it out of her jacket pocket she answered it, "agent Jett" she answered, "oh hi, yes...oh really? Interesting, no, no that's all, thank you for the information." she answered to the voice down the phone before hanging up and looking right at Dean.

"that hair? Bear. We're going after this guy" she told him.
