You'd think, but I actually have multiple characters that I love way too much
Definitely my iconic Quinnlash Loughvein but also I've got a blind esper named Luna who I put in nearly as many settings as Quinn.

On that note,

She is... currently my favorite. No reason! Ok, that's a lie.

Writing her has been a fun 2-hour pastime that cannot be repeated anymore. I like her in a way that makes it a pity she will never be a playable character in a role-playing game.

I have created a monster, not because she is ugly, but because she is an abomination in a collaborative story.

Well, I'd still love to be proven wrong about this matter, though.

My favorite characters I've ever had are for a game on another forum. The setting takes place in a sleepy suburban American town where pretty much everything unusual happens, the "Nowhere, Kansas" of New England essentially. There are so many oddities in town that this woman decided to convert an old office building into a high school for kids with oddities, called Oddity High. I have two students in that game.

The first is a boy named Gill. He's tall, he's pale, he's handsome, has red hair, and unnaturally grey eyes. a merman; in this setting, mermen and mermaids are beautiful, have hypnotic singing voices, can communicate with sea life, and cannot transform between legs and a tail. He was raised by parents who feared humanity and never wanted Gill to interact with humans. However, when he was six years old, they went out for a hunt and never came back. Gill was left alone in the ocean, longing for companionship, and he never saw another merman or mermaid again. When he turned 16, his longing became insatiable and he found a deep witch (a mysterious spirit being that resembles a jellyfish) who gave him the ability to grow legs and go onto land when he left the water, in exchange for "the color in his eyes". He accepted and not only did his eyes turn grey, but he's now colorblind-- he can only see in black and white, making it so he can't really appreciate the sights that the human world has to offer. Despite this, he's chipper and social, if rather naive due to his lack of knowledge of the human world. He ended up befriending a socially awkward, grumpy girl with the ability to shoot fire from her hands, and they ended up dating.

The second is a girl named Jackie, raised in a fundamentalist household. She's short, with a modest figure and brunette hair in a bob. She was inspired by the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. As a little girl she was basically Mommy's Little Girl, dedicating herself to her parents, her schooling, and to God. But as she grew older, she found herself wanting to live her own life, but her domineering mother wouldn't let her. At some point, somehow, the defiant and rebellious parts of herself was shunted into a separate individual that she transforms to and from at random. This second personality became known as Heidi. When she transforms into Heidi, she grows taller, her figure fills out and becomes more curvaceous, her hair turns long and blonde, and her personality takes a radical shift. Heidi is rebellious, adventurous, flirtatious, swears like a sailor, disdains authority and refuses to compromise on anything. Her mother believed she had been possessed by a demon and tried to have her exorcised, which didn't work. Her base "Jackie" identity doubled down on being the responsible girl that always did what she was told, essentially being nothing but the filter that Heidi doesn't have. Jackie doesn't want anything for herself; Heidi ONLY cares about herself. Her mother enrolled her in Oddity High in the hopes that they could find a "cure" for her (read: get rid of Heidi and leave only the obedient Jackie self). Despite her best efforts, there is no sign of a cure, and indeed, Jackie is beginning to learn not to constantly follow orders and obey her parents unconditionally, learning to want things for herself. And Heidi is learning how to settle down and become a more caring person. She's currently ended up in a relationship with a girl (and is keeping it secret lest her bigoted mother have a conniption), a lesbian vampire also enrolled at the school who is nonetheless a total sweetheart. I hope those two learn to make it work.

interesting topic

Won't really post character sheets since I've always treated those are more of a formality, but there's some RP characters that stick out firmly in my mind. Some that I never even got to play, but who's setup I liked so much that they felt memorable to me.

I like Tamatsu and Vanth, a rather ordinary girl who ended up being murdered due to a long, ancient curse on a card she was fated to own, and her corpse being animated by a spirit who now inhabited her body alongside her that she wasn't aware of. And I do mean she's a corpse; her spirit is still bound to her body, but due to the necromancer Vanth's powers, with the same spell he sealed his spirit to hers. Planning to eventually purge her spirit and use her body to revive himself, all while she's vaguely aware she's not really alive. Never got to play her but she's a super cool character to me.

Similarly, Shizuka from an old 1x1 I did with a friend that didn't get very far. A "trans girl" in a sense, as in she was an actual trans girl at one point, being a boy who didn't like being one and got his wish granted by a cosmic game turning him into a real, cis girl. 'course no such thing as a free lunch and all, so she was forced to use the spirit of her alter ego- Cross- who looked like her old, male self to fight other people who similarly had their wish granted. The losers would have their wish undone and ripped away from them.

There's also Serah who I like. From an old mecha RP. I mostly like her because she's one of the few characters who I got to really write, and one with a compelling (enough) story arc and some actual character development. She had a relationship, saw her friends die, went to prison- was pretty fun. I may bring her back in a bit if something shakes out, but otherwise she's mostly a good memory to me.

i swear i don't only write girls, just the girl characters i seemed to have more fun with than the guys i've historically played.

My favorite OC from my favorite RP.

Roleplays collaboratively written by a group of friends that are passionate about the setting and worldbuilding always have the greatest results when it comes to character creation.
